Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I"m also wondering how long the NBA would really need to be sequestered. How many courts does WWoS have? They could tape a lot of games in one day and then just play them on TV when they want. I mean there will be no live fans so why not? Just have to have the reporters/tv people sign something that says they can't publish the results of the games. Just do what they do with reality tv shows.

From what I can gather, they have three indoor venues. Two of which are configurable up to 6 courts each, which would probably have to be paired down so they can do TV. So they probably could have five NBA games going on at once, which should be enough to do live games. More if they do outdoor games, which is something I'd watch as a non-NBA fan because I think I'd be interesting.

Yes, that’s why some of us think Epcot will stay closed longer.
Are college students (international obviously) concentrated in Epcot? So does what you're saying mean they would take all employees from Epcot who can return and place them elsewhere? Excuse my lack of knowledge on how that program works

I was referring to the international CP cast members.

Does anyone know the percentage of employees the college program accounts for? Wouldn't filling those spots be some of the hardest to fill if they did want to open fairly soon?
I think the number is around 10% of total employees are CPs, but CPs had to offer 24/7 availability and were often the main closing crew at the various locations. When they were sent home, they were sent a one question survey. "Would you be interested in returning to your program?" I think most answered yes. I'm sitting next to a girl that I know would jump at the chance to go back and sell some milk at Galaxy's Edge. She is expecting to have to reapply for the program next year and go through the process again, but if Disney really needed CPs back, there are many that would be willing to come. However, I think with reduced capacity they could probably staff it just fine with only FT and PT CMs. The only concern would be the International Programs who work a lot of the rides and restaurants in World Showcase, but even then I would think they could redeploy from other locations and cover it until they can get those CMs back.

International is mainly Epcot though there are some international cast at AK and AKL.

Other than the international cast member issue, I think it could make sense to open the WS restaurants next week. All the restaurants could set up tables outside, only patrons with reservations can enter the park... it seems like a great way to sell some overpriced food and lots of booze, but maybe the demand isn’t there for just locals who want to go to dinner.

Right, but I've been watching the Dibb and you can see for yourself what the availability is. The reports just confirm it. But as someone else said, it's gotten really tough as of today so I'm back to square one with my detective work. lol
What is the Dibb?

WWoS has three separate buildings. They could put more than one court per building but my guess is they would run more than one at the same time. So theoretically they could have three games at once. They might retrofit one as a training facility though. The Arena is the largest building of the three.

Technically they have 6 courts they could use. But they’re probably not going to use them all, as you said, one will more than likely be a training facility
Gambling is a multi billion dollar business so that would never work.

Games will be on a long tape delay regardless because with no fans to muffle players’ dialogue, they have to edit over the language used on the court, which means there will be no live gambling. There will be pregame bets, but none during the games

When I first heard the story of the NBA bubble at a moderate hotel, I thought no way. I'm still skeptical. From what I know of professional teams (I have a personal connection), these guys are used to much more spacious and luxurious digs and wouldn't be happy with moderate for any length of time--especially with families. The beds and bathrooms were issues I thought of immediately (as well as the food options, which I see someone else just mentioned below). The Four Seasons would have made much more sense to me--or the Grand Floridian if they could figure out how to cut off the DVC wing.

I have similar thoughts.....which is why I think the NBA players and families may be housed at the CR with the staff and media/their families/possibly MLS will be housed at CSR. Neither resort is currently showing any availability through August-ish. The CR also has lots of convention space that could be used for family entertainment. It has a very small footprint which would make security and concierge services a little easier to accomplish. The CR also has Disney owned food venues which is more ideal for the VIP guests.

But CR is attached to BLT, which is still open for reservations, not to mention 3 TS restaurants that are frequented by many that they haven't halted ADRs for. They can't do a bubble and still let all those people come to the resort. CSR has a bit over 1,900 rooms, and I'm sure if families come they will still just put them in one room and not spread them out. If anything WDW is using CR to move existing CSR guests.
Edit to add: CSR also has a lot of dining now that they finished the tower and the new place on the lake (whose name escapes me), more than enough to feed all the people.

Yeah I said they could put more than one court per building but I’m not sure they will.

I have never stayed CR but there was chatter social distancing might be especially problematic at that hotel due to the elevators being so busy. Anyone who stayed there have thoughts on that?

I stayed at BLT and did have to use the elevators a few times to go from the bottom floor up to the main atrium area (after running to contemporary grounds for my morning coffee or from the buses) and it could get a little busy depending on what time of day it is. If they don't close off BLT or the restaurants it would be impossible to have that bubble with the elevators no matter how crowded it got since you would still have outside people showing up. The tower at CSR would be no different with their elevators, but at least it's a bit easier to close off that resort since those TS restaurants aren't really the most popular.

And if they are doing this knowing they wont we open is wrong any way you look at it
Yes. I agree. Disney is not meeting my expectations for their ethics. We shouldn't be getting extensions or credits when services aren't rendered. And if we are willing to take ticket extensions, they should be offered as soon as the decision is made to be closed. Refunds should be automatic at the time decisions are made, not weeks later. Disney should be clear about how refunds will be handled for annual passes, not "well, decide if you want one, then we'll tell you how much money you get."

I realize I'm an unsecured creditor, but Disney is letting me SEE myself as an unsecured creditor, and that's bad for my relationship with them as a customer.
