Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

Our flight time has changed and now we won't be flying back to the UK until 8.55pm, I know you can keep rooms up until 1pm if you ask, but I was wondering if you can keep them longer and if so what's the extra cost? Thanks

We’ve had late flights before to head back to Australia, I understand why you want to freshen up before such a long treck. When it has been that late elsewhere I’ve booked the room for an extra night. This trip our flight is around 5 with bus pickup around 2, so I’m just hoping for a late checkout.

I did notice on the PortOrleans.org site it mentioned somewhere about having a very late checkout, where you’re charged half rack rate for the extra x hours, it was subject to availability. I just went to find where it talks about it, but had no luck.

Thanks, will have a look at that.

If they don't need your room you can stay until 1:00 at no charge, 3:00 for 1/2 that nights rack rates and. any later than that up until the next day at 11 for full rack rates.

Anyone hear anything about the Mardi Gras parade yet . Is the March recreation schedule out yet ?
Also wondering if Jason and Billy or Greg will be playing the night of Mardi Gras ?
Keep checking Andre's site , and nothing yet .
We will be at PORFQ the week of Mardi Gras, and looking forward to that parade and activities !

Thanks to everyone for your input, I went ahead and requested room 5323 through Touringplans. After looking at the maps, it doesn't look like it's too far from anything. I called WDW again to see if we could change to a GV room but there are none for our special offer.

Thanks again! I'll report back after our trip and let you know how it turns out :-)

April 2009, we were in 5323. It was a great room. (And just for perspective, our trip in 2009 was 7 nights / 8 days, PH tickets and DDP; our total cost was $2152.80. I just priced it out for this year and it would come to $4902.92 + parking. Price has more than doubled in ten years.)

5323 is not classified as a River View room, it's a King Bed room. 3517 would be nice if you want a corner room (although you should note that it is fairly close to the elevators).

Andre

Oh my gosh, thanks for pointing this out! I thought I had in all my search criteria but it must have deleted when I went out and back in a hundred times looking.

I just changed (once again) and chose 2332…I think I have it right this time :-) I couldn't do 3517 because that's not River View and that's what I'm stuck with at this point.

Thanks again!

Bummer I had to change, I didn't realize that was a King room…that would definitely not work for the four of us :P

It's crazy how much the prices have gone up since our first trip in 2010 too. We stayed in The CR for 8 nights with a TPV for $5000, including park hoppers and the dining plan!

5317 is definitely a top-floor River View, as shown in dark blue below:

2332 is a nice location too, but it is about the closest on property to the ferry dock in case that's an issue for you.

To be honest, I don't normally suggest asking for specific room numbers anyway (which may well not be available) instead asking for what you want, and provide a general location idea. e.g. "TOP FLOOR not too far from main building, ideally as a corner room if possible - for example rooms like 3517 or 2332".

Okay, yes, I see that. I believe you said 3517 in the first post.

On Touringplans, they send the fax like this:
TO REQUEST THIS ROOM, PROVIDE DISNEY WITH THE FOLLOWING TEXT:
Bldg 5,Flr 3,NE-facing room.Exmple:5317,5318,5319,5320,5321,5322,5222,5221,5220

So it's not really asking for a specific room. I think I'll go back and search for more in building 5.

I don't love the views they show from 5317 on TP:

I appreciate the help! :-)

Thanks, that's the info I was after:) Now I can't remember:blush: If we want a 1pm checkout do I ask when we arrive or on checkout day?

Has anyone ever had success requesting a step stool or some other accommodation to help those who have trouble climbing into the new, higher beds? I'm not even sure what to ask for.

One of the grandparents struggled with this last time, and we have another stay coming up.

Just got back from another stay at POFQ. We have been to Disney over 10 times in the past 5 years, and we’ve never stayed at a resort more than once- except for POFQ. Don’t get me wrong, we loved everywhere else we’ve stayed. However, we just feel that for the money POFQ is the best value.
On this trip for the first time, we visited POR and the Ol’ Man Island pool. The four of us couldn’t decide which pool we liked better. Overall, we liked our pool better, but the hot tub was better at POR, so it was a toss up. Half of us liked the POR food court better, the other half liked the POFQ food court better.
We just had our APs expire, but we all agreed we would go and stay there for a weekend just to enjoy the resort :)

Just booked POFQ for May 11-15, 2019! First time at this resort. Have stayed at POR and loved it!

I'm just seeing about opting out of mouse keeping. I'm fine with this but with 4 in my room we will need towels daily.
How do you go about getting towels? Also what benefit is given for doing this?
I’ll be there almost the same time! Can’t wait!

We will be there as well. I figure it will come out tomorrow with the March recreation calendar.
