World of Disney in NYC

When we went in December 2006 we met Santa Goofy, Chip and Dale wearing Xmas hats. When we went in May 2008, we met Alice and the Queen of Hearts. Their was also one princess almost every day at 5pm. We met Cinderella and Aurora on 2 different days. I really wish that Statue of Liberty Minnie and Firefighter Donald would come out more often....:sad2:

just to be clear, there are not meet & greets every day. it's usually thursday-sunday but sometimes that changes. the site should have details.

The website is stating they have meet 'n greets on each day, except for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We did go on a Monday a couple weeks ago. As for wait times, we saw the schedule, and waited about 10 minutes for it to open, and were the 3rd group in line.

It's a great place to get your Disney fix when you're in NYC.

I believe it's the only store outside of WDW & DL where you can purchase Disney Parks-branded merchandise.

it may be for the season. it's usually thursday-sunday. they did change it from friday-monday for may and may have just expanded for the summer. the point is to check the site for it (the days/times are also posted on the front door)

Oh, thanks for posting this - I had no clue about this! Anyone know how far this would be from American Girl? Am looking to take my girls up there late October for that - this would be a big bonus to the trip to see some characters and get us in the mood before our November WDW trip!

It is right across the street. I believe I seen it when we were there last. I was talking to my DH about getting me this tinker bell print for my birthday the next day and the CM gave me a birthday pin. It looks like the same type you get at WDW but says NYC world of Disney "It's my birthday on it" I love this store.

I've always wanted to visit New York - getting to visit a WoD store would make my trip perfect! :cloud9:

We've already booked for WDW for next April, but maybe I'll finally get to visit NY in 2010 (fingers crossed!) :goodvibes

american girl is a few blocks south i believe, same side of the street. further down is build-a-bear

I know that this is off topic, but the Build A Bear in NYC is AMAZING!! They have a bear cafe on the ground floor where you have lunch with your bear--they bring little highchairs to the table for the bear and will "give" you a bear to eat with if you don't have one. For anyone with little ones, I think it's a must in NYC. The lunch is really just mildly OK and it is a little pricey, but we go every year and my kids talk about it constantly. Just an idea for anyone who is there!

The World of Disney store is awesome...definitely great for holding you over until your next trip to the world.

My DW and I were there a few weeks ago with our DS (2.5). It was a Sunday at about 4:30, and the store was closing soon (I think that time is right). Anyway, we made it upstairs for the meet and greet right in time to get in to see Cinderella on one end of the room, and then Belle on the other end. DS really interacted well with the princesses, and it was a great meet-and-greet.

After we left the room, we went over to the photopass booth to check out the pics (we didn't buy them, b/c we're going to the world next week, so we're hoping to combine the NY pics with our vacation ones). The manager/handler came out of the meet and greet room and told us that the meet and greet would be over in about ten minutes and the princesses wanted us to bring DS back after they were done.

So, ten minutes later we were escorted through the back door of the meet and greet room, and both Cindy and Belle were waiting for DS. They took another group of pictures (including the "each princess kissing a cheek" photo). It was great. Didn't expect a magical moment 2,000 miles away from the world.

Thought I'd share the story and confirm that the stoer is awesome, at least in our few experiences there.

The American Girl Store is at 609 fifth avenue and World of Disney is at 711 fifth avenue. Last time I was in NYC I took a nostalgic trip to the American Girl store on the way to World of Disney. It was not very far at all, and it was fairly easy to find.

We were there a couple of weekends ago, what fun!!!! We happened to get there at opening and when you walk in, there is a line up of all the CM's and they are clapping for all the first guests of the day. The character meet and greet was terrific. We had Cinderella and Belle and they took so much time with my daughter. Goofy also was there a little later and did an exercise routine which my daughter loved. They did have a Photopass photographer there and they got some great shots. The art gallery on the top floor is fantastic and it really does help to see park merchandise when you can't get back to Downtown Disney for a long while. Oh and while we were there they were offering free face painting for High School Musical and Camp Rock fans. All tolled we probably spent 2 hours then had lunch at a great restaurant nearby. The purpose was to let my Dad spend a Disney Dollars we had given him for father's day. If you can get there, I recommend it! It's also not too far from FAO Schwartz, which doing both in one day is probably a kids dream come true!

I went last weekend and it was great! Not as big as the store at DTD, but still awesome. I probably spent an hour in that store, and we saw Goofy, Donald, and Cinderella. I'll post some pics tonight. BTW, if you have a Disney World annual pass, you save 10% off, just like at the World of Disney at DTD.

Hi!

I didnt know about the 10% with AP's!!!! I went in May and didnt take advantage of the 10%! Thats good to know for next time!! thanks!!!

By the way, was Donald wearing his regular outfit or his firefighter outfit?
Thanks!:goodvibes

Yeah, make sure you get a cast member who knows about the 10% off with an annual pass! They also have merchandise from all the Disney on Broadway shows. They were selling the Mary Poppins umbrella when I was there a couple of months ago, along with things from Lion King, Little Mermaid, etc. Fun store. Oh, and they have all the " I Love NY" stuff only with a Mickey head on it! Too cute.

A little Disney wayyyyyy up north!! That's pretty cool-our Disney store around here just closed:sad1: It's too bad the store is about a 5 hour drive for us.

IF I remember this correctly...
if you are walking from one to the other (we walked from AG to WOD, it was more the 5 but less than 10min) You will walk right by Sain Patrick's Cathedral. We stopped outside of it and it was stunning. Took a couple of pics. Just a little 2 sec sight seeing trip. ;)
