Welcome to Universal City

We left Disneyland and checked into our home for the next four nights. We were staying at the Hilton, which was right next to Universal Studios, the actual studios and the theme park in Universal City, CA. The Hilton was beautiful and we had a fantastic view and room.

We spent a relaxing evening in Universal City and did some of our own touring about Los Angeles. We spent the evening at City Walk, which was right across the street from us. It was walking distance and it had the best restuarants to choose from.

More below...

WB Studios

We woke up early the next day because we were going on a black lot tour at Warner Brothers Studios and I couldn't wait. We got to WD Studios early and we were also able to get a discount because of the Writer's Strike, which sadly didn't end by the time we got to Los Angles. Even worse, it's still going on! Yes, picketers were a highlight of our trip, along with honking and people cursing at them from their cars. Oh, how I love LA!

The Gellers' Home in "Friends"

We were able to go inside "The Tellers" home, which was fun because this is where they filmed some of my favorite "Friends" episodes. All of the flashback episodes pretty much had a scene in this house, including the Prom Video, which was the best! Everyone, including me, thinks DH looks like Ross aka David Schwimmer, so I had to have him sit on the staircase where he sat in that episode before Rachael and Monica went to the prom.

n25002324_33334935_1029.jpg

Then, we went to the working-set of "ER," where we got to see the "actual" hospital and ambulances. You'll recognize this from almost every opening scene in "ER" or any scenes right outside the hospital.

n25002324_33334940_2671.jpg

n25002324_33334939_2359.jpg

We visited a small museum area, where they hosed all of the famous vehicles used in many WB films. I'm sure you will recognize them all!

Now, the most exciting part of the tour for me was going on the actual set of "Friends!" It's the actual set for Central Perk, they just moved it from the stage to a different location. I kept waiting for the gang to appear!

Here’s the famous WB water tower, which is now just for decoration. Anyone else an "Animaniacs" fan here? I just kept thinking of it as Yakko, Wakko, & Dot's home and thought they should pop put at any moment. :rotfl:

More Soon!

Yay I'm here! I love how you got to see all those cool sets! Specially the Friends one. So awesome!! Too bad though you didn't get to go into the Seaver house. I just loved that show...actually still do!!

Looking forward to more!

I jumped on over here to hear more of your trip to CA. I love CA, I have been going to CA on a regular basis since 2000 so it will be neat to hear what you think of the places, many of the places you went to I have visited and will anxious to hear what you thought, I might actually have to dig up some of my pictures. I know for sure I have a picture my Joan Collins star, love her, and also John Ritter's, such a shame, RIP John, long time fan of Three's Company.:goodvibes

So far your off to a great start. WB looks awesome, I had a friend tell me I want to do that tour sometime because of all the Harry Potter stuff, she did it and said it is great. Looks awesome, can't wait to hear more.:goodvibes

Hi Lindsay.......I jumped over here from your DL TR! :goodvibes That's so cool that you got to see the Friend's set.......I LOVE that show!!! Your DH really does resemble Ross. :goodvibes That's great that you got to see the Seaver's home too........Growing Pains was one of my favorite shows growing up! :thumbsup2

I have a friend that works at WB, under the direction of George Clooney, and she said that it's been crazy in CA with the Writer's Strike going on. I can only imagine what you saw with the picketers and all.

You are just the luckiest girl ever!! The children are looking forward to hearing about Legoland!

ok, Lindsey i am here too! can't wait to read part 2 of your California vaction! WB studios looks like a great place to visit!!
~Sue

I'm here! I'm here! :yay:

I think this is the longest I have gone without being on The DIS and no Trippie update! :scared1: *Must catch-up!* It's been a hectic week at work, since it's our busiest time of the year and I've been exhausted. :headache: Now, I'm back!

I hope everyone has been doing well. I will have to go back and read all of your comments, but I will get to the Trippie update first. I'm going to have a busy weekend too because DH & I are celebration Valentine's Day early with a weekend at the Grand Floridian! :lovestruc

I can't wait! I have never stayed there and I think it's the perfect spot to celebrate Valentine's. We are having dinner at Citrico's and I've never been there either, so this will be all new to me. We are going back to 1900 Park Fare too and we haven't been there, since our wedding rehearsal dinner.

I also already talked to Private Dining and have some special treats being sent to our room to surprise DH! I've got to pack and do laundry tomorrow when I get home, so I may be able to update. But, if not, I'll be back posting on Monday. :wizard:

Just so I say it early...
Have a Magical weekend everyone!

Disney's Soda Fountain & Studio Store
An Afternoon of Disney Magic!

Our next stop was a Magical visit to the Disney Soda Fountain & Studio Store on Hollywood Blvd, which is right next to the El Capitan Theatre. I was so glad to be able to have a little touch of Disney right there in Hollywood!

n25002324_33334969_2357.jpg

n25002324_33334967_1683.jpg

n25002324_33334957_8153.jpg

I quickly spotted the Hollywood Star that was right at the entrance of the Disney Soda Fountain. The perfect location!

n25002324_33334964_509.jpg

The Soda Fountain was so cute! There was pink everywhere and everything was decorated for Christmas and for the movie, "Enchanted." It was just adorable and a Princess' dream in there!

n25002324_33334963_156.jpg

The restaurant and store are not too big and it's connected to the movie theatre, so you could smell the yummy popcorn. We got seated in the corner and I looked up and saw Zach Braff, which was exciting for me! I am a huge fan of the tv show, "Scrubs" and we were actually going to the "Scrubs" Farewell Tour with the Cast the next night in Beverly Hills. What a coincidence!

Gary Marshall & Zach Braff: "Chicken Little"
n25002324_33334959_8798.jpg

I had to order something from the fountain, so I started my meal with a Chocolate Phosphate. Even the napkins are cute at this place!

n25002324_33334961_9463.jpg

The walls are covered in autographed photos of celebrities that have eaten there. Of course, they are all from Disney films and they usually have the premieres for a majority of the films right next door at the El Capitan Theatre, so the stars have to drop by for some ice cream.

n25002324_33334962_9827.jpg

The Cast of "High School Musical"
n25002324_33334966_1199.jpg

I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and a cup of their broccoli & cheese soup that came in a cute Disney's Soda Fountain mug. It was very tasty and DH ordered the spaghetti & meatballs. We had to make sure we had room for dessert!

They had many different ice cream and sundae options. There were also many cute Disney themed options to choose from, like the "Enchanted" sundae that was the special at that time. I decided to try the Peppermint Sundae and DH created his own. The ice cream was amazing and there was marshmallow fluff all in my sundae. It was so good!

n25002324_33334965_876.jpg

We left Disney's Soda Fountain & Studio Store after doing a little shopping and then we just had to keep the Disney Magic going! We did a quick search on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for a few of our favorite Disney Stars!

n25002324_33334971_3035.jpg

n25002324_33334972_3385.jpg

Then, we ended our afternoon of Disney Magic with a visit to The Walt Disney Studios! Is there any better way to top off your day!? I couldn't believe I was actually there and it was just amazing! It's where Walt started it all!

Glad you are doing well Lindsey and happy you are back!

I never knew there was a Disney soda fountain shop. Very cool! If I ever make it out to Cali I will have to check it out.

Have a great weekend at the Grand. That just seems like a very romantic hotel, perfect way to spend an early valentines weekend!

Hey Lindsey, sure sounds like you had a very busy week. Yikes, I sure hope you get plenty of rest and relaxation this weekend on your special Valentine's Day getaway. Hope you and DH have a great weekend.

The Soda Fountain looks amazing, those sundae's, yummy!!!! I sure can't wait to check the place out. The food sounds like it was super good and I love the fact that they have all the stars from the Disney movies up on the wall that have stopped by, very cool.:goodvibes

So neat to have seen the Walt Disney Studios, too bad they don't give tours of that place, that would be so awesome.:thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about the Scrubs Farewell tour, I love that show!! I bet it was great, can't wait to hear about it.:goodvibes
