~~Please read~~ Announcing a BIG idea! - NEW UPDATE p.8!

We also are interested! We are a family of 3 with a ds(8). I have been debating on going either June or July and leaning toward June!!! Please keep us posted, I will probably look into making some ressies this week.

We're already planning to be there June 19-27, so we're in!

We are interested. After hours at AK would be so great. Keep us posted.

Lisa

We are planning a trip around that time and are definetly interested!

My gang and I are interested. Our trip is already reserved for June 13-23. Love the ideas so far, especially the Character meal with a possiblity of some villains (my fav). Will definitely keep watching this thread.

You may want to contact the people who organize Mousefest or the RADP meets each year - maybe they can give you some pointers...

Was just going to say the same thing-- Sounds like all of the Mousefest stuff coming up in December-- (Mousefest being the MegaMeet for RADP, Passporter, Allearsnet, Mousesavers and many more. I thought Dis was in there too?)

Check out

Would be nice to have a summer meet and a winter meet :) You might want to set up a Website/mailing list to organize folks and send out reminders.

We love any opportunity to meet other Disney fans.

Hey again guys!

Thanks for all your great responses so far...all I can say is 'keep them coming!' - I'm honestly reading every one :)

Minijeanie, yes, I am only looking at WDW events. People will be responsible for finding their own accommodation however I will be investigating further whether we are entitled to some sort of room discount. I think initially any discount offered would be small and certainly not anything to rival an AP discount (assuming they'll be offered...those things are starting to get a little more hard to get these days) however once I have a better idea of numbers it'll obviously give me more leverage and something may be worked out.

I also intend to discuss our options regarding tickets...and yes, meal vouchers :)

The biggest problem I've had till now is all the questions about what is possible have been theoretical ones because I had no idea how many people we were talking about and Disney are a bit reticent to give away too much in depth detail about things when the questions are so vague. Can't say I blame them, I'm sure they get tons of enquiries asking about such things from people who are simply curious which never come to fruition!

tggrbuny - I forgot to say it before...welcome to the DIS, everyone is welcome to join in the fun :) :) :)

WebmasterPenny

I have noticed in the past that it is possible for webmasters to send out 'universal' private messages to make announcements. Maybe you should try doing that so people who may not be reading the boards right now can be made aware of this Project.

I still can not believe that DH says we could do this if it involves getting some new things we can't normally do. We may head to Vero Beach for the first part of the week.

I hope you get enough people interested.

Thanks for all that you are doing!
DJ

If you're taking a count...family of 3 interested in all of the ideas you mentioned. Thanks!!!!

As promised, here is a synopsis of the few details I have about the Haunted Mansion Movie Set themed dinner. If there was sufficient interest expressed in this event then I can investigate further. Remember, as I mentioned previously, it's not cheap and should therefore be considered a "Premium" event and it has a maximum capacity of only 70 people. Prices look like they run at about $120 per person - until I know the exact terms of the event food & beverage minimums (each one appears to be different!) I won't be able to tell you if there are any price breaks for children available.

Haunted Mansion Spectral Soiree

Set within grand but somber movie set of the Haunted Mansion your dining experience begins when you are greeted by the self-appointed Mistress of the Manor, Madame Carlotta and her faithful servant Broom who will both mingle amongst your party sharing stories of their gruesome histories so that you feel at home!

Ready to attend to you at your atmospheric feast in the dining room are your silent, pale-faced servers in their formal black and white uniforms. Madame Carlotta and Broom will also continue to circulate but will disappear for a short while so as to allow time to eat your meal.

There are a few other details of the atmospheric 'frills' they add to the event but that would prove to be something of a spoiler so you'll just trust me when I say it's not as bland as I probably just made it sound, LOL. Remember, this is Disney after all :)

Unsure what time this would be held, it depends on park hours but the example they sent me began an hour before park closing - it's not 100% clear whether park admission is required in addition to the price but judging from something else they said I think not - as it mentions something about how the event guides will escort you on arrival at the park.

Having seen some pictures, it really does look very cool :)

This does sound cool! I hate to ask, but did they mention anything about being able to provide special diet meals (we are vegetarians). We tend to avoid 'group' meals for the most part, but often Disney is able to handle special diet needs. That is one reason we have fallen in love with Disney. It is one of the few places we can find good meals we can eat at almost every restaurant they operate (as well as the cruise--which we love also).

Thanks again for all of your work.

DJ

DJ - my mind had played tricks on me and there were no menu's attached with my information.

However, based on other events that I have researched so far, finding a vegetarian option shouldn't be a problem (or any other dietary needs for that matter) :)

I haven't read all the pages as of yet. But, we'd be interested. Family of 4. I particularly like the idea of the HM dinner at MGM and the adventurers club at Pleasure Island.

If you set up a Toy Story Character meal, we are there for certain! My boys would flip! We will be in Florida during that time frame so depending on the event we'd participate. There's 5 of us.

Oh I would love that too! (and so would my kids) I really like Toy Story!

I wish I could attend, this sounds like an amazing endeavor! I can't wait to hear what is possible when a group like this gets together.

As I look at my 2005 calendar, I thought I would mention that these dates fall over Father's Day. They might mean nothing to most but you may want to include something that celebrates or recognizes them on that day (or not).

Best of luck!

We weren't planning trip around this time but I am sure that we could find a way (anytime we can see Mickey we go)! I think all of the ideas sound great. If you want numbers it would be DH, DS and me. THANKS for trying to plan something like this!

Awesome idea...but we will miss you by a week...DS doesn't get out of school until 6/22, so we aren't heading down until 6/26!
