3 ER visits, 4 broken bones, numerous stitches – and that was only the first day!

How terrible and I hate to say this but be prepared to have to sue. I can't imagine an insurance company just paying your expenses- they'll be suing the go kart place (or their insurer). Good luck!

Yeah, I'm trying to brace myself for this. I haven't heard anything from the hospital or my insurance company yet!

I don't normally comment on trip reports, but I really hope everything works out for you and you have better luck on your next trip!

Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.

I completely agree.

I'm so sorry that you had such an awful experience. I do hope that you are doing well now.

Thanks. I am doing better but I still have pain. I still have some neurological issues too. We are hoping these are temporary but time will tell.

I was planning on doing another TR but right now Photobucket is doing maintenance and I can't post any photos. I will update as soon as I can!

I have been following your trip report and I have to say, that although what happened to you completely sucked, you are the most wonderful person in that you were more worried about your kids and granddaughter and making sure they had a good time. I hope you are feeling better.

I know you mentioned that you are not planning to sue. I really think you and your husband should reconsider this. The go-kart company was completely at fault and liable. You suffered a lot and may have long term effects. I am not a lawyer but I would bet they would settle out of court and you would get a sizable amount. What happened to you was terrible. Yes, it was an accident, but one that could have been prevented. That little girl was not at fault. The go-kart company was by telling people to exit their vehicles and not insuring everyone was stopped.

If anything, you deserve a do-over trip and should not have to pay for it. Yes, some people sue for silly reasons. This is not a silly reason.

Best wishes and I hope you did get to have a little fun on your trip.

Thank you so much. You are very sweet. Although I really didn't get to do much with Disney, I did get to have some good times with my kids so I did have a little fun.

Thank you for being concerned and offering your advice. Although we have seriously thought about suing, I just cannot go through that again. You see, I was in a BAD car accident 8 years ago (a car rear-ended me going about 85 miles per hour). My jaw was broken as well as my neck. We ended up having to sue just to get my medical bills paid and it was one of the worst times of my life. I was put through heck and back and I just cannot do that again. Everyone knew that the guy that hit me was 100% at fault and was grossly negligent, but what his insurance company put me through with the lawsuit was almost criminal. I just don't feel like I could do that again. I do thank you for your concern though.

I'm still reading.
I too do some embroidery but my machine is totally a clutz because the material keeps getting stuck in the bobbin area. :( so I just gave up before wasting any more material. Never did any t-shirts, but the last thing I tried
was towels.

oh well.
I hope you are feeling better and that Minnie Mouse kept you company when your family couldn't be there with you. Perhaps the next time you go, perhaps it will be a mom and granddaughter trip so she can do more characters and stuff. Plus it will make your DGD (Disney Grand Daughter) feel more special spending time with her DGM (Disney Grand-Mother)

DAY 9

DH dropped everyone off at Epcot and then came to the hospital. They were going to release me today. Keep in mind when I went to the hospital, I was wearing my PJs. I asked DH to bring me some clothing that I could wear instead of my jammies. When he got to the hospital, he didn't have my clothes. I asked where my clothing was and he replied, “I didn't bring any because I thought it would save you some laundry!” Are you kidding me?!!!
Let’s look at how many things are wrong this:
1. I asked him to bring me clothes. Nothing else matters – he should have followed my directions.
2. Um, excuse me? Did he actually say “save YOU some laundry”??? Did he seriously think I was going to do laundry after all that I’d been through???
3. I was wearing hospital gowns for several days. I wasn't wearing my clothes. I don’t think I needed to worry about not having enough clothing.

Why did he think I asked him to bring some clothing? What is wrong with that man? I had to repeat in my head about a thousand times, “Remember, you love him, remember you love him, remember you love him.” So the first thing we did after leaving the hospital was to go back to the condo where we were staying and I changed my clothes.

I think these shirts were tied with our favorite shirts of the trip. I also made headpieces and necklaces for the girls. Here's what the t-shirts look like:

It's kind of hard to see from the photo, but the shirts say, "I'm Just a Little Concerned With the Number of Lunatics on this Trip!" It seemed to be quite popular - we got lots of comments on them.

Here are the headpieces I made for the girls:

I was so sick of hospitals and I really wanted to get out so we went to Epcot and met up with the rest of the family. Even when I’m not injured, I cannot walk a long distance so whenever we go to Disney, we rent a scooter for me to get around. Let me tell you, riding in a scooter over the bumpy ground and uneven surfaces when you have a horrific headache, a broken tail bone and broken ribs – HURT!!! I never realized how much you get bounced around when you are in a wheelchair or on a scooter. It was quite unpleasant!

For lunch we ate at Via Napoli Pizzariae Ristorante. DD had gluten-free pasta. The adults all split a pizza. It was HUGE and delicious!

We were too full from the pizza to have any desserts.

After a short while, I told my family that I just could not go around anymore and it was so hot (93 degrees with 90% humidity) I needed to get inside. We went into a pavilion where some of the demonstrations were going on for the Food and Wine Festival. Ghirardelli had a place set up there and they had this chocolate drink you could buy. We went to the counter and ordered 5 drinks – one for each of us. The lady told us that we would never drink that much (mind you, each drink was only about 2 ounces). I told the lady she was crazy and we all love chocolate! She still said we wouldn’t drink that much and I told her she didn’t know me! She insisted that we should only buy 2. I finally agreed to buy 3 but I bet her I’d be back to buy more! OMG! This is what I imagine heaven to be! I have never tasted anything so rich and chocolatey in all my life! I was glad we did get 3 drinks instead of 2 but I’ll be honest, it was hard finishing up that third drink. I did end up going back to get some more – (granted, it was several hours later), but I did go back! ::yes:: I was so excited because they had some mix there that made the chocolate drink. I bought 2 cans, DD bought 2 cans and DS bought 2 cans. (I wanted to buy more, but DH reminded me that the airlines have weight limits and we only had so much room in our suitcases.) I only hope it is as good as what we had there.

Ghirardelli also had some really cool chocolate sculptures. Sorry the pictures aren't that great but all the sculptures were behind glass and it is hard to photograph.

While I stayed put, the family went around the World Showcase visiting all the countries. DS bought a beautiful coo-coo clock in Germany. DD did the Agent P adventure. It is really neat. Even the adults in our group loved doing it. They all highly recommend doing it. They all agreed that the adventure in Mexico was the best so if you are only able to do one adventure, make sure it’s Mexico!

In the evening, we went back to our condo and made some chicken cordon bleu for dinner. No one wanted any dessert - I think we were still on our “chocolate high”.

Have a wonderful day everyone! Hugs to everyone that needs them!

OOPS! I forgot to post a picture of the jewelry that I made for the girls for today so here it is:

I'm glad that you are out of the hospital and enjoying Disney with your family again but I can't imagine riding around DIsney after all that you had been through.

Your shirts are hilarious!! I need shirts like that for our upcoming trip!

Next time you are in Epcot, complete the France mission for PHineas and Ferb. It is one of our favorites by far! We also love the UK mission. :thumbsup2

Hi LuvOfDisney, I am so sorry, I missed seeing your post until just now. I was not ignoring you - I promise!

I was just spending some time looking at your Pinterest boards. I really enjoyed them. You have done a great job on them.

I am sorry your embroidery machine keeps eating material. I've had machines that did that exact same thing. It truly is frustrating! You might want to see if there are any classes in your area designed for your specific machine that you can take. I know some machines are totally picky on what stabilizer you use as well as what needles and thread are used. Good luck!

I am feeling better, thank you. I would love to do just a special "girl" trip to Disney, but DH would want to go too and I just can't tell him he can't go :)

I'm glad you liked our shirts. We loved these too. The design really fit my family! :) They were pretty much tied with another shirt for our favorite.

The family did the France Perry mission too. Mexico was their favorite but it was followed VERY closely by France.

Oh my, talk about a horrible, no good, very bad trip!

How are you now?

Oh! That's how I'm going to have to start referring to our trip from now on - "horrible, no good, very bad trip"! :lmao: I LOVE it!

I am doing better. I still have pain and some neurological issues - not near as bad as a month ago though so it is getting better. Thanks so much for caring enough to ask.

I think we finally have all our photos on our computer so now I can show you some of the fun outfits we wore:

This is what we wore on the day we flew out. Since we were not doing anything Disney, we opted for a Dr Who design.

I also made the Girls hair barrettes to match the shirts:

(Needless to say, mine were destroyed in the accident :sad1: )

For day 2, I embroidered the Haunted Mansion Hitchhiking Ghosts on our shirts. DH had “Phineas” (the ghost with the suitcase):

DD had “Ezra” (The tall skeleton ghost):

and finally, DS had “Gus” (The ghost with the long beard).

More to come!

For the day that everyone went to DHS, I embroidered the shirts. The designs were really cute. DH design was Donald Duck as one of the Bell Hops from Tower of Terror

DS design was Goofy, also dressed as a Bell Hop. Sorry, I do not have a photo of that design.

DD was Minnie Mouse dressed like the bride that disappeared on Tower of Terror. I made her “puff ears” that were like Minnie Mouse’s ears. Here are photos of both DD shirt and “ears”

For day 4 (The day DS and I were supposed to go to Universal.) The shirts we were planning on wearing are tied for our #1 favorite shirt.

I made a matching necklace for me too.

For day 7 which was our “Down Day”, I planned on only DH and I matching. DH is a real trooper to never squawk at what I want him to wear. He always just goes with it! These shirts basically sum up the way I feel about him:

I understand that you've been through heck and back but please, please please at least consult with a civil litigation specialist. At bare minimum find out about the limitation period in the Orlando jurisdiction. It isn't unusual for individuals to have residual and/or long term issues and/or problems arising later following a head injury. I would hate for you to make a decision now that you may wish to change later when later might be too late. If you do nothing else besides putting the company on notice at least preserving your rights consider that.
Good luck with everything . I must add that your positive attitude make those of us complaining about fp's on a trip look downright silly(speaking for myself only :) ).

Thanks so much Luckybee. I will certainly take into consideration what you said. It does make sense!:wave2:

Sorry it's been a while since I posted. Our network crashed and I haven't had any access to photos, notes, even our computer itself isn't working properly. DS is coming over today to hopefully fix everything. Thankfully DS passed computer geek a long time ago - he is now a computer God! :rotfl:

I will continue my TR as soon as everything is fixed. (Computers are great, but when they break, they are the biggest pains in the rear-ends! )

Whew, you certainly are having a rough go of it!! I hope all is back to normal soon!!

I am so relieved to hear that you are getting better... I cannot imagine how hard it must have been.

I loved seeing all of the wonderful outfits, head pieces and jewels you made for your trip - they are FANTASTIC!!!!! A girl after my own heart! :lovestruc

I just stopped by to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!
