Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Page 1212

I was finally able to get a room at the YC for my trip July 29-August 3 for my Birthday trip. Can't wait..78 days until I am home again.

:woohoo:

I'll add your dates to the list.

:thumbsup2

As for the ironing board, never used it, but if it's like the one in my house, it should be pretty simple to use!

Or if it is like the one in my house, not used at all!

Sort of a BC question, sort of not. Does anyone know if you’re staying at BC and you are a DVC member but not staying on points rather you’re paying do you still pay for parking?

:welcome: to the thread and thanks for your question (which I presume someone has answered).

::yes::

Just be aware that if the pool gets closed due to weather issues (lightening especially) the whole pool deck is closed & off limits to guests. We made the mistake of putting some stuff in there one year when our room wasn't ready when we checked in. Then we went to Epcot for a little bit. It started storming by the time we got back & the pool was closed. The lifeguards would not let us go get our stuff from the locker. We checked back periodically & finally one of the lifeguards went & got our stuff for us. I know that is not something most people do & it was the only time we ever did something like that. But I just like to warn people since it can happen.

Thank you for that helpful reminder based on your personal experience.

:goodvibes

Glad you found it! We're staying at the YC in June, and I'm hoping to get the YC maps at the front desk this visit! *fingers crossed*

That would be awesome!

:magnify:

We are in process of booking Beach Club for Labor Day Weekend - August 31 to Sept. 3. I can't understand what Be Our Guest is. We have been to Disney many times but this time are bringing extended family to celebrate Grandma's 70th birthday. Are there any promotions or incentives?

:welcome:

As others have pointed out, the Be Our Guest List on this thread is just for fun, a place to list when guests are staying at the resort, any special celebrations.

I'll add your trip there when I update it next.

:thumbsup2

Can we be added to the Be Our Guest list too? Staying at the BC garden view. August 10-18. Just me and my 2 teens.

Joining back in on this thread. So excited to be staying at Beach Club again in January 2019 when we return for Marathon Weekend. We stayed here before on the DVC side, so this will be our first stay here in a regular resort room!

:welcome: back!

I'll add your trip to the Be Our Guest list.

Please give us your impression of the resort room compared to a DVC stay after your trip. People ask all the time!

:cheer2:

We just returned home on Sunday from a weeklong stay at YC. Last year we stayed at BC and LOVED it so I was a little worried too, but we moved our reservation over because of a discount as well.

It’s definitley a less crazy, quieter feel in the lobby. BC gets the edge in vibe and colors. That said, my biggest gripe about BC rooms are the lack of any space to put your stuff. The refurb YC rooms are amazing!!! There is SO much space - we didn’t even fill all the cubbies! It was so nice to have the four of us in there comfortably and not tripping over all our stuff. The hard floor, the bathroom - everything was great. The staff was always really nice. No complaints at all from me. I can’t comment on the Kings because we needed 2 queens, but we did not make any requests and ended up with a ground floor room facing the quiet pool and around the corner from the market. If I stayed again, I would want the same location. The Ale & Compass Market was nice and had everything we needed (my kids loved the Coke Freestyle machines). And most importantly, SAB is still the pool!

Like I said, it’s not as “fun and relaxed” in its theming but it’s great and you won’t be disappointed at all. Have a great trip!

:welcome: to posting on the thread and thanks for this and subsequent informative posts!

:thumbsup2

It's only part of the pool, like I said in the other thread. I read it has been confirmed and that people can ask their TA. Mid August into the Fall.

:welcome: to posting on the thread. Thanks for the important info.

I have 1 day 1 park tickets tight time frame and if I go to animal kingdom early 1 morning for FOP and Epcot that night for dessert party I need park hoppers for my group - can I gather their magic bands once they are inside the gate at SAB and go to the international gateway to add the hoppers - or will they have to keep the bands on at all times? I am trying to do this undercover since one of the people will be my daughter in law, who will have a fit if she knew how much it would to add the hoppers just so she could do FOP.

just booked a YC stay for two weeks or so from now ... should i expect NOT to be able to take boat to HS ? and do all YC rooms have Keurigs?
:thanks:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1. Does your trip start in late May or early June?

Correct- it sounds like the boat to HS will not be operating until sometime mid-summer.

Yes, I believe all of the YC rooms have Keurig coffee makers.

:cool1:

Sounds amazing! We are staying at the YC Sept 16-21; its our first time at an Epcot resort. It made sense for us since we are going for F&W. Its just DH and I, so the "less crazy, quiet feel" will work for us. I'm really excited about the pool as well, since we generally do Disney at a slower pace nowadays, and will have some downtime.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list.

The Yacht Club will be the perfect base for a laid back, Food & Wine, pool/resort trip.

:thumbsup2

Coming out from lurking to say hi! We're staying at BC from Dec 7-14. We've never been to BC and are super excited! We have a water view booked because it was all that was available. I'm trying to figure out what area is the quietest and darkest (I read a thread somewhere about the pool lights being very bright at night). I think Touring Plans room data is out of date and not complete so that isn't helping me much. I'm thinking a Lake view would be better than a pool view, so I may request that.

We're really looking forward to swimming, hopefully the Dec weather will cooperate!

:welcome: and :wave2:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list next time I do an update.

A lake view is a good request. Hopefully the nifty black constellation curtains that were added with the room renovation help to block any light from the pool or other sources.

Good question. Do you actually need the physical Magic Bands to add on the hopper feature for the day, or do you just need the account info?

Thoughts, people?

Not sure where to post this question...We are staying at YC with an AP discount but are also DVC members. Can we use the DVC laundry at BC villas for free since we are DVC members?. Need to know how many clothes to pack!! Thanks.

Hello! We are at the beach club Nov 13-17. We had originally booked AkL but we were able to make the switch becasuenofmthe pool refurb.

Our last trip to disney, we wanted to add days to our tickets and were able to do that at the resort concierge desk. We were at the fort. I did not need everyone's band for that.

We are 3 weeks out and I've just read about the boat service to HS being down.

What's the bus service like to HS when this happens? also we planned to go from HS to IG for lunch at Rose and crown, what's our best way to get to IG now? Walking probably not an option!

Thanks
We just got back. DO NOT TAKE THE BUS FROM HS AFTER FIREWORKS. It took over an hour bc of all the construction in the parking lot. The busses had to share lanes with all the cars. No separate lane. We also waited 45 for a bus. I’m sure it was bc the parking lot was a mess. Just walk back. Even if your feet hurt. Trust me!

One of my very favorite resort tips is this one (which lives on Page 1, Post 14- Other Useful Info):

How Do I Keep My Grey Goose Slushie from Sloshing out of the Flimsy Cup They Gave Me?

About the only problem with the Grey Goose Slushie is that it is sold in a very flimsy martini glass. I find that as I drained more and more slushie, I was surprisingly more and more likely to tip over the cup while booking across the World Showcase trying to balance the cup and also snap pictures while walking. There must be a better way
If you don’t have your mug, ask them to put it in a regular cup. That’s how I get mine. Those martini glasses are flimsy

Is anyone out there now had any experience with the bus to HS due to the friendship boats being down? How long does it take/does it pick up any other hotels? Is it quicker to walk?
Thanks.
It was awful. After fireworks we dropped off at Swan, Dolphin, Yacht and BC last. We waited 45 min for the bus and it took over an hour once we were on the bus to drop everyone off. I wish we would’ve walked back. It wasn’t as bad on the way TO HS. We did wait a while for the bus to come though.
