Vintage resort pics?

This isn't exactly "vintage" but interesting. It's from 1996, we're standing at the dock for the boat launch at the Yacht & Beach Club. Looking across you can see the Boardwalk being built!

I seriously just went through my parents pictures from their trips to Disney in the mid 70s yesterday! It started with me being  when told my dad actaully went on SpaceMoutain (he is the biggest wimp ever! Doesn't even like ferris wheels!!) and how there was a picture of him "praying" after he got off... so I went to find it, which lead to about an hour hunt for the picture! Found pictures from their second trip as well as the tour book and such.

I will try and put them up later, I don't have a scanner, but hopefully taking a picture of it will work. (and we did eventually find the picture of my dad, but it's on the slides so won't be abe to put those up...)

Those darned slides. Slides are the reason I have no pictures of our family trips to Disney in the early to mid 70's!! I have NO idea whatever happened to the slides after my parents passed away. I remember seeing a box of slide carousels, but have no idea what became of it. There was so much stuff. I really wish we had those pics. Slides can be scanned... if I had them.:sad2:

Aww that sucks Mindy... hope you can find them someday! Yah there are lots of slide scanners out there now, I thought we had bought one actually, but we had just borrowed it from a friend and it didnt work on our computers! :confused3

Anyway I took some pictures of the stuff my parents had! They went during Christmas time so it was all decorated...

My parents got like a souvenir book, so I took pictures of the resorts pages. As well I found the like guide book they got at MK, so I put up some pics from there! I put them here:

(There's some pictures of skaters after the WDW ones so you can ignore those, or keep looking if you like Virtue/Moir!)

Thanks.... I actually remember that old logo.

I may not have our photos, but I actually have the stuffed Minnie Mouse my parents bought me, and my sister has her Mickey. Mickey was wearing a Mickey Mouse Club shirt. Minnie's dress dry-rotted so she is naked!!

I couldn't help but notice a tanker overturned in the Delaware but it was slightly smaller news than capacity crowds at Disney!!:lmao:

As a child in 1980 our family visited Disney World, and I have posted below the guide we received, featuring maps, ride descriptions, the resorts, and even touring plans!

I hope it will be legible:

Yeah... it worked!!! I wonder if "Golf Resort" is the Resort now known as Shades of Green. That was the Disney Inn, which was a golf resort. I have an old hard cover Disney coffee table glossy that includes the Disney Inn, The Disney Marketplace Village and The Treehouse Villas and the Disney Village. It also includes River Country. I think I must have gotten it in 1990 during our March trip because it does have MGM Studios but not the big sorcerer's hat.

Here's the one page that still appeared as a link.

Love it!! I wonder when they went from ABCD and E tickets to daily admission?:confused3 I went with a friend in 1984 and I don't remember ticket books. I think we paid a daily admission price. That would mean that sometime between 1980 and 1984 it changed. I remember almost all those rides!! I loved Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Don't you LOVE the crazy hats on the two ladies in the photo to the left of the dumbo ride pic.:rotfl:

What a wonderful thread. I never noticed it until tonight. My family has been in Orlando and working at Disney since it opened. I will see what I can dig up and post. Great thread and thanks to everyone for sharing.:thumbsup2
