Would you DCL again without the DIS?

I would most certainly sail with DCL without being part of a larger group. In fact, we're going to try it for the first time this June on the Dream. I can't wait to hear all about the new ship and experience it first hand in June. It should be awesome! :boat:

I have booked a dummy date for a future cruise. I am not planning on the podcast cruises for this date - can't do June and December was very hectic time of year for the cruise in hindsight. I am waiting for the rest of 2012 to be released to make my decision on the itinerary. I would like to cruise with some of my friends, but not necessarily part of a large group. Like Todd, I want time to relax and enjoy the cruise experience to it's fullest.

We have, and will again, cruise with DCL by ourselves. But I have hard time believing that any other group can throw the type of cruise party that the DIS/Dreams has thrown on the last two Podcast Cruises. It would hard for ANYONE to measure up to what John has been able to put together. We will be cruising again with the DIS crew!!

FWIW, most everytime a DCL ship goes out there is a group from the DIS on the ship. So you are always sailing with the DIS!!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Since my first DCL cruise was in 2003, I can say that I had a good time pre-DIS group already and knew what to expect.

Do I like the large group things? Yes and no. Yes because I get to meet a bunch of people, but no because I felt that I had a lot of stuff planned that conflicted with other "stuff" I might have wanted to do. There's just not enough time to do everything, even without scheduled events?

But the events were so enjoyable that I did not regret one moment of "missing" anything else. I definitely feel that I had gotten my money's worth on those. I don't usually like "shorter" cruises, because I like having at least two sea days. So I would probably want my next cruise on the Fantasy.

With the DIS or without, I'd still want to go on DCL again. :wizard:

I'm definitely cruising DCL again. I already have a 4 night Dream cruise booked for Feb, a 5 day in May and a 4 day in Sept. Taking my Mom on her very 1st cruise & can't wait.

I booked a dummy date for PCC 4.0 so I'm looking forward to that one. Oh & I have a date booked on the Fantasy for 2012.

Kinda went "cruise crazy" but I love it combined with a few days stay at the parks...:lmao:

I'll definately do DCL again. We have three cruises on the books with them-Alaska, PCC 3.0 and a dummy date that once Disney releases the rest of 2012 we will determine what we are going to do.

I definately would, as I would like to have more time to do other cruise things...I wanted to do the DIS things this time and enjoyed it very much....I had a great time on PCC 2.0 and I loved meeting everyone. I have booked for PCC 3.0, hoping to bring more people with me next time.

So true - the Eastbound Transatlantic this year had almost 300 DISers. There was lots of time to explore the ship since we had 6 straight days at sea.

I would definately book DCL again without the DIS (oh yeah, I did that in April) but longer is more relaxing.

Absolutely! We have taken many non-PCC cruises and are booked for June 2012 on the Dream (not PCC 3.0). And we didn't experience any service issues (food or cleanliness) on this trip. Our stateroom host James was amazing and took extremely good care of us!

For those of you looking for a longer cruise, did you book 3.0? It's six days! I so can't wait!

I would love to cruise with all the DISers again but I know I am in the minority but I personally would love a 3 night cruise. Not a big fan of cruises in general. Looking forward to the next december event so I can be on land :rotfl:

I would say we are total opposites. I enjoyed the fact that our Nassau day was a wash and most folks spent time on the ship whether they planned to or not. Got to hang out and meet more friends.

If you are not a fan of cruises, do not do a cruise.
Just be with you friends (Dreams Unlimited, DIS boards or otherwise) on land. You will have a great time in many ways and the cost will likely be lower than going on a cruise.

i have to agree, when i did PCC 1.0, i felt the same way, so many great events, but i felt like i was running from morning until night packed full of stuff with no time to relax. It didn't help that I was leading my mom (vision impaired) around, so that made it hard to do stuff i wanted to do as well. I did enjoy all the events and do not for a second regret them, but would like to experience the cruise without a large group too.

This was also my first cruise ever- i had never sailed before, disney or otherwise. I really enjoyed it. I didn't do this most recent PCC because i knew my hubby and family would not care about most of the events and I would be on my own doing them. given i am super shy in person and like it or not, the boards can be cliquish (not complaining, just how it is), i just decided it wasn't for me.

I met some wonderful people the first time, but given how much bigger the cruise was this time, i wasn't sure it would be for me since i have a hard time inserting myself into the group anyways. I am sad about missing though, hearing how wonderful Jodi was and the Bob Gurr thing too. We saw Jodi at the Candlelight Processional though on 12/8 but i wished i could have heard her sing!

I can't wait to try a DCL cruise with my family sometime and really relax. While i loved all the wonderful events the DIS planned, it was a little overwhelming at times. I can only imagine how busy it must have been for those involved in planning it all. Really hoping to talk the hubby into trying the Dream maybe in 2012 or 2013, we will see!!! Can't wait to let my little guy try out the kids facilities, they look awesome. I will definitely cruise with the mouse again though. :wizard: and would highly recommend it to my friends. DH's only disappoint is there is no casino on the ship. :rotfl::confused3 can you imagine- some Mickey or Scrooge McDuck slots? :wizard::laughing:

Land or Sea. As long as it's Disney.... They are sooo accomodating for special needs.

Unless you travel as family, with 2 rooms. We spent more on land than on the cruise.

John and I have actually met an older couple that live on Royal Caribbean.

There lodging, food, entertainment are all included.

There is a DR on board and they do laundry at different ports.

They were quite lovely and we enjoyed getting to spend some time with them.

They seem to think that cruising is much less expensive than living on land.
