:yay: Will you be there for Thanksgiving?? :)

Nope...leaving the Tuesday before. Trying to avoid the insanely busy days...hopefully it isn't too bad...going from 11/14-11/20. Never been in November before. Have done December, just before Christmas and it wasn't too bad. Hopefully at least the first couple days won't be too busy. And now that today is October 1st, I can finally say, I am going to Disney next month!

Booked as POP first-timers, checking in 12/29 until 1/4! Happy New Year! Me, DH, DD9

We have a preferred room. Being close to the main building and close to the bus stop is important. I don't mind the walk, but trying to get a sleepy 9 yr old back to the room after a long day is of high priority. Not to mention, I'm notorious for going to pick up something from the cafe or store and forgetting something.

The theming looks fun. I'd love to have warm weather for our non-park days for the pool. When they say "heated", how heated does that mean?

Why do people go nuts over POP more so than most every other resort, from Deluxe to Value? #CultFollowing. I have to see for myself. So excited!

Heated is 82. At least that's what I was told when I have been in December. And if you ask me, 82 is just not that warm! Of course it all depends on the weather. I have been twice in December, just before Christmas. Both trips had chilly days, and slightly warmer days, but nothing really hot. But I have read many a post where people have hot weather for their winter trips. You pack for both and hope for warm, sunny days!

We are headed to POP on Saturday. I am trying to fill out the online check in, but it asks for any special requests. I payed for a preferred room, but I don't know if that means I still need to choose a building on the online check in. If so, what is the building I need to request? I have a three year old and want to be close to transporation and food court.

Thanks for your help!

Going to be at POP first time Oct 22nd to the 27th!!!:cool1: Can someone tell me if they have hairdryers (blowdryer)in the rooms and if so are they any good? Trying to pack light and really do not want to take the one from home.

I am à bit disapoiinted about Mousekeeping.
Didnt even Made the bed... We put the sheets back, but the pillow were not placed.
Looks Like only the towels were changed...
I leave a. 5$ Bill each morning.

I would have liked one towel animal during the stay, lol

There have been several comments here about the poor Mousekeeping! Did you let the front desk know? Hope they get that taken care of! It's not what you expect, to come back to your room and find that this hasn't been taken care of. In three stays at Pop, I've never gotten a towel animal, so I'm not expecting that, but I do expect the beds made and the room straightened.

There is a blow dryer on the wall by the sink. It is one of those standard hotel-attached to the wall dryers. They are fine for people with short or thin hair. Not good for people who have thick or long hair. I was fine with it; DD 17 usually just let her hair air dry (that's fine in the summer, but in cooler weather we bring her industrial strength hair dryer).

Has this been happening every day you've been there? It looks like you checked in on 9/27. Housekeeping should be cleaning your room every day and changing your sheets per the schedule noted on a card in your room. Is the bathroom and sink area not being cleaned, too? That is NOT the usual and should not be happening. You need to call Housekeeping and explain that you are not getting the service done properly. If they don't respond, talk to a manager. We've stayed at Pop several times and have had very good experience with Housekeeping.

Don't expect a towel animal. We've gotten them on some trips and not on others.

Let us know how things go with Housekeeping.

Thank you Sandi:) My hair is kinda thick and below shoulders and frizzes up at the drop of a hat. Better bring my dryer from home!:sad2:

You are welcome. I think you'll be glad you brought it. Those hotel issue hair dryers seem to have been designed with bald men in mind!

For anyone currently at POP or headed to POP soon, if you think about it, could you see if they sell the 9" plain white vinylmation at the gift shop? I a hoping to get one before we head to the parks on arrival day.

24 more days! :goodvibes

When I stayed at the All-Star Sports resort last year, there was no WiFi. I'm now hearing that most all Disney Resorts offer WiFi in the guest rooms and on grounds. I'll be staying at Pop Century for the first time in November, and was wondering if the WiFi connection is strong in the guest rooms?

With a preferred room, you should be placed in one of three sections that have blocks of preferred rooms: 70's, 60's, or 50's.

If you want one of those sections specifically, you can add it as a request. Best case is that you get your reserved preferred room in the specific section you request.

A nice time to visit. :goodvibes In 2010 I took a long weekend from thursday to Monday before thanksgiving. Kind of what you are doing (except you are staying longer!). Crowds weren't bad but did notice they picked up on the weekend. It was not like FD in August though (if you've ever gone at that time), and the weather was much nicer! Enjoy!

In august I was able to connect with no issues (usually late at night or early AM for me). There has been various reports on this issue over the months but most have been fairly good. :)

Janet...Thanks for keeping the FAQ going. You're doing a great job keeping up with every thing

Still debating between POFQ (where we're booked now) or change to Pop. Family has stayed at Pop before back in '05 and loved it. It'll be DH & I and just can't decide between the two. BTW, we're not looking for a romantic trip, just a much needed get a way from reality!;)

Hmmm ... just the 2 of you?? POP has been refurbished in 2010, new decor, privacy curtain, new beds, entertainment unit/flat screen TV, mini-frig. FQ been newly refurbed, queen beds, nice theming, boat to DTD, entertainment at both POR resorts...Do you plan to be at the parks alot? Would you like the convenience of the boat to DTD and the nighttime entertainment being that it is a couples trip? :) If the $$ is not a concern, perhaps keep FQ and return to POP with the rest of the family. Either way it's will be a great trip! :thumbsup2

I am fairly certain I will be switching to POP if and when a FD discount is announced for January since my LM room probably won't be included.

Any advice on which room type I should get. Away from noise, not concerned about proximity to pool but would like to be close to bus or food.

Depends on your booking category ... there is std, pref and pool views (std & pref). Most preferred rooms are considered closer to Classic Hall so if you want to be guaranteed closer to busing/Classic Hall, book a pref. room ... those rooms are in the 50s, 60s or 70s areas. I think 70s would be nice for you .. no pool, and close to both busing/food. If you haven't already, refere to the 2012 Map.

That being said, we like lake view rooms (which are standard). Despite what you may think, most rooms are not more than an 4-8 min walk. The resort is really quite compact.

Hi Everyone Well it's 9 days until I arrive at Pop. As this is my first time to WDW should I do the advance check in or wait until I arrive at the resort? I've read my packet and most things look straightforward. Also I'm travelling solo so I don't know if that plays into things at all. Thanks for all your help.

Hi :wave2: So you have not made any room requests on your reservation? (category?? that will factor in the room assignment). Do you prefer any one theming over another?? If you have a theming preference, suggest you do the on-line check-in to give the schedulers some idea of what you are looking for. Also, we liked being in the 60s on our last trip as it is near the bridge and we explored AoA a few times. :goodvibes

Has anyone ever bought a backpack or other bag for the parks from the gift shop at Pop? I've been thinking about what to use and thought it would be fun to have a Disney bag, but I'm wondering what they run? I'm thinking around 40 dollars or so for a backpack. Am I far off? I don't suppose anyone has any pictures :)? Thanks :goodvibes! 40 days :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

We were there in mid September and I'm 99% sure Everything Pop had the large white vinylmations near the doors to the buses. One of our neighboring rooms used a white 9" vinylmation for characters to sign and kept it in their hotel window at night, it was absolutely adorable.

Oh THANK YOU! That is exactly what I plan to do with it. :goodvibes

I just bought a glow in the dark one from the Disney Store web site. I can't wait to get it signed!

Staying at POP for first time ever next week (11th-15th). Doing online check-in and wanted to know the quietest area? Lol. I know I have posted before, but I NEED quiet to get to sleep. Any suggestions?
