A Peach on the Beach! 4 Night Disney Dream 5/18-5/22/15 Updated 3/18/16

Past some seating areas

We were making our way all the way around the water to the beach area

There were tons of little water ways everywhere

THIS WAS SOOO COOL!!!!

There were sharks in here and the color was amazing

Right next to the sharks there was another seating/eating area - Lagoon Bar/Restaurant

The details were amazing. This is the ceiling

There was an area for rental of water toys

And then shockingly, more walkways! lol

We continued our march along the path past Blue Adventures

and all the big water toys - they looked like a lot of fun

We were getting close to our destination

Soft pretzels and other food was available here

And here it is! The beach!

The beach was not very crowded at this point and we decided to find a spot to park ourselves

The water was really nice

And we were finally settled in to our spot for the day.

Andy decided to head out into the water to snap a few underwater pics with the gopro

There wasn't much to see but he did find a few fish

In looking at the pics I think he may have been chasing around the same fish or two lol

This is when it happened. The title of this trip report. The peach on a beach.

We had been discussing that Deb wanted to pick up her daughter a wooden flute while we were in port. She often picked up drum sticks for her other daughter who plays percussion but had never grabbed a flute souvenir for her daughter who plays the flute.

As we were sitting enjoying a cocktail along came a local selling various items and one of them happened to be...you guessed it...little wooden flutes.

Once we mentioned a flute, she literally started jumping around dancing and playing one of the little wooden flutes.

I honestly cannot even explain how hilarious this whole situation was.

After a bit of price haggling, once Deb decided to buy one of the flutes the girl said to Deb. "You're just a peach on the beach".

The drinks we had been consuming might have helped but seriously - we could not stop laughing at Deb being a peach on the beach.

After a bit in the sun it was time to find a restroom. There honestly is nothing very close by

So off Andy and I went down more pathways

Over a wooden bridge

We kept searching around

still looking

to a pool area

There was a Starbucks - it's everywhere!

In the background you can see where the waterslide area is

I went over to peek at the water area. It was so neat! Inside those big windows is an aquarium type area where a tube ride goes through inside of it. It passes right by the sharks, etc. that are in the tank

We could see people riding in tubes - one had a go pro - i bet they got some amazing video. I kept thinking how much my kids would love this!

After a quick restroom break we made our way back to our friends who were still on the beach to discuss finding some lunch. The Atlantis Beach Day excursion with Disney included a quick service type lunch at one of a few select venues and by now we were starting to get hungry.

Back around the pool area:

There was a "Shark Bites" restaurant right by the pool that we passed by

back over the big wooden bridge

to find the peach on the beach

Andy stopped to cool off for a minute after our walk

We met up with Deb & Tim who had been enjoying some sun

It was overcast but never rained

We made our way over to the foodstand that was near the beach entrance to see what we could find for lunch

The seating area I took a pic of earlier that had been empty was now PACKED!!!! Deb waited to see if a table would open while we went and picked up food. Luckily she eventually got one just as we came back with the food which was a looooooooong wait. Tim and Deb both had hot dog combos, Andy had fish and chips (definitely the best choice) and I believe I had fried chicken. Everything was tasty and the portions were a good size.

After lunch we decided we were done on the beach and would explore the rest of Atlantis

So we walked back towards the main building

This is the area where you grab tubes for the waterslides

We talked about a return trip to Atlantis in the future while cruising with the kids and decided we would definitely do the waterslides with them. They would have a blast here.

opposite the slides is another pool area

There was a really neat fountain up by the main building that we stopped to look at

As we were standing there a family came up with a young child. First they took his picture sitting on the fountain. However, they then had him CLIMBING the fountain. Literally climbing up it to get to the top. Seriously? I have kids and would never have my kid climbing through a fountain. I felt bad for the kid you could tell he didn't want to do it and it looked dangerous to me. Oh well - moving on

There was a sign for cabana availabilty:

There was a Ben & Jerry's nearby for anyone who wants an ice cream fix

We decided to head into the aquarium area " The Dig"

It was really neat in here

We took our time wandering through the Dig checking out all of the different fish along the way

This photo turned out absolutely terrible but there was a little gift shop where they were selling an Atlantis Monopoly board game. I went back and forth about buying it and finally decided I didn't want to carry it but I really wished that I had picked it up after we left. I guess I just need to go back again!

It's kind of hard to tell but the fish in this next area were HUGE!

Once we were finished looking around in the Dig we made our way to the hotel/casino.

Thanks for reading! I was really worries that a 4 night would be way too short but we enjoyed it immensely! I would do it again anyday! Super relaxing and the ship was lovely!

We wandered past the shops

We stopped by some of the statues

Then we spotted THIS. I did my best to talk Andy into sitting in it but he wouldn't LOL. Luckily Tim agreed

Next we found the casino and decided we wanted to go in to play some slots

I'm sure you probably aren't supposed to take pics but I snagged a couple

I'm pretty sure the drinks on the gaming floor were free and we just tipped the waitress

While we were there - Tim won over $450! Not bad! paid for their excursion and some "booze" LOL

When we were done playing the slots we decided to hit some of the shops for a few souvenirs.

After picking up some souvenirs we decided to head back to the port. We went out front and were able to track down a shuttle bus that would take us back. I honestly thought it was a bit chaotic - not really organized at all.

I think our shuttle might have said Carnival on it, but luckily we ended up in the right place

Overall we enjoyed our visit to Atlantis. I did not feel that the Disney excursion was worth $99 per person. If we return, we will do comfort suites and visit Atlantis waterslides, etc. via taxi on our own. I'm glad we tried it once.

At this point we still had time before we needed to be back on the ship so we decided to check out the port area. Honestly, there is VERY little to see here. The usual vendors selling items and food/drink vendors and that is about it. I can see why many choose to stay on the ship. This would not be worth getting off for in my opinion

We wandered around checking out the shops very briefly but we didn't buy anything. It seemed more like a local hangout than anything else to me.

After all of that "hard work" we decided we would head to our room for a few cocktails. This is something I'm really going to miss with the change in the alcohol policy. Even though we bought PLENTY of cocktails on board, we still enjoyed being able to have a few drinks while getting ready for dinner, etc.

After that we headed up to the quick service food area to get a snack as we still had several hours before dinner.

I grabbed a bowl of chili, looks like Tim had a burger and chili and someone had pizza.

Afterwards, we headed back to the room and threw on a movie, I think it was the Hobbit while we got ready for dinner

Once we were ready we got back together with our friends for some more drinks

We were headed to Palo tonight to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary! hooray!

Our table wasn't ready when we arrived so we sat down in the bar area to order a drink

i REALLY wish I could remember what the name of the drink I had was. it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! Next trip I am going to do my best to take some trip notes as I go. I'm also going to cave and lug around my canon camera.

Right after our drinks arrived our table was ready so we headed into Palo

They brought around the antipasto cart

I don't think I really ate any of this but they leave a selection at your table

For my appetizer I ordered the calamari. Delicious!

Andy had a tomato mozzarella appetizer

Next up was a sorbet to cleanse your palette

When we were ordering I asked our waiter which risotto he would recommend - the seafood or the mushroom. He suggested the seafood so I went with that however he brought BOTH. oh my. WAYYYY to much food. BUT, I am really glad he did because both were great but I really enjoyed the wild mushroom risotto. SOOOO good!

Then it was time for the famous chocolate souffle. Now if you can believe this, I almost didn't order this. I'm not a huge "cake" lover and i pictured it to be like a little cake. OH. MY. GOSH. Seriously. heaven on earth. delicious. It was sooooooo good I could cry just thinking about it.

Our fabulous waiter brought us a plate decorated for our anniversary. He was excellent!!! Everything was so wonderful here. I cannot say enough good things about Palo. We loved it.
