~~Please read~~ Announcing a BIG idea! - NEW UPDATE p.8!

We wold love to be able to participate, but we cant at that time.My Dsis is expecting and her due date is June 24.

Will be in New York City that weekend.

Just squandered another opportunity to get to one of those private parties at the Adventurers Club, I think.

we might be orlando during that time for a marital arts tournament. I'd really be interested in the "after hours" activites, espeically the HM dinner.

We would LOVE to do this!!! Myself,dh and dd (who will be 5 at that time). Everything you have thought of so far sounds like so much fun! I also have a large "Disney loving" family so I'm sure I can round up a few more people. We all have AP's!

My son is graduating from High School around June 24th and he already said he wanted a trip to disneyland for the Big Celebration. So we would definately be interested. We are a family of 4.

I will stay posted for updates.

Happy Planning!!

Florida Seasonal Passes are blocked out from June 11th on, so I guess I won't be there!

What a great idea! Can you imagine a park full of only DISers?
Please keep us posted on this.

Thanks

I bet this will keepalot of Florida disers from attending.

Sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately, we already have a trip planned from June 5 - 11 so this won't work for us. Hope everyone has a great time and posts about it. Annmarie

Actually out of the 5 events I mentioned so far, only 1 would be potentially be directly affected by the FL Res pass blackout which is the Character Breakfast and depending on demand that might have to be help at a resort anyhow.

The Adventurers Club does not require admission in to Pleasure Island.

The Illuminations Dessert Party has the option of adding on an Illuminations Fee for an extra approx. $15 (you are 'collected' and escorted to the private viewing area.)

The after hours park party obviously doesn't need admission.

And reading the documentation I have on the backstage tours, park admission doesn't seem to be required for those either.

Though I do admit that if you wanted to enter the parks during the day you're at a bit of a dead-end.

I am however discussing with Disney the option of Convention Hopper passes which are designed specifically for events like this. You use them and they typically expire a short time after activation but they are also a bit cheaper than the normal passes which may be an option (Though an added expense).

Unfortunately the reason it's in the blackout period is because a lot of the kids are out...which was the no.1 reason why I had to choose those dates in the first place.

Keep the comments, suggestions and questions coming guys - I promise I'm reading every thing :)

I will also go off and dig out the information I have on the Haunted Mansion dinner. Two things that stick in my mind about it as a reason I didn't actively pursue that idea in the first instance was a) It was expensive and b) It had quite a low people capacity - maybe a max of 70 people? (Hence the reason it was expensive) - I seem to recall it was a rather fancy menu though!

Bad luck to everyone who's interested but are unable to make it. Obviously I'd love to say they'll be a Project X for 2006 but as technically speaking we haven't gotten one arrranged for 2005 yet I may be a bit premature ;) (In principle though, if all things went well, then theoretically there's no reason why it couldn't be repeated).

I'm SOOOOO sad! We will be going to WDW on 28th June for 18 nights which means I miss out on this! Good luck with the planning. I admire you so much for taking on such a big task!

Jackie

I am interested, me dh and at least a couple of our kiddos (some may still have activities going on).

Sounds like a wonderful project.

We already have two trips to WDW planned fo 2005 one in Jan and one in Nov but I have been tring to convince my husband that a third short trip over the summer was needed as I could not go that long without a trip to WDW. If this becomes a go you can count the two of us in.

I am new, hope I can join the in the fun too? That is our 19th anniversary, can't imagine a better way to celebrate. There would be just the two of us.

I do have a question. Will any of the 50th anniversary stuff be in place by that time? I know most things are for DL, but there were going to things for WDW too, would love to experience those events as well.

As it happens our use year on our newly purchased SSR is June!!
:wave2:

Oh this sounds so wonderful! My DH has asked for a year off from WDW. He asked that we don't go in 2005! Oh NO! I wonder if I can change his mind.

Well it does sound great! I would love to go if DH would agree.

Count me in! This sounds wonderful and so exciting to finally get to know some of the other DIS members!

Sounds like fun, but since my 2005 trips are all planned, not an option for me.

Also wondering - you say you planned it for when the kids are out of school, but most of the events you mention are more for adults. Dessert party, backstage tours, adventurer's club, haunted mansion dinner. Nothing I would take kids to and if you have them with you - you really can't just leave them and go yourself.

Good luck anyway.

kathleena,
From what I understand, she is planning all these events, to be family friendly. The AC would be a private event. This is what makes this event most appealing to me. The fact that we can do things as a family that we normally wouldn't be able to. My DS(12) will love the Illum. dessert event, and the HM dinner. The only thing that won't work for us is the tours, but that's okay because there's plenty of other greats things to participate in.

WebmasterPenny,
I wanted to add that I like the idea of having events that don't require park admission. As Florida residents, we get lots of park time, and we'll welcome an opportunity to relax by the pool some, which we don't normally do. Thanks again. :)

I just mentioned it to DH and he said he would consider it!!! I can't believe it.

We are a family of 4, and would love to come.

We have never been to the AC before, so that would be fun. As for a character breakfast, what about the one at Cape May at BC? We haven't been there before, but it is a very nice easy walk over to Epcot from there for those who want to go to the park, and then those who don't want to go to the park, they can still join in on the Character breakfast.

If the Haunted Mansion dinner doesn't work, I wonder if people would be interested in the Hoop Dee Doo Review? We thought it was a lot of fun and enjoyed the food.

The backstage tours would be fun, my kids are under age 16, so we couldn't do those.

As for an after hours party, what about Animal Kingdom? It closes earlier, so parents and kids wouldn't have to stay out late for an 'after hours' party there. It sure would be nice if they would give a slower safari tour so we could enjoy the animals longer.

Keep us posted on your progress!
