~~October 2016~~Sew, it was the greatest Stitch Experience ever!~~Final Update 3/19/2017!

Happy New Year, D! I hope the day with your Dad went well and all of you had a good time together.

I wanted to mention, I saw another poster mention the Starbucks mugs- they do have a TN mug. I have one! I got mine at the airport in Nashville, and I saw them at least one SB in Knoxville, so I know they exist!

Nice to see A doing her Dad's hair. How long is her course? I bet she will enjoy doing the hands on portion!

Thanks for the encouragement on the W30. I went to the commissary yesterday & did my best to stock up for the week (or as long as I can make it last). It was pricey, but I feel better prepared. I made clarified butter and boiled some eggs today. I've also boiled some chicken and shredded it up to make with the fajita seasoning. I have made it a few times and really love it. That is going to be my base for lunch this week. I'm going to give it my best shot! I know that just changing the way I eat and cutting out the sugar and dairy will be good for my body. I am going to weigh in and....maybe... do pictures tonight and then start tomorrow.

We did get to see Moana yesterday. V is right, the water animation is spectacular. It's like they personify the water into another character. I enjoyed the music as well.

Looking forward more TR updates and life updates. I hope this year brings you much much happiness!

I was ordering magic bands on the Disney Store last night and saw they have some good sales right now. Don't know if there are any more bracelets you need, but they had quite a few and also Vera Bradley bags. I got the 45th anniversary magic band for myself and a Chewy and Han Solo one for my son. I didn't "need" one as I have a Christmas one from last year and also my annual pass one. The special ones are neat though.

I hope you had a good time with your dad. We still have to get over to my dad's with his gift too. He's at the point where I think he's afraid to go out when it's icy and fears he will fall. I had to refill his phone minutes for him as he has a pay as you go. We can get him a thousand minutes that last a year and he doesn't even use them all. But it's so nice to know he can call if something happens when he's out. Once his car wouldn't start and he was stranded. My grandkids love their new iphones. They got the 6s as it was a good deal. They had a Nokia smart phone I had given them to share when they went out, so they told me I could have it back. Now I can have the Disney app on it, just in time. Hard to believe but I still have an old flip phone. Mainly use it for calling though so it was fine. I was thinking about the color for Victoria's and thought if you put a case on it, how much color do you really see anyway.

Are you going to let Allison do your hair after she's had some practice? I think that would be so neat to have my daughter do my hair. My sister's daughter went to beauty school too but ended up deciding it wasn't for her. She does my sister's hair though and it always looks great.

Happy New Year!

Day 6 - Part 2

V and I both took a nap at Shades of Green - it was our goal to get as much rest as we could, so we could spend the entire night at MNSSHP...

We were up at 2:00 to get ready, I wanted to be out the door at at MK's gates a bit early - as I heard they were letting MNSSHP ticket holders in at 3:45, since we had a FP for 7DMT that expired at 4:15 - we had to be prompt about our arrival.

We loaded on to the Shady Shuttle at exactly 3pm... We took the Monorail to MK... Crowds were quite thick at the gates for the MNSSHP lines - and we had to stand right in the sun - it was a bit uncomfortable and hot.

20161020_154404.jpg

When they let us in the gates, we were given our wrist bands for the night, then we were given the option to walk up Main Street.

20161020_154701.jpg

Or we were "enticed" by our first candy lines to take the route behind Main Street (on the right as you are walking in) - of course, I am always up for a behind the scenes tour - so I took them up on the opportunity to go behind. It really wasn't all that exciting - as they had tarps up to block anything unsightly.

20161020_155040.jpg

As I said above - we were on a mission to arrive at 7DMT immediately - so there was no stopping... Except to get a few pictures of V sporting her adorable Tee from Valerie and her matching Ears...

20161020_155402.jpg

The FP line was relatively short and we chose our favorite spot in the back.

20161020_160040.jpg

20161020_160046.jpg

We were HOT from standing in the sun while in line at the gate, so we detoured into Cosmic Ray's for a large glass of water... We sat at the bar there, over looking Tomorrowland, trying to decide our plan for the night - because, after this - I really didn't have a plan, except to see the parade. It was actually quite nice to sit there, re-hydrate and overlook the park.

20161020_161448_HDR.jpg

We decided to head towards Space Mountain... V was subjected to ride alone with our FPs, because this is a ride I will never do again...

20161020_162814.jpg

On our way there, we stopped for a Photopass picture - this was our first since entering the park for MNSSHP...

V rode SM while I waited in the dump shop...

5159AF83-5D8B-4A2E-A6B0-6D8C78DC3777.jpg

I sat right next to the photo booths, so I would remember to get our photo booth pictures taken while we were there... As luck would have it, she didn't see me as she came off of the ride - and the reason I knew she was done was that her ride photo showed up in my Photopass... So, off I went in search of V - completely forgetting about the photo booth pictures I wanted to have taken. Bummer!

Once I found her - she told me how freaked out she was on SM and didn't want to ride again with my MB... She said that they were doing work in one of the areas, and the lights through the window were on - making SM slightly view-able... She said she freaked out at how close the structure was to the ride vehicle... I noticed, when I rode TTA at one point - there was a shop that was under construction and that area had the lights on in the ride... I wondered if maybe that was the dim light she was seeing?

We decided to head towards Main Street and get some Photopass pictures done with the Castle. Stopping along the way for photographers as we went along... It was such a beautiful day!

We worked our way along Main Street... Doing some fun photos and doing some of the standard poses...

This Photopass photographer cracked me up... My biggest pet peeve with Photopass pictures, is when they cut off my feet in the photo - drives me nuts... So, I told the photographer to "make sure he got my feet in the photo"... LOL And this was the resulting pose!

A230D264-3115-4724-B5A4-5CBC749A0262.jpg

We also did a little bit of shopping... My baby girl - who instigated the rule of "no more coffee mugs will be allowed in our house" :lmao: started her "own" collection for her own house one day... Bahahahaha!!! This soooo cracked me up! She has some great ones started already - but perhaps, this is one of my all time favorites, I would have loved it for my own collection - it features every single Castle on it... Really a cool mug!

20161020_171828.jpg

We decided to head over towards Sleepy Hollow to have dinner there.

20161020_172812.jpg

20161020_172820.jpg

V was intrigued by the Nutella waffle sandwich... I liked the chicken waffle sandwich I'd had there last November with Suzi - sadly, I knew it had been discontinued... Imagine my surprise when I saw it back on the menu board! Woohoo! I ordered my slaw on the side though - as last time it made my sandwich really soggy and I don't like that. I also ordered a giant water... Mmmmm!

20161020_173816.jpg

V loved her "sandwich" (ahem ~ dessert) and said it was the best thing in Disney... I highly doubt that - but I do think she wouldn't have to be forced to eat it again. LOL

20161020_174030.jpg

The view from our table - kinda nice! Plus, it was fun to watch all of the different costumed people pass us on this well used path.

The other direction... So nice and quiet - until the Hall of Presidents show let out. LOL

20161020_175304.jpg

After this - we decided to use our FP for Haunted Mansion... It was while we were riding this ride, I found out that V really doesn't like this ride... It must be residual trauma from when she was 4 - we made her ride this ride, not knowing anything about it, she screamed bloody murder through the entire thing... Yes - we were those parents...

We decided to head over to where the 7 Dwarves were meeting to see how long the line was... I would have loved to see them, if it wasn't bad... However - at 1.5 hours long - I passed.

We stopped in the Circus Tent and grabbed a few gifts... Shellie May, complete with book and Minnie outfit for Lara, plus - for myself, this year's Hocus Pocus tee shirt... All of which we shipped back to SoG (love this service!). We went back the way we came... V decided she wanted to meet Ariel - she hasn't done a meet n' greet with Ariel since our very first trip in 2003!

V even talked Ariel into doing a selfie... It was so cute!

9663FDB3-3247-497B-8625-EA59617A44EC.jpg

When we were done meeting Ariel - V wanted to ride the ride - as usual, it was walk on...

20161020_191224.jpg

20161020_190103.jpg

After the ride, we noticed that the masses were already THICK on the curb waiting for the first MNSSHP parade... V and I decided we better stake out a spot - our feet were needing a break anyways... Remember - I am still breaking in these awesome dotted Vans!

Day 6 ~ Part 3

It took V and I a while to find a good viewing spot for the parade... We still had about an hour before it started and crowds were THICK... it was quite insane and very disappointing.

We finally found a great spot in Frontierland - where I thought it was supposed to be "less crowded parade viewing"? If it's less crowded here - I would hate to see Main Street!

I loved our location - first off, we could sit and secondly, we were at the top of a slight hill/curve, so we really had a great vantage point of seeing the parade from the front and also from the side as it passed.

Waiting it out...

It wasn't long after we sat down and people started to fill in THICK behind us... It became a struggle to keep our spots, because they kept pushing us forward - and we were SITTING down. V is pretty sensitive about personal space - and this became an issue later during the parade...

Despite the thickness of the crowds at the parade viewing - this is still our all time favorite parade and we were going to enjoy it...

20161020_195711.jpg

Ahhh!!! We were soooo excited! We have not seen this parade since 2008, and just the music alone is enough to make you love it!

Boo to you!!! (Forgive the awful photo quality - I am a terrible night time photographer!)

And my second favorite part - the dancing ghosts!

This was just a fantastic, fantastic parade! It's one I hope that they continue to do forever!

So, I mentioned above - the issue with V's personal space... Usually, she is good - but with strangers, and sometimes with us, personal space is a huge thing - we know this and try to respect it as much as possible - which is sometimes why I think the girls don't often get along - Allison is a very touchy person, and V does not enjoy people touching her. Anyways - there were people really IN our space behind us... As I said earlier - we were sitting... They were standing so their legs were pressing into our backs, trying to push us forward. There was a larger woman standing directly behind V - she was wearing a knee length dress... At one point - this lady's large stomach was over the top of V's head, and her dress had slipped over the top of V's head - so V was UNDER her dress!!!! Good Lord - you all should have seen V freak out - and rightly so, IMO... It's one thing to stand close to someone - it is totally ANOTHER to be so close that you become engulfed in someone clothing... And the lady had the NERVE to get angry at V for yelling at her to "back the eff up" for violating her personal space. Seriously! My poor child was probably scarred for life... Soooo PSA for anyone out there... Stay in your own personal space! For the record - the only reason I mentioned this person's size, I don't think it would have been an issue if this person would have had a flatter stomach - as the stomach wouldn't have hung over V's head and in-turn made the front of her dress drape over V's head - make sense? Believe me when I say - size doesn't matter and I LOVE everyone of every size... But Whoa!!! This is not an experience I don't think anyone cares to have. OK - I am done.

As soon as we saw the last of the parade approaching - we were more than happy to stand up and get ready to be shoved forward, AKA not trampled to death.

We bee lined towards HM - as one of my other "must-dos" was to have a photopass photo taken in front of the haunted carriage, after the parade - the crowds to get out of this area were true insanity... With the issue above and V's personal space... And now this - V and I were pretty much done with crowds!

After lots of pushing, shoving, and trying to maneuver our way (and stay upright), we finally made it to the excessively long line for pictures... Thankfully the line moved quite quickly - they had a system, and it worked well.

D77824F9-1B5D-4D0B-8A94-8B488C030891.jpg

Once we were done there, we decided to head towards Splash... the crowds had mostly dissipated, though we chose to take the back path... I am kind of glad we did - as we encountered a Photopass photographer along the way - and we ended up with some cute pictures from her...

The wait for Splash wasn't long...

52859D9B-2A6B-4847-8A48-D94807042DEE.jpg

I noted that they had the jets on high for this ride and both V and I got wet.

We were tired, we were sick of people and our feet were sore... We decided to make our way to the front of the park.

On our way - we were able to catch a little bit of the Hocus Pocus show... This is one thing I really wanted to try to see, especially since I had purchased the tee shirt after all... I knew I was pressing my luck as it was - and we were both ready to be done.

We escaped the Main Street crowds by ducking into the shops on our way out...

V found me a trophy - LOL

20161020_215134.jpg

And I found another mug - that in hind sight - I wish I would have gotten... Oh well - maybe next time? LOL

20161020_215327.jpg

We made our way under the train station - and the crowds here were non-existent. It amazes me how you can go from one area to the next and the change in crowd levels...

20161020_215447.jpg

20161020_215606.jpg

I was quite nervous that the Photopass photographer out here with the Headless Horseman would have a really long line, like the one in front of HM... Though there was absolutely NO line here, so much so, that this photographer was willing to spend a lot of time with us - helping us get our pose and our scared faces pointed in the right direction.

We exited the park at exactly 10pm... (I am a bit disappointed in this... Ahhh - but it is what it is, and we didn't want to push ourselves...)

20161020_220020.jpg

We boarded the Monorail to the TTC...

And the bus to SoG...

We were in bed and out cold by 11pm.

Sounds like you had a great start of the day. The end of your day didn't sound nice at all. People must respect other peoples personal space. I would be mad and would say some very nasty things to that person standing behind me if I experienced what V did under the parade.

For some reason, half of the pics are not showing up for me!? It's probably my internet or my old computer. I will check back later and see if they come up for me.

Well the third time is the charm? I cannot get a reply posted for the life of me. The Dis boards have been awful lately.

I'm here! And wishing you a very blessed 2017, with good health, good friends, lots of family, and lots of adventures.

I hope you are having a good visit with your Dad and safe travels. I know it must be hard with him just far enough away that you can't see him often. My parents were 3 hours away and it was really difficult.

I love your Christmas Eve and morning; thanks so much for sharing. I have to say your gift of the photo collage really gave me a lump in my throat. Pictures always get to me.

Your girls are starting to look so much more alike; they are so beautiful, inside and out.

I will be back to read your TR update; the boards aren't loading all your photos for me right now.

Happy New Year D!! Always love and hugs.

Enjoyed the update. Can't imagine the creepiness that V encountered when she ended up under the skirt--ick!

Lots of photos not showing up for me either. Maybe the board is having issues?

Sorry guys about the photos... I think it's because I gave up on trying to turn each one right side up, one by one on Photobucket, it was taking me hours... I decided to link them directly from Google instead... They load on my desk top, and on my android tablet, but not on my iPhone. :(. I don't know what else I can do to finish up this TR? I'll spend some time tomorrow to see if maybe a different link will work better... ::yes::

Still sounds like such a Nice day and from what pics I can see, awesome shots from your photo pass photographer! Agree on that lady by V - ummmm NO!!

Love the logo and history with Minnie and Paul - glad to see it at the stadium as well! Love my twins and Vikings!

I hear you and agree on that mall. Hard to go there from the 2 lockdowns and that Target is really small and so congested by the entrance.

Hope you are able to fix your pictures but still enjoy reading about your trips. We all love your writing style.

We just bought our AP's to take advantage of the 13 month window. We are DVC members so it just makes sense...sometimes!!

That is such a great history. I imagine he was not pleased when he was making a simple cartoon for a beverage cup and they decided to use it as the Team Logo! I'm sure he would have done all kinds of things differently. But, sometimes simple is best, and it's a great logo!

Enjoy visiting your Dad.

I am not sure? I know that it's not something that was really well "known" within the family until his death. I remember Josh mentioning something to me once, many, many years ago - although once the paper did the article when he died, it became a better known thing. Josh's Grandmother still has some of the initial cups with his logo on them from that first year - those are kind of cool to see... It's changed some over the years, but for the most part, it's stayed true to the original art.

We had a great time with Dad!

Happy New Year have a safe trip up to visit your dad.d
I'm feeling much better, thanks. It's been quiet around here the snow storm they were predicting never showed up, thank goodness.
I'm working a a small project for a friend. Her dog tried to eat a afghan that. belongs to her son's GF. I've been patching it and sewing it back together. The poor girl was heartbroken. I'm almost done.
Have a good weekend
Liz

Thanks! Same to you - we had a great trip and enjoyed our time with Dad and my brother. :)

I am glad to hear that you are feeling better, it's such a bummer to be sick over the holidays.

Awww... I sure hope you are able to fix it - that is such a bummer.

Thank you - same to you!

I agree with you on V's new iphone. She should have waited to get the phone she really wanted since it costs that much money. Oh, well, it's her choice not to wait so I hope she is happy with the phone she got.

How great that you got everything on your needed at the grocery store and stayed in budget. A specially now when you need to save money to repair Josh's car.

How exciting that Allison has started taking her first clients at school. I can totally understand Josh not being ready for Allison to cut his hair.

I hope the drive to your dad goes OK. I hope you have a great celebration with him with both celebrating Christmas and New Years.

Happy New Year to you and your family

Ulf has made ice cream many times during the year. The ice cream has been delicious every time.

Sadly the macaroons didn't turn out as they should. For some reason I don't understand the mixture/dough turned out MUCH thicker than it should. So we weren't able to make the macaroonns as thin as they should be. We ended up with some sort of almond dough that we decided to cook as if we were making macaroons. The almonds cakes tasted good even if we won't male it to macaroons. Oh well, better luck next time. I think we will try a different recipe next time we make ice cream and get left over egg whites

She seems to be happy with what she got... She made sure to order a case that is rose gold - as she said, all a person really sees is the case anyways.

Yah - it's a bummer about Josh's truck... We plan to take it in to be diagnosed over the next week or two, then we should be able to get an estimate for fixing... Depending on the verdict - we may fix it, or we may fix it then trade it in, as he has very high miles on it... It's the perfect truck for us - and a bit hard to find in a newer model because of everything we need in a truck - so the other part, if we trade it in, is finding a newer truck with the same options. We'll see.. I think, we will probably just fix it and then start watching for something newer. :scratchin

Yes - it is very exciting for her! I went in last week and she did a pedicure on me- it was soooo nice. I plan to go in weekly or bi-weekly while she is in school, the price can't be beat - even when we are on a super strict budget.

We had a very enjoyable trip to see dad and my brother - it was a great time and good to spend some time with both of them!

Bummer about the macaroons... Sometimes though - even if they don't look right, they still taste just as good. ::yes::

Happy New Year Lillian! :lovestruc

I was waiting to see if one your regulars replied to your frustration with the keyboard. I didn't see anyone give the suggestion of a 3rd party keyboard. There are two that I use - Gboard (by Google) and SwiftKey. I mostly use the Google one. This allows you to just slide your fingers along the keyboard much like androids. Also your FitBit can vibrate upon calls, texts and calendar notifications. Go into your account, go to notifications and choose what you want sent to your fitbit. Good luck!

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I did go searching for keyboard apps after I saw your post, and I am going to try out the Google one... I've never really done the sliding portion of the keyboard, so I am not sure if this one will do what I am hoping it will do? I am willing to give it a try though. It was funny - when I was doing the search - everything that was coming up was for people who had switched from Apple to Android and how much they missed the Apple keyboard - LOL... And here I am, the exact opposite. :lmao: Figures...

I was also able to get my Fitbit notifications working - well, sort of... At the moment the notifications are only coming through for calls and not for texts... I especially like the text portion, because when I am working at Target - if I am close enough to my phone while it's in my locker (my Iphone doesn't fit into my pants pocket anymore - and my old phone didn't fit in my jeans pockets while we were able to wear them during the holidays - which is how I know this) - I get my texts on my wrist... So I know if I have to sneak to my locker to reply. LOL

Thank you so much for chiming in and giving me some other ideas - I truly appreciate that. Happy New Year to you! :lovestruc

Thanks Dorine, I'm SO EXCITED!

We're going the week of Valentine's Day and staying at Pop.

Living in GA, we've been to WDW many times but not since the new Fastpass system began. We've been trying to figure out what to get FPs for, and so far we hate this new system! Hopefully it will be better in action.

Grace snagged a breakfast BOG reservation for a "ticketed event" - does that mean it will cost extra to get in? It begins at 7:45 and our breakfast is for 8:40. Can we be inside the park at 7:45 or can we not get in until our meal time? We may need to cancel that because I don't want her to pay extra for anything, if it costs extra.

Background info: my daughter is 25 and finished her BSN, RN 2 years ago and is a trauma ICU nurse at a level one trauma center in GA. She had a VERY difficult adolescence, and I'm so very proud of her.

I know I'll have more questions but right now my 15 month old grandson (my oldest son's son) is visiting and he's a handful! Grace and I want to take him with us, but my son says no, he wants to be the first one to take him down Main Street. Since he can't talk, Grace and I think if we could just "borrow" him for a few days, the 'rents won't be any the wiser - except I bet he would come back saying "bloon!" LOL

Oh my gosh - that is just sooooo exciting!!! How awesome! I dream of the day that the girls surprise me with a trip!

The FP system is a little tricky - I've found... I've also found that I have to go in multiple times, because it's constantly updating... So, on the first day - I grab as close as I can to what we want, and then I keep checking back and modifying. The thing I like the most about it - which I discovered on this last trip... Remember when V and I went into AK in the morning and only used 1 of our 3 FPs? While we were at the resort for a break - I was able to log into MDE and switch those remaining 2 FPs for later on in the evening for a different park... So, I love that ability to do things on the move as plans change. And of course, it saves a LOT of walking. ::yes:: There are parts that I don't like about it - but for the most part - it's a decent system.

I am not sure about the BoG breakfast... If it's during a hard ticketed event - it is my suspicion that you will have to pay for the hard ticket to get into the park for your ADR - If I were your dd, I'd keep looking for a later time... Who wants to pay for a hard ticket event just to waste the time eating? I'd definitely call Disney to confirm - though I am pretty sure this is how it works? :scratchin

Congratulations to your dd for her success! It's not easy to take a difficult childhood and choose the right paths to take you on the right path... You have every right to be proud of her! :lovestruc

Awwwh - that would be so fun to be able to take your grandson... Though I understand your son wanting to be there the first time. ::yes:: Hopefully you all can figure something out.

I am super excited for you and your trip - you will have an amazing time regardless!

Thanks Brandi - we had a great time with Dad and a good trip. Happy New Year to you as well!

Oooh - that is good to know about the Starbucks mugs! Thanks!

Hehehehe... Yes - it was fun to watch, and Allison's instructor did an amazing job on his hair - I wouldn't mind if he continued to go to her for his cuts, until Allison can do it herself. Her course can be done in 10 months, provided she gets all of her required hours in. I am quite proud of her - I know that many (myself included) don't think of cosmetology school as a difficult thing - however, I've been quite surprised at the different things she has to learn - like the anatomy of the head, laws concerning hygiene/health/salon ownership... Just a whole gammit of things that I didn't realize. That being said - she is carrying a 4.0 - on all of her tests so far combined, she has answered only one question wrong... So, I am pretty proud of her... Even if she doesn't choose this career path - it's still something good to fall back on one day if she needs it.

It sounds like you are quite well prepared for the W30 - that is half the battle. I need to get some eggs boiled myself - I find when I don't have those handy, I snack on other stuff that isn't nearly as good for me. I would love your chicken fajita recipe! I am working hard this week too, to turn my eating habits back around - I did pretty well, up until about 2 weeks ago - then I totally tanked again. It's such a vicious cycle. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. ::yes:: You will do great Brandi - I just know it!

Exactly - Moana was a great movie... My only disappointment with it, was that I had a hard time not comparing it to Lilo and Stitch - since they are somewhat similar.... And L&S is in a league of it's own. LOL Still a fantastic movie though!

Again - Happy New Year to you and yours! :lovestruc

Eeek!!! Thanks for letting me know!!! I may have to go sneak a peek! LOL

Yes - my dad is getting the same way too - a bit afraid to go out in the winter, because he is afraid of falling - rightly so... I think it's a genuine fear of many. ::yes:: I just have my Dad's cell service on my plan - it costs me next to nothing and it's good piece of mind. Although - he refuses to carry it with him... Sigh.

Yay for getting your phone back and being able to get the Disney app on it... That is so handy!

I am glad your grands like their new phones - that is awesome! I totally agree about the phone case - that's the conclusion that V came to, as well - she ordered a phone case in Rose Gold, so now she really won't ever notice the color of the phone. :)

I might let Allison do my hair after she has had some practice - we will see? I truly enjoy my stylist and she does a fantastic job on my hair - so I hate to switch... But we'll see? I know Allison will be doing my other things though - at least for the time being - it will just depend on where she goes from here... Whether she goes to a full-service salon, or just a quick hair cutting place? Or if she doesn't it at all - she still talks about heading off to "real college" once she is finished with these courses... I know she was just doing this to "buy herself some time" to decide which direction she really wanted to go in.

Happy New Year to you and your family as well!!! :lovestruc

Sounds like you had a great start of the day. The end of your day didn't sound nice at all. People must respect other peoples personal space. I would be mad and would say some very nasty things to that person standing behind me if I experienced what V did under the parade.

It was a fun and decent day... It was great to be able to experience MNSSHP again... IF I were to do it again though - I'd try to plan my trip earlier in the season when hopefully the parties aren't as crowded as they are when Halloween gets closer.

I agree - I don't normally commend my girls for such behavior - but this particular experience was totally above and beyond what is acceptable. I also encourage my girls to stand up for themselves - and in this instance, I feel like V was totally justified in her behavior - minus the swear word of course. ::yes::

For some reason, half of the pics are not showing up for me!? It's probably my internet or my old computer. I will check back later and see if they come up for me.

No - it isn't your internet, or the Dis... I decided not to try to rotate all of my pictures in Photobucket - it was taking me hours, so I just used the links from Google... I don't think they worked - even though I can see them on my computer and on my tablet (but not on my phone)... I'll go in to Photobucket this morning and swap out some of the pictures I've managed to rotate - so at least some of them show up for you all. Sorry about that! :)

Thanks Carol - as always - same to you!

We had a great visit to see dad - the roads were good and traffic was easy - so that always makes the trip easier. Since we were able to stop off and get food at our favorite Chinese restaurant in our old home town - it made the drive even better. LOL We got take out and had Chinese for our "Christmas meal"... We even had enough to leave some behind for dad and to take a little home with us. :)

I know - that photo collage really left me in tears... It was so bad, at one point, I had to have Allison go grab me some tissues as the tears were burning my eyes. I didn't expect to be that emotional over a gift... but it's a wonderful one and one I cherish!

Hahaha - I agree - I also think they are starting to look more alike. ::yes::

No - it isn't your internet, or the Dis... I decided not to try to rotate all of my pictures in Photobucket - it was taking me hours, so I just used the links from Google... Happy New Year Carol - love and hugs back! :lovestruc

Enjoyed the update. Can't imagine the creepiness that V encountered when she ended up under the skirt--ick!

Lots of photos not showing up for me either. Maybe the board is having issues?

Yes - she was not impressed at all - can't say as I blame her. I am glad that she stood up for herself though.

Thanks - I am going to try to swap out some of the pictures this morning - although, now Photobucket has decided to crash and error on me.. Sigh - I think it will be a miracle if I am able to finish this TR. ::yes::

Thanks!!! We love our Twins for sure - the Vikes... Well - I hate football... We are Wild fans though. :thumbsup2

Just that whole mall area is a nightmare! It's terrible and I detest going there - with or without Dad. I used to be an asst. manager at the Gymboree there - for many years - and many years ago... Although many of my old co-workers still work there, so I love to stop in and see them all... However - yah, it's just a bad area, and I am super happy now that we moved and no longer have to spend much time there.

I am going to try to fix the pictures this morning - if Photobucket comes back up.

Sooo exciting for you with the APs... I sure miss having one. One day - it's my goal to have one every year, and to use it. ::yes:: We'll see... LOL Congrats to you though! And Happy New Year! :lovestruc

OK - first things first... The darn pictures... :) And then, I go to photobucket and it's errored out on me... sigh! It will be a miracle if I can finish this TR.

Josh and I were able to go see Dad - both girls had to work, so neither of them could do the trip with us, which was at total bummer and very disappointing to dad, but there's not much that can be done. We still had a great time and enjoyed visiting with both my dad and brother. :) To those of you who sent their love - I passed it on to him. :)

It still moves me greatly to see my dad and brother together... No matter how much my Dad ages - he still takes care of Jonathan... They are "two peas in a pod" and sometimes, I see their relationship each as an extension of the other... They both give in their own way to the relationship and they are like two puzzle pieces the way they fit. Every time I think of how much easier it would be for me - and maybe even for dad - to have Dad closer to me - to be able to take him out shopping on a whim or have him over for dinner several nights per week... I think of the relationship between Dad and Jonathan, and how much they live for each other, I just cannot take that from them... It's all either of them have ever known and I fear it would greatly impact their will to live if I were to separate them. It's a difficult spot to be in, and as I was talking to Jonathan's foster mom the other day - it's a spot I never even imagined I would be in... I just assumed that my dad would never age. Stupid of me to think - I know... It just never occurred to me.

Aside from our trip to Dad's, we have stuck close to home... I worked on taking down the Christmas decor in every area of the house - except for the living room... So the kitchen is done, and the porch is done - aka - boring. LOL I've started to disassemble the living room - though I am leaving the tree as a "family " project. LOL Mostly due to laziness - I have no desire to take it all down by myself... If it was possible - I'd throw a large trash bag over the top of it and store it decorated. :lmao: Hmmm... I'll talk to Josh... :scratchin

Today is our last day of holiday break - we all go back to work and school tomorrow.

This picture of the boys reminds me of one when Cooper was still a baby...

Josh and I have an errand to run in Rochester - so we are headed on a little road trip south for once, instead of north. ::yes:: I also need to hit Trader Joe's while I am down there - I am nearly out of coconut oil spray... I usually buy 5 or 6 cans when I go, since we live so far from the nearest one - I have yet to find anything that compares anywhere nearer. ::yes::

And that's about it. I hope all of you are having a wonderful start to 2017! :lovestruc Prayers and Pixie Dust to all!

D~ (who is still trying to work with Photobucket..)

Even though all the pics aren't showing up, I very much enjoyed reading about your time at the party! You got some great PP pictures! Love the ones of the haunted carriage and especially with the headless horseman - very cool! OMG the woman invading your DD's space - ugh. So gross. I don't blame her for telling her to back off. It seems like I encounter rude people at every parade I've watched. On my March trip, my sister and I used a parade FP. It worked really well but I think they've discontinued that. I'd love to see the rest of your pictures but don't stress out over it. It's still fun to read the narrative.

See blow about the pictures. :) I am glad you are enjoying our TR just the same - it's not as fun without pictures though. ::yes::

Thanks! I really loved the magic shots in MK during the party - they were all on my bucket list, as they are so unique!

Yes - that woman was a winner... I was kind of shocked when I turned around to get a look at her as we were leaving (we couldn't see her face around her stomach from our sitting vantage point) - as she was a very young woman... Early 20's, I'd guess. I was just shocked at the way she was acting - I expected her to be a bit older. I dunno? I shouldn't make assumptions. ::yes::

If ever the parade and Wishes FPs come back - I've never used a FP for either of those things - but I do think I'd seriously consider it from here forward - especially with our aversion to crowds. ::yes::

Happy New Year to you and yours! :lovestruc

****************************************************************************************************************************************

Well everyone - I've gone back and swapped the photos I had uploaded on Photobucket, to the best of my ability... Not all of the photos I had on Google were the same as the ones I had uploaded on to PB - so I left those and swapped out the ones I could. ::yes:: I swear I flipped all of them right side up - so I hope they show up that way for all of you, as they aren't showing up that way for me. Sigh - my sincerest apologies... I strive to have my TRs easy to read - and this isn't up to my standards at all.

Now I know - I guess - that the Google links are not going to work for me, and I will have to suffer through uploading to PB and rotating each photo individually. I guess I better start uploading for my next update now. LOL :scratchin

D~

I'm sorry about all the problems with your pictures. I'd thought that there was a problem with my computer which wouldn't have surprised me.
My daughter set my fitbit up so I'd get notifications for phone calls and texts. I do carry my phone around at work. It doesn't fit in my pants but does fit in my vest pocket. We use our phones to check prices to price match. Our store has free wifi or we wouldn't do it.
Your dad and brother look happy to see you. It's too bad the girls couldn't come. It's good to hear that Allison is doing well in school.
Sorry about Josh's truck. Hopefully he can fix it soon.
Taking down Christmas decorations is one of my least favorite jobs. I haven't started, yet. I might do it on my day off Wednesday after I get home from the dentist.
Have a good day
Liz

I'm so sorry to hear that getting the pictures from your trip into this trip report is so much extra work for you. I enjoy reading about your trip even if not all the pictures are showing.

Looks like you had a great time with your dad and brother. I can understand you been torn between your dad and brother been able to see each other often and have your dad near you. It's a hard decision to make

In Norway most people have their Christmas decoration up until 6th January or 13th January. I haven't decided when my decoration will go down. It will happen either this weekend or the next :)

I totally agree with V that all people will see of her phone including her is the case. So it really doesn't matter what color the phone is since no one will see it. Wise of her to get a rose gold color since that's the color she wants :)

The older car gets the more repairs the car need. So it might be wise to start looking for a new truck for Josh before the truck his got now has to have many expensive repairs.

How great that you are happy with the pedicure Allison gave you. It's great that you can help her getting some training and it's great that the price is so low that you are able to afford it even on a super strict budget.

Here everything is back to normal again from today. It's kind of nice that everything goes back to normal even if it was nice not having to go to physiotherapy 2 times a week.

On New Years Eve my dad told Ulf and I that going on a cruise isn't that expensive since everything is paid for, even the food. My parents went on a cruise for the first time in September and they liked it very much.

Yesterday I checked Disney cruise just for fun. But it was easier said than done to find out what I wanted to find out. I search the whole website to find out what exactly is included in the cruise package. But I didn't manage to find that information. I found a vague list of what is included in the price, but that isn't enough since a vague list doesn't help when you're making a budget for what you need to use money on while on a cruise.

Loved the updates! It is helping me get excited for our trip (which is soon, and that's hard to believe). Is The Wave at the Contemporary where you go for breakfast sometimes? I made a reservation there for DH and I just to have some time away from the rest of the family. He likes big breakfasts and this seemed like a good way to get some time together without the kids and my parents and we won't be missing park time with them.;)
I am so glad you got to go see your dad and brother. They are cute.
I took our tree and Christmas decorations down on Friday. I just couldn't stand all the extra clutter anymore. It was funny, though, after it was down the house seemed kinda empty. :)
Max and Cooper are just adorable! It's cute that they sleep close to each other like that. My dogs do sometimes but mostly they find their own spaces.
Have a great day!

Even if she doesn't choose this career path - it's still something good to fall back on one day if she needs it.
My business partner started out as a beautician. She became a firefighter (still is) and now partner in our Scuba shop. She still cuts hair for a few of her old customers and makes extra money! So no matter what Allison does, she can always do hair/nails too!

I am working hard this week too, to turn my eating habits back around
Aren't we all. I ate everything in sight for the holidays. Back to the real world with better eating habits!

Hahaha - I agree - I also think they are starting to look more alike.
I was thinking the same thing, but didn't mention it as your girls might not enjoy the comparison (but maybe they do?)

This picture of the boys reminds me of one when Cooper was still a baby...
Every time I see your dogs and your beautiful floor I wonder if you chose the color based on their fur--they match! (Probably helps hide some of the fur, too!)

I'm going to take down Christmas decorations today. I worked 1/2 day, but since all of our vendors are still closed, there wasn't much I could accomplish other than accounting stuff. It always looks so boring once the decorations are put away.

Glad you got to visit your Dad and brother. A good friend's Mother just passed away--always a reminder that we need to see and enjoy our family when we can.

What an amazing trip this sounds like! I have to ask though... how do you store all these awesome mugs?? I have gotten rid of most of my mugs and have left only the Disney You-Are-Here ones!

I'm so glad you had a nice visit with your Dad and your brother. :-) I love the picture of Allison fixing Josh's hair!

Fun trip report update. The MNSSHP parade is my absolute favorite - especially the grave diggers. But that woman invading V's personal space like that -- totally unacceptable! It seems like crowds and people are getting more and more rude on each trip we go on. It's sad. But seriously -- she was absolutely and entirely in the wrong. I don't blame V for snapping at her! Alyssa is the same way about personal space and touchiness (it's so funny -- I think your girls and my girls are SO much alike in personality and temperament!). She gets pretty irritated if people invade her personal space, and she snapped at a couple of kids at the Star Wars fireworks on our trip in August. They were play fighting with light sabers and one of the kids stepped on her hand (we were sitting on the ground), and then the other kid hit her in the face with a light saber. She had asked several times for them to stop or to move -- and loudly enough for their parents to hear and tell the kids (half-heartedly) to stop or move. But when the kid stepped on her hand and then the other one hit her in the face, she really snapped and yelled. The parents scolded the kids and took the light sabers away and made them sit down...and then gave Alyssa dirty looks through the fireworks show. *Sigh*

We took down our Christmas tree and most of the interior decorations today. There are still a few to take down. But it's been raining all day so all of the outside decorations are wet, so we're going to have to wait to take those down and box them up until they dry out. It's always sad for me when we take the decorations down. And doubly so this year since we boxed Alyssa's ornaments up separately so she and Andrew will have them for their first Christmas as a married couple next year.

The wedding dress saga...oh my...We went to a huge fabric warehouse store in DC today -- we were told that if we couldn't find what we needed there, it probably didn't exist. Well, we learned a couple of things. First, lace fabric in the width Alyssa's friend said we needed does not exist. Second, lace is MUCH more expensive in DC than it is in Utah! The cheapest lace fabric we found was $90/yard....the one we liked the best was $200/yard! NO WAY. I didn't want to push Alyssa to change her mind and buy a dress instead of having her friend make it, but over the weekend she came to me and said she felt like we weren't going to find reasonably priced lace that she liked (since it's a lace dress, it's important that the lace look gorgeous) and that she felt it would be much less stressful to buy a dress, and she also said she felt like she let Emily guilt her into making the dress because of some stuff in their history. I was secretly relieved and told her that I completely supported her decision. Fortunately, we have a friend who owns a large bridal salon about three hours from where Alyssa goes to school in Utah and she said she would give us a discount on the dress if it was one they carried or could order for us. Alyssa did some looking online this weekend and found several dresses in the style she wants (fit and flare, sleeves to the elbow, all over lace, scalloped lace at the bottom, with a soft color under ivory lace). They all have V necks and she prefers a round neckline, but the salon can do alterations. We contacted our friend and she said they carry several of the dresses Alyssa picked out and so Alyssa will go down there next Saturday (not this coming Saturday) to try the dresses on and make her decision. I am very, very relieved. And it looks like we'll be able to get the dress for less than I had budgeted for it, which is great...since the photographer (Andrew's sister-in-law) is going to cost more than I expected. Oh well.....

We got so much planning done this weekend -- the wedding invitations have been selected, the food has been decided on, the center pieces have been decided on, and we found my Mom's dress for the wedding. And I found my dress. I was going to go with pink (the colors are pink and silver/gray) but we were out shopping after Christmas and Lord and Taylor was having a great sale...they had a gorgeous dark gray dress on clearance, plus an additional 40% off.....I tried it on and it fit perfectly, no alterations needed. And, if I can toot my own horn for a moment, it looked pretty darn good. Alyssa and my Mom insisted that I get it...it cost me $56. Woohoo! I absolutely love a bargain! We're trying to finalize bridesmaids attire, and Andrew's Mom has ordered the pants, vests, socks, and ties for the groomsmen. We're getting there! We also started making some of the decorations for the reception. By the time she goes back to school on Friday we should have 90% of the planning done. Yea!

I'm off this week, other than working a couple of mornings from home...trying to maximize my time with Alyssa. Mark and Brie go back to school tomorrow.

Have a great day!

Hey D! Those are great pics of your Dad and brother. It looks like you all had a good visit with both of them. It's too bad the girls couldn't go, but Yay for leftover Chinese food!
This just goes to show how unselfishly you love them. You are showing your daughters how we are supposed to "honor our Fathers and Mothers". It seems like such a general statement until you are actually called upon to take care of someone who has taken care of you. I can't imagine what a strange feeling that must be, but you are doing a great job and being a great example.

I know that many (myself included) don't think of cosmetology school as a difficult thing - however, I've been quite surprised at the different things she has to learn - like the anatomy of the head, laws concerning hygiene/health/salon ownership... Just a whole gammit of things that I didn't realize.
It's true! I was little when my mom went to beauty school, but she kept all her books, and I remember being surprised at all the anatomy and chemistry she had to know. That was in the 80's, so I am sure it's much more involved now. I think this was such a smart, mature decision for her to make. It will only benefit her whether she decides to make a career of it or not!

I would love your chicken fajita recipe!

Guurl- it is your Chicken fajita recipe, LOL! :rotfl: It's the Paleo one that I repinned from your pinterest board. I just boil the chicken and shred it instead of cutting it into chunks. It seems to make more volume-wise that way.

No worries! I would read without pictures, too. You have gone above and beyond-I'm sure I would have given up by now. You are right, though, pictures are fun. Some of V's faces just say it all, Lol. I am going back to read again after I finish this.

If it was possible - I'd throw a large trash bag over the top of it and store it decorated.

I actually just read a tip (maybe on Pinterest? I can't remember) that said to just take a full roll of Saran wrap and tightly wrap it around the tree- decorations and all- and store it standing up. I don't know... could work...

You will do great Brandi - I just know it!

Day 1 went pretty well. Although, I was hungry before bed last night. I drank some herbal tea to try to stave off the hunger. I know one thing, though, I detest black coffee! That was the one thing I knew would be hard for me. I woke up with a headache this morning, so I am having a cup of black coffee now and I think I will have some Green Tea later. DH has been on board so far, but he goes back to work tomorrow, so I think that might change things. He says he is working on a work-out plan for us, which frankly, scares me. He tends to go "Marine mode" when it comes to working out which is way overboard in my opinion. Anyway, here's to day 2! Thanks for the encouragement and inspiration! I'm glad to be on this road with you.
