Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

5317 is definitely a top-floor River View, as shown in dark blue below:

2332 is a nice location too, but it is about the closest on property to the ferry dock in case that's an issue for you.

To be honest, I don't normally suggest asking for specific room numbers anyway (which may well not be available) instead asking for what you want, and provide a general location idea. e.g. "TOP FLOOR not too far from main building, ideally as a corner room if possible - for example rooms like 3517 or 2332".

Where can I find the rest of this map with the other buildings? I've seen it once and have not been able to find it again

@Syndrome Would you mind if I posted your pics my Port Orleans website? I've got the textual info there already, but images would be nice too. Thanks.

Andre

Sure , be my guest Andre .
Sorry, the pictures are not better , it was getting dark last night and we were headed out of the pool when I took the pictures of the Info board . It was hard fighting the cross shadowing from the lights .
I can try to take some better pictures today if you want to keep the pictures more permanent on your site . Just let me know !

Also , let me know if you want some pictures of an HA King room with a roll in shower for your site .

We checked in yesterday with a reservation for a king room . Found out our room was a 1st floor HA king room and wasn’t too thrilled as we didn’t need a HA room . We just figured we would deal it, with as we got a 30% off AP discount on the room , and not complain . Got to the room , and we actually LOVE it . The walk in (roll in) shower is AWESOME ! The lower bed height is a plus , and plenty of railings in the large open bathroom to hang stuff , lol . Nice REAL pocket style bathroom door instead of a curtain too . All in all , we love this room ! We are in building 3 , so a very close walk to everything .

Yes, we were able to do this at POFQ during our stay last week. There is a water button on the touchscreen of the Coke Freestyle machines and it works whether there is an RFID chip present or not. My daughter asked a CM in the food court where she could fill her water bottle and she was directed to the machines.
Thank you. I knew there was a water button as I've used it for my refillable mug, but I was unsure if it worked without the RFID chip.

When we stayed on our honeymoon we had the same thought. We were told we had a king HA room and we were a little concerned but the bathroom was amazing!

I think a large portion of the King rooms (all over WDW) are HA rooms. Fewer percentage at the Mods since they do have a real live King booking category but still quite a few since the king beds affords them the room they need to make the room accessible. We've gotten quite a few HA rooms over the years too. They've never bothered us much either.

We were assigned a handicap room once also (5101 -- bathtub though, not roll-in shower) and we loved the room. Two people do not need two sinks! We did feel bad though, wondering if we took the room away from someone who needs it. But as we get older, I'm beginning to feel like we can honestly say we need it just for the extra stability of the grab bars in the tub area.

you can be certain that Disney would not assign a room to a non HA guest and let a guest that needs an HA room go without one

Quick questions....We are arriving at POFQ on March 23. Should I send a room request fax on March 18 or March 19? I wasn't sure if it should be there right before they start assigning rooms or on the first day they would start assigning rooms assuming they are still assigned 3-5 days out from arrival.

You can send a fax as early as you want. We usually call right after we book our room

It's actually better not to cut it too close. You can add a request right after you book, up until 4-5 days out.

ETA: sorry, guess I was wrong, see Andre's reply below.

Calling is fine any time, as all they will be doing is adding a note your your reservation file on the computer. Fax however goes directly to the room assignment team and would be best 3-5 days out as that's when they would be considering any upcoming bookings that need blocking out.

Ah okay. We’ve never faxed before so I wasn’t sure. I’ve actually never used a fax machine in my life

Thanks for the replies! We had our TA add our requests to our ressie when it was booked. I am sending a fax to HOPEFULLY reinforce the need for connecting rooms and to explain why we are requesting as well as offering to pay extra if needed for a higher view level to accomplish the request. Our TA only offers standard view for the room rate discount.

Talk to me about the pools and food/drink situation when the resort is full... Any advice? We’ll have 3 young kids in tow too.

ETA NM wrong thread, sorry

Connecting rooms are request only and not guaranteed, so have a back up plan if you don't get one.
