I like to come to this forum as a little respite from the bickering that will only escalate with this coming election -- which candidate is least worse for our country

Well I think it's time to go back to obsessing over the ADRs I missing out on.

What do you expect to see when you enter a thread about a mass shooting that specifically targeted the LGBT community? Puppies and sunshine?

People are extra sensitive at a time like this and they have every right to be. That tweet, whether it was coincidental or not is disturbing after such a tragedy. Give people a break. It hasn't even been 24 hours.

There are over reactions coming from all sides. Let people get over the shock before calling their feelings disturbing.

I can not fathom the fact that this guy was looked at by FBI for terrorist links, there may or may not be questions about the father's pedigree, and he STILL got a license to carry?? WTH??? Make it tougher for him, for Pete's sake. The PC stuff has to go bye bye. My Chief of Police can deny my LTC for a whim, I think having the FBI give you the hairy eye ball should be pretty clear grounds for denial.

If the FBI was "looking at him" local and state law enforcement would not know that.

He was supposedly (according to news reports) "on the FBI's radar" 3 years ago. Most likely, he popped up somehow, someone took a look at him and decided he was not a threat because there were no indicators found by that investigator, and the FBI moved on to other potential threats.

The fact that he was looked at by the Bureau doesn't bother me; what bothers me is that they are running their mouths about it. Somebody has too many ego needs, and that kind of unprofessional grandstanding can compromise a sensitive investigation.

The permit that this guy had was a "G" security guard permit which allowed him to carry a plainly visible firearm while working as a security guard. The only requirement for that permit is that he not have a criminal record, and that he passed a gun safety course.

His permit -- or lack of a permit -- has nothing to do with his crime. He would have committed the crime because he wanted to, and would not have been deterred in the slightest by ANY law.

He wanted to kill people and he did.

And that's where communication needs to be improved. I am 100% behind the 2cnd Ammendment, but I still don't want terrorists to have their jobs made any easier! And I know for a fact he would have found another way even if he was denied a LTC, just feels like another case of someone dropping the ball.
