I love credit cards so much!

Might be something to keep an eye on DPs for. Usually, Chase will not approve a card without the offer attached. So if both CSR and CSP were approved, they should get the bonuses for both.

However, in all the comments about MMS Tesla douchebag, someone pointed out that some other blog he read recently had essentially repackaged the r/churning double dip guide and passed it off as his own travel hack. This is how tips, tricks, and techniques die. These bloggers and wannabe bloggers don’t care and don’t get their money (or savings) from the same tricks, so they don’t care if nice things die; they get their money from website clicks, affiliate marketing, and getting people to sign up for credit cards through them. Any story to promote that end, they’ll push until they kill it.

Uggghhhh, now I think I need to hold on my SW double dip til we know, right? If the DD is dead, I need to go biz/personal instead.

I've been calling in all day and finally was able to book the st Regis bora bota on points, but they said it would be 158,000 points per night. I said it should only be 60,000 but they said nope 158k/night. Hmm might have to HUCA and see what happens.
Talked to someone who said these rooms will definitely be going for 158k points/night. She said that since they are suites they are more points. I guess I will have to dream up somewhere else to go!

Well that stinks! What do they consider a standard room? The St. Regis is a cat 7 and 60K points for a standard room. You might be able to pay for an upgrade from there. I was contemplating the same thing but for Thanksgiving next year. I guess I'll be shooting for the Maldives at the Conrad if that is the case. I was also looking at the Al Maha in Dubai. That would be worth doing if it is at 60K points a night.

Head is spinning.

Starting travel hacking. Signing DH up for a card. CSR or CSP? No business. Can hit min spend in 4-6 weeks, then I'll get a new card, and keep alternating. We got Amazon Prime Card a year or so ago, I got a Wells card last year, He got added to my Nordstrom card last month. Nothing open prior to that. Both have 800+ scores and pay everything off. I do have a medical card that has a balance currently 0% until December, and then I need to roll it to another 0% card.

Planning a trip 1st week of June next year. Want to stay at the Polynesian due to daughter's disability (monorail & large base rooms + POG Juice & Dole Whip). ETA, we don't fly much at all. We're driving to WDW. Looking at flying just the two of us June 2020, but nothing until then really.

What should we do? How should we alternate & use referrals best? DD freaks me out like they'll shut me down for breaking rules or something. Too nervous.

What time zone are chase recon hours? Asking for friend.

ETA: sorry my post didn’t make sense. I was pulling hours from DoC but didn’t see time zone. Now I see it’s Eastern.

Looks like you and your husband have opened 2 cards in the last 24 months .....it’s recommend to start with applying for Chase due to their 5/24 rule...
If you sell on eBay or do anything on the side it could be considered a business...and you can get 80,000 ur points you use your name and SS number to apply..if your not comfortable doing so..the chase saphare reserve or chase sapphire preferred offer 50,000ur. bonus points ....
Best to each apply individually...since a authorized user counts against 5/24....
Your not breaking any rules..lol..my husband says that too but we are working within the rules .You apply for say the CSP....then refer your husband....when you both met the spend you will have 108,000UR points...I’d you did the same with the business CIP you’d have 190,000

Thanks! I'm looking at either the CSR or CSP for him fir the first card. Sort of leaning toward the R. I'd like to end up with a card to use on the actual trip that you can reimburse yourself with points, so like Barclays or Cap One Venture. Or would the Disney card be better for that?

As much as I love Disney and have had the card since day 1your much better off using the CSR or CSP ..they both transfer points to different airlines and hotels for future trips...not familiar with capital one so I’ll let others answer

Oh, no I meant get the CSR & CSP to pay for the trip, but the Barclays, Cap One or Disney to use ON the actual trip. Like if I run out of Target GCs.

Thanks for the DP...we have pre check as well...so we’d have to go,through security twice to use it...not sure if my husband will be on board to do this....he likes to get to the airport early but it’s to get through security...
My family traveling with me didn't want to risk going through security twice so I actually went to the lounge by myself. It was peaceful and relaxing, ha! Boy were they kicking themselves later when I showed them pics of my wine and food, and also how easily I went through security again. Of course YMMV but I was very glad I went!

Not sure if this is a new DP, or if I just missed it. A friend was planning to DD the CSR/CSP today. She applied for CSR and got the 30-day. She is 2/24 with only a DD of the SW cards last Sept. She has no other chase cards. I figured it was CL issues on the two SW so she called recon. They said it was because of how much credit she already has been extended. She offered to drop both SW limits and they said they could not do that and that the app has to go for a second review. She is a SAHM and so used her dh's income. They asked about his job and wanted to know details about what he does (he's a cardiologist). Asked if she would accept 10k as a CL on the CSR. Isn't that just a weird recon call, or is that how they normally go? And of course, now it is not looking like the DD will happen :(

Before I would look to Barclays, Cap One or Disney...I would get ALL of these Chase cards:
Chase Ink Preferred (CIP) - biz card
Chase Sapphire Reserve (CSR)
Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP) - FYI this has to be double dipped with the CSR to get both
Chase Ink Cash (CIC) - biz card
Chase Ink Unlimited (CIU) - biz card
REFER Player 2 to CIP
REFER Player 2 to CSR
REFER Player 2 to CSP (again as a double dip)
Player 2 CIC
Player 2 CIU

I think most people here would agree that you will be hard pressed to get a better value out of Barclays or Cap One.

We'd love to help continue your strategy - that's what we do here :) If you want to support fellow DISers, send me a PM and we can hook you up with our private reddit group.

I've read of tough recon calls like that, but they seem to be out of the norm. Sounds like she got tough rep. A while back, there seemed to be a trend of reps not even allowing reallocation of CLs.

I think best operating procedure is definitely drop your Chase CLs with enough extra credit to reallocate, if it comes to that, and enough time for the lower limits to report to the credit bureaus before applying to increase the chances of auto-approval.

She was on for 30 mins! And didn't even come away with an approval...Her dh is the one really doing all the driving of this and she is VERY reluctant and here she has to call. I had told her dh that it should be quick and easy and she just needs to offer to move credit. Nope. I felt awful:(

CSR and CSP can both be “cash back” cards as well. You can apply UR (ultimate rewards) towards your balance like cash but they are worth more to book things thru Chase or transfer to hotels or airlines.
What types of things would you be paying for ON the trip that you want cash back for?
