Odd booking issue with VGF

I just looked at the availability for VGF in December 2021 for both the standard view and lake view.

Both of them are already missing the 6th and 7th of December but the 4th and 5th are still available. How is that possible? - maintenance? if so its a weird time to conduct maintenance on

Not surprised. Those are the fastest 2 weeks to book up for DVC. VGF is a small resort. Even the largest ones with hundreds of studios are booked up well before 7 months for those weeks.

Look at PVB studios and they have a ton more than VGF.

Does the fixed weeks have random start week days or does they all start with a Sunday or similar?

But still it’s only two of the days that are gone. If you have the 3rd you should be able to book the 3-10.

Even with fixed weeks the 6th and 7th shouldn’t be gone or at least more days should be gone as well as fixed weeks are 7 days.

It can only happen on the MS side of things. They will just say someone beat you to the rooms but can never explain how it can happen. It can't be GW's because those start Sundays.

I called MS on Nov. 30th to extend my reservation into December. I couldn’t do it online because I have a December UY. The night of December 6th was already gone for a dedicated 2BR at 3:00 AM EST on December 30...before it could have possibly been reserved by anyone at 11 months + 7 days...but all nights leading up to it were open. On January 1st, the night of December 7th was also gone before online booking opened at 8:00 AM.

Something strange is definitely going on.

I do not think this is true. CMs are bound to the same 11 month window as everyone else,

I think DVC has pulled some inventory or it’s that glitch that sometimes happens, The GV is now blocked most of that week,

I wonder if it has to do with renovations for some of the rooms?

I hear you, but why would they do renovations during the busiest 2 weeks of the DVC year. I think it's something else.

I just checked and all 2br categories have the same issue, they are fully booked 6th and 7th. I get that the lockoffs have the issue but also the non lockoffs that's strange...

1br standard view have the 6th fully booked but the 7th is available. The 1br lake view have full availability..

Isn’t the annual meeting usually around then? Could there be some strange connection to that?

FWIW, we have a 2BR reservation at VGF that includes the night of 12/6.

But I wonder if we're looking at this the wrong way. I wonder if DVC's 2% inventory may be somewhat fluid, or at least not consistently distributed. If so, this could be a case where DVC has allocated more of their point's inventory for that weekend as available for DVC members to book (or, conversely, they have a hold on more rooms for maintenance or their own cash bookings for Monday-Friday of each week, but don't have a hold on as many rooms for Saturday and Sunday night). It kind of makes sense from a maintenance perspective, as any planned maintenance is probably scheduled during weekdays.

So in this case the the 4h and 5th (Saturday and Sunday) still have availability, but Monday and Tuesday don't... and the days after the 7th just haven't been booked yet.

Would that explain it?

DVC is bound to the same booking rules with their points as any other member.

Since all VGF fixed weeks start on Sunday the 5th would also have to be booked for the 6th and 7th to be gone.

I've posted this before but several years ago there was a poster here who insisted several times that they had info that CM's were booking early. At the time I thought no way that DVC would allow the breaking of the 11 month rule.

Fast forward - it's either that, DVC themselves or poorly loaded inventory. I used to give them the benefit of the doubt for poor IT or poorly loaded inventory but the obviously blocked rooms for the 50th removed that from my mind.

FWIW, we have a 2BR reservation at VGF that includes the night of 12/6.

Dedicated or lockoff? Standard or Lake View? The oddity that I saw was with a dedicated Lake View 2BR but now I see that all 2BRs are unavailable for the 6th (not surprising at this juncture, but not the case on 11/30).

I was just about to post this exact same issue! It doesnt make any sense and surely impossible?
