The anti-dining trip report that could have been a disaster but ended up being Yacht-some!! April 2021 at The Yacht Club! Complete 11/5!

APRIL 11, 2021
HELP US, MAMA MELROSE, YOU'RE OUR ONLY HOPE



While we were standing there trying to decide what to do,
we checked the app and MMRR only had about a 20 minute wait
so we headed over there.
Parts of the line were covered a bit by the umbrellas
and I don't think our outside wait was even 10 minutes, which was good.
But we were still pretty soggy as we headed inside
and the CMs asked everyone to remove their ponchos…I can see why!



From there, we went back over to SWGE to ride the Millennium Falcon.
The line for this was almost all indoors, which was nice!






We let Allie and Ava be the pilots which was a terrible decision,
but who's going to tell a 5 year old they can't be the pilot? Not me.
So my mom and I sat behind them and held on for dear life.

I've yet to have a fun ride on this, I just don't really care for it
but at least it passed some time and we dried off a bit.

When we got out, it was still pouring
and we were nearing the end of our patience with this rain.
We decided to go over to Mama Melrose early
and ask if there was any way we could be seated a little early.
This was around 4 pm and our ADR was for 5.


We found a corner inside the lobby to wait in
and they did indeed seat us around 4:30


Yikes! Just look at the frizz in our hair
The rain had done wonders for our looks this day!






I did enjoy my nice hot Mint tea which did a nice job of warming me up!

I bet! That's a looong time for rain to be falling. (In Florida.)

MAMA MELROSE SAVES THE DAY


Our food arrived a short while later and was all pretty basic Italian fare,
but we've always enjoyed our meals there.
Allie was a little sad that her Penne Alla Vodka
was no longer on the menu but she made do.
Her and my mom split spaghetti with meatballs (on the side)
and a margherita pizza.

The bread came first and was REALLY good…warm and crusty!
I personally love olive oil to dip it in but I didn't have any this day.








Ava got the kid pizza which definitely doesn't look as appetizing...


I got the vegetarian minestrone soup, which was delicious.
I finished it down to the last drop


Ava's meal came with dessert so she got a little sundae...


We loved our meal there as we have in the past
and this will continue to be on our list of must-dos!

And FINALLY when we headed back outside, the rain had mostly stopped!

We stopped to take some pics with our favorite snowman...


and muppet fountain.




And then headed back to the YC.
It did cross our minds to stick around at this point
since most of the crowds had cleared out and the rain stopped,
but we were DONE.
Just soggy and cold and gross and all I wanted to do was get back,
take a hot shower, put on warm, dry clothes, and stay in.

So did I get to do that?
Well yes and no!
We had another ADR for that evening
that Allie had been waiting for
and there was no way I could talk her out of missing it!

Why?

Ugh. I'm not sure. I think I've actually been the pilot once and was terrible at it so that wasn't fun, and then the other couple times I've been the gunner or the other one in the way back, which is the worst. Maybe it's because I've never been on with anyone who actually knows what they're doing? Would that make a difference? I'll report back in August after we ride with Nicholas as the pilot because even though he's never been on, I'm sure he'll be a better pilot than any of us!

Nah. You all look great.

Run, don't walk, to your optician and get your eyes checked!

Ummmm….IASW, HM, POTC, Soarin', LWTL…stuff like that. Up until recently, Soarin' was the most "thrilling" ride he'd go on, but he now LOVES ROTR! I made sure to NOT tell him about the small drop or he never would have gone on!

Mike sounds just like Bill. He is not a fan of any of the coasters either although he will do BTMR.

Nothing worse than feeling cold and damp. A nice hot shower and fresh clothes sound perfect!

Ava wasn't too sure about this one.
She said she liked it, but when we ask her if she wants to go on again, she'll say no!
I think we'll get her back on in August,
especially since we'll all be going on (well, except for Mike ).

He'll be chilling on #MikesBench, so all will be well

and spontaneously decided to try one, sans cheese sauce, of course.

That is tough. You want to think you can make the most of it but sometimes it's just hard.

We probably would have left but we had an ADR later for Mama Melrose
that Allie was REALLY looking forward to.

We haven't eaten here yet. One day maybe. Seems good enough.

We've been to MM a handful of times and always enjoyed our meals there. We just love Il Mulino so much it's hard to do any other Italian there!! And now that we've tried Terralina it makes it harder! But I'd say MM is our 2nd fave TS in HS after HBD.

For sure if you were wet, although the A/C is almost always on and wet and A/C is an awful combo! I HATE being cold!!

BTMR is a good compromise! But the BIG question…will he fly?? I wouldn't care about any of the rides if he would just fly on a plane!
