Glennbo’s City, Sand, and Savanna PTR - TR Link (pg 73)

I'll just stay home, DIS, and post about park bags and shoes.

Oh, I will be looking forward to that update: the Glennbo Family's show planning!!! :thumbsup2:lmao:

I hope Lauren and Judy will have a wonderful time in NYC! I loved my time there in 2008 and would love to return.

I have no idea what Kleinfelds is about, I guess a TV show?

Ha! I found you! Another glennbo and family TR!:woohoo:

Yay Rozz! I knew you'd be watching! :welcome:

Okay, I think I'm ready: Judy sightings, random words for ad effect (affect?), and keep up with reading report updates. Got it!

Check, check, and check.

Lauren made a great choice for her special trip! So exciting! :)

They're going to have a great time. ::yes::

What a fun graduation trip! I have always wanted to go to NYC. I am glad they will be taking pics and notes of their adventures.

I want to go too! I'll have to keep stressing that I want pictures and narrative!

Lauren will love New York City. I've never been but DD Michelle went last January and August with her now husband to be. The one show she wanted to see was Wicked. They saw it and January and loved it! They didn't go to Klienfield's but she did "say yes to a dress" Thursday night. There is so much to see and do I know they will have a fabulous time.

Congratulations! I didn't realize that Michelle was engaged. :bride:

Glad to hear they liked Wicked.

Cool NYC trip. I hope it was a good trade point wise. It really seems like some of the trades aren't. I'm glad it was easy to do.

I know I'm probably looking at it the wrong way, but other than the trade-out fee ($95, I think) it's no cash out of my pocket, so it "feels" okay. Of course I'm paying maintenance fees, so who knows. At least I'm not paying rack rate for a Manhattan hotel.

I love "Say Yes to the Dress". Not quite as much as "What not to Wear", but it is a fun show and the reruns come on during my lunch time and since we have a TV in our office. Well, let's just say I'm a fan.

For me it's like "seen one, seen 'em all", but I don't think I'm in the demographic they're targeting! :rotfl2:

Wicked is unbelievable phenomenal! The will LOVE it. It's the best singing anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!! I saw it at the Academy of Music a couple years ago and the tickets were less than half of what they charge in NYC. Still - such a cool experience. I hope they have a wonderful time!

That's great to hear! :yay: I'm sure they will.

I love everything they are doing in NYC! Wicked toured in Wichita and we saw it and it was wonderful! Klienfields would be such a fun experience! They are so lucky to have you planning this for them!

Maybe I should send them to Witchita...sounds less expensive. ;)

Glad you liked it, I'm sure they'll love it too.

We saw Wicked in NY on a "date" trip (and my kids are not huge fans of those either lol!), it was wonderful! They will have a GREAT time!

Thanks, I'm sure you're right.

I might have to plan one of those (date trip to NYC) one of these days also. Sounds like a great couple-of-days getaway.

Lucky, Lauren. I've always wanted to go to NY and Mark would never take me (he used to go twice a year)...he always told me it was just like Chicago--just bigger and dirtier. :confused3

That's funny, Judy used to go to Chicago once a year for PChef conferences and she always wished that she could take us to show us the city, she really liked it, but the rest of us never got to go.

Sounds like a great "city" portion of the trip for her and Judy!

I think it'll be great too.

What a great trip! And a wonderful way to see NYC. I've actually gone with two different women to either get their dress altered at Kleinfeld or to try on dresses there. Its not all that exciting, but I'm sure television makes it seem that way. I've never see the show.

They try to come up with different things to focus on, like differences of opinion between the bride and her mother (or other people), or hard-to-fill requests of the bride, etc.

They are going to love Wicked!

And, yes, NYC prices can put a lot of things in perspective. :rotfl:

With the prices, it's probably better that I don't go. I don't want to know!

Also, one of my close friends lives in the city and does a great job guiding various friends and family members through the highlights of the city, so I can give you some suggestions. What neighborhood is the hotel in?

200 W. 56th Street. A block from Carnegie Hall and 3 blocks from Central Park.

How fun for Lauren and Judy! It is hard to believe Lauren could be graduating - well, not that she couldn't graduate, just that she is almost grown up!

Tell me about it. It's really weird...I don't feel old enough for this! Senior night at the last football game (she's in the band), we had to escort her across the field at halftime to receive a rose -- it was surreal.

Dawn, Punkin413 had what I think was an amazing NYC trip a few years ago - Here is a link to her TR - I know she ate close to Broadway http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2189155

I was impressed with her visit, because I would be afraid it would be so busy and overwhelming that I wouldn't know what to do.

I remember that, but had forgotten...I'll have to go look at it again. Thanks!

A graduation trip to NYC is fantastic! I may be a bit biased LOL.

Oh yeah? I wonder why? ;)

I know The Manhattan Club (pass it all the time). The location is FANTASTIC.

It looked good on the map! Close to a lot of stuff.

Wicked is an amazing show. I've seen it twice and it was worth every penny each time.

:thumbsup2 Good to hear!

Kleinfeld is an amazing place. I got my prom dress at Kleinfeld's in 1995 when they were still located in Brooklyn.

I think they'll have fun. I don't know how long the Kleinfeld people will let them browse, but I think Lauren just wants to check it out.

If you need any help planning, brochures, information, subway maps, let me know. Also, I can definitely recommend various restaurants in all price ranges. Since I don't (can't) cook and most of my friends don't either, I'm always at a new restaurant.

Wow, thanks for the offer! I may be hitting you up.

Would Lauren and Judy want to do a spa experience? Manicures and pedicures? There's a great place not too far from The Manhattan Club.

I'm sure they'd consider it. I'll mention it to Judy. I think the hotel also offers them.

Oh, I will be looking forward to that update: the Glennbo Family's show planning!!! :thumbsup2:lmao:

Don't wait too long for that update!

I hope Lauren and Judy will have a wonderful time in NYC! I loved my time there in 2008 and would love to return.

Thanks, I'm sure they'll have a great time.

I have no idea what Kleinfelds is about, I guess a TV show?

Yes, it's a reality show called "Say Yes to the Dress" about women shopping for a wedding dress.

If you had told me 20 years ago what would make up the television programming now, I wouldn't have believed it!

I've been waiting for something like this! A little late, but this just means I have more posts to read!

Oh my, I missed the boat here! Dang, and I missed the Judy sighting too. Though technically, I do see part of Judy's arm reflected on the table so wouldn't that be like 2 1/2 Judys?? Rules Committee??

Joking aside, this trip looks like it's going to be amazing though possibly still moist, right?;) Lots of cool milestones too...Lauren's graduation and your parent's 60th! Wow, those are both perfect reasons for trips and celebrations!

And NYC? Oh, I've always wanted to go (I don't count my senior class trip:laughing:). Tell Lauren she has excellent taste. What a fun trip that will be! I've never seen Wicked but it was in our area this summer which sold out lickety split. I hope Lauren and Judy have a fabulous time together!

Looking forward to the plans Glenn!:thumbsup2 Hope you and your sweet family had a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year too.:goodvibes

:welcome: Yuki! You're not late...we're just getting started. I'm glad you're here.

Oh my, I missed the boat here! Dang, and I missed the Judy sighting too. Though technically, I do see part of Judy's arm reflected on the table so wouldn't that be like 2 1/2 Judys?? Rules Committee??

An appeal to the Rules Committee already Molly? Well, I'll :welcome: you anyway. ;) Thanks for joining in! :yay:

Joking aside, this trip looks like it's going to be amazing though possibly still moist, right?;) Lots of cool milestones too...Lauren's graduation and your parent's 60th! Wow, those are both perfect reasons for trips and celebrations!

I think it's going to be a very memorable time for us.

I think she did a great job of picking too. I know they're going to have a great time!

Looking forward to the plans Glenn!:thumbsup2 Hope you and your sweet family had a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year too.:goodvibes

Aw thanks -- we did! And I hope your family did as well. :goodvibes

Hi Glennbo, subbing. I just love trip planning, especially when it the theme is Disney!

Yes, it's a reality show called "Say Yes to the Dress" about women shopping for a wedding dress.

If you had told me 20 years ago what would make up the television programming now, I wouldn't have believed it!

Ok, this has me rather intrigued now - how can the show be about shopping for a wedding dress??? Well, I guess I better look it up on wikipedia - which is another thing I would not have dared to dream about 20 years ago.

Reminds me of a conversation I had recently with a friend about Star Trek and how we watched The Next Generation as teenagers and thought the touch screens were so cool! Now my iPhone has one and even has the voice control...

Tell me about it. It's really weird...I don't feel old enough for this! Senior night at the last football game (she's in the band), we had to escort her across the field at halftime to receive a rose -- it was surreal.

Oh, that is so sad - as you go through this year, there are more and more "lasts" for the year. You should have seen us all blubbering together outside the locker room at the last football game. The boys came out and were a little put off with us, I think. :rotfl2:

Im sure Judy & Lauren are going to have a great time in NYC! WTG getting the room fairly easy too!!! :thumbsup2

DW & I have wanted to see Wicked for a while but we were waiting for Juliana to get a little older. Maybe we will take her this spring. :confused3

I looked in on your blog a couple of times, but didn't see much activity there either...
I have a blog???

:rotfl: Yeah, I pretty much gave up on that project, didn't I?! Thanks for the welcome - it's nice to be back! :goodvibes Leo's doing well - we're definitely still spending a ridiculous amount of time with The Mouse, though we've added The Wizard and The Simpsons to our Central FL Theme Park arsenal. :teeth:

…and Lauren’s high school graduation is looming this Spring, June of 2012.
OMG, already?!?! :faint:

After borrowing some points from my next use year to cover the trade, and some discussion around a few other items, I was off the phone. The whole process only took about 15 minutes. :woohoo:
:thumbsup2 This is really encouraging - I have no plans to trade in the near future, but figure we might down the road and I wondered what the process was like.

The "City" portion of the trip is for two of our clan, Judy and Lauren, spending 3 nights in June, in New York City.

My goodness, Glenn. Between the Pre-Trip Report and the Actual Trip Report threads, do you actually have time with your family? Do the kids have to schedule time with you around your DisBoard visits? "Sorry, Lauren, I am updating my 250-page TR on that day. But I have an opening on January 18 at 1:30. Oh wait, I'll be at work then. Can you meet with me on January 29 at 11:30pm? Oh, you'll be sleeping at that time?"

I have a new job which takes up so much time, I rarely visit the DisBoards anymore at work. And I have a four-year-old who takes up so much of my time that I rarely visit at home, either. The exact opposite of you, apparently.

In any case, I will do my very best to try to keep up with this mammoth beast that you call a PTR. It's only 7 pages now, but you and I both know it will easily be 868 pages by the time you take your next trip.

Ribbing aside...oh wait. I don't think I have any non-ribbing comments.

Until the next segment... :bitelip:

Hi Glennbo, subbing. I just love trip planning, especially when it the theme is Disney!

Hi Cin! :welcome: Good to have you along.

I agree, planning is half the fun...and I don't tell my family so that I can keep it all to myself.

Ok, this has me rather intrigued now - how can the show be about shopping for a wedding dress??? Well, I guess I better look it up on wikipedia - which is another thing I would not have dared to dream about 20 years ago.

Doesn't sound like much of a premise to go on, does it?

Reminds me of a conversation I had recently with a friend about Star Trek and how we watched The Next Generation as teenagers and thought the touch screens were so cool! Now my iPhone has one and even has the voice control...

I interned at IBM in the mid-80's and learned about a new project called "Global Positioning System". Now I'm throwing out all of my old maps.

Oh, that is so sad - as you go through this year, there are more and more "lasts" for the year. You should have seen us all blubbering together outside the locker room at the last football game. The boys came out and were a little put off with us, I think. :rotfl2:

I'm sure the worst will be when James goes through his senior year and we have our last "lasts". Right now it's just weird.

Im sure Judy & Lauren are going to have a great time in NYC! WTG getting the room fairly easy too!!! :thumbsup2

I'm sure they will too. I was glad it worked out, I didn't really have a plan "B" if I couldn't get the dates I wanted.

DW & I have wanted to see Wicked for a while but we were waiting for Juliana to get a little older. Maybe we will take her this spring. :confused3

I hope you do.....start saving!

I have a blog???

:rotfl: Yeah, I pretty much gave up on that project, didn't I?!

Well, if I'd ever figured out how to post to it maybe you would have known you had a reader. :guilty:

Leo's doing well - we're definitely still spending a ridiculous amount of time with The Mouse, though we've added The Wizard and The Simpsons to our Central FL Theme Park arsenal. :teeth:

Sounds great! We still haven't made it over there, and unfortunately am not planning it for this upcoming trip either. But someday, I promise!

OMG, already?!?! :faint:

Yes, already! :faint:

:thumbsup2 This is really encouraging - I have no plans to trade in the near future, but figure we might down the road and I wondered what the process was like.

It seems like it's easy as long as there's availability. If not, then I think you need to supply some other potential dates for them to look into for you, etc.

My goodness, Glenn.

Hucifer!!! You're alive! :welcome:

Surely you've taken that trip to Hawaii by now....how was it?

Between the Pre-Trip Report and the Actual Trip Report threads, do you actually have time with your family?

Who? Oh yeah, those people. I took a few months off after the last TR ended until I started this one to get reacquainted with them. Now I think we're good until June, when I'll see them for the trip. ;)

Ha! I can see you still have a youngster at home....I've reached the point (and this is terrible to admit) where at least Lauren and sometimes Marlene stay up later than me.

I have a new job which takes up so much time, I rarely visit the DisBoards anymore at work.

Stupid work.

In any case, I will do my very best to try to keep up with this mammoth beast that you call a PTR.

:yay: and :woohoo:

It's only 7 pages now, but you and I both know it will easily be 868 pages by the time you take your next trip.

No, the mods'll make me open a new thread when it hits 250. :teeth:

Ribbing aside...oh wait. I don't think I have any non-ribbing comments.

You are like the Don Rickles of Disboard commenters, so I'll take that as a compliment!

Until the next segment... :bitelip:

:)

Surely you've taken that trip to Hawaii by now....how was it?
WONDERFUL!!! OMG, it was a trip of a lifetime. I have a video of it on YouTube. I don't have the link right now (YouTube is blocked right now at work), but I'll get it to you. Keep reminding me.

Who? Oh yeah, those people. I took a few months off after the last TR ended until I started this one to get reacquainted with them. Now I think we're good until June, when I'll see them for the trip. ;)
That sounds about right.

Ha! I can see you still have a youngster at home....I've reached the point (and this is terrible to admit) where at least Lauren and sometimes Marlene stay up later than me.
That's because they're up late, reading your TRs and PTRs so that they can get to know the father they never see anymore.

You are like the Don Rickles of Disboard commenters, so I'll take that as a compliment!
My reputation precedes me. I can only hope I'm as good looking at Don too.

Nah, he's pretty well grounded. And besides, in addition to being a poem, it also appears in a movie. :rolleyes1

You all are on page 7, but I'm still back here on page 2, so I will jump in here with the movie answer...it is Lethal Weapon.....uh.....4? We watched them all yesterday :rolleyes1

Oh.....and I'm here!!!

An appeal to the Rules Committee already Molly? Well, I'll :welcome: you anyway. ;) Thanks for joining in! :yay:

Yep, an appeal already! You had to know it would be either me or Marv, right? How often does the Rules Committe meet anyway? I don't want to waiting forever to hear their ruling!

I think it's going to be a very memorable time for us.

I'd say so. Too bad you couldn't weasel your way into the NYC trip though.;)

Aw thanks -- we did! And I hope your family did as well. :goodvibes

We did too! Lots of family, lots of fun and too much peppermint bark and fudge. Christmas goes so fast though, I think we should petition to have it made into a week long holiday rather than just one day.

WONDERFUL!!! OMG, it was a trip of a lifetime. I have a video of it on YouTube. I don't have the link right now (YouTube is blocked right now at work), but I'll get it to you. Keep reminding me.

Great! Good to hear. Now, how 'bout that link?

We're planning on a "parents only" trip to the new Hawaiian DVC resort in 2014, which will be a milestone anniversary for us.

That sounds about right.

Yeah, that's what I figured.

That's because they're up late, reading your TRs and PTRs so that they can get to know the father they never see anymore.

He's such a great guy, on paper.

My reputation precedes me. I can only hope I'm as good looking at Don too.

I've met you in person and can say, yes, you are that good looking. ;)

We try to go to a show once a year... but yea, they are a little pricey. :teeth:

Once a year is probably good, especially for you living relatively close....it's a special treat, and doesn't completely break the bank.

Oh.....and I'm here!!!

I'll answer this one first -- Tanya! :welcome:

How's everything? Are you doing well?

You all are on page 7, but I'm still back here on page 2, so I will jump in here with the movie answer...it is Lethal Weapon.....uh.....4? We watched them all yesterday :rolleyes1

I haven't seen the Lethal Weapon series past the 2nd one, so you are probably right, but it wasn't the movie I was thinking of....I was thinking of the ending of The Dead Poet's Society.

Yep, an appeal already! You had to know it would be either me or Marv, right?

Yep, you two are who my money'd be on.

How often does the Rules Committe meet anyway? I don't want to waiting forever to hear their ruling!

Quite frequently....every time I talk to myself.

I'd say so. Too bad you couldn't weasel your way into the NYC trip though.;)

Oh I could...but should I?

We did too! Lots of family, lots of fun and too much peppermint bark and fudge. Christmas goes so fast though, I think we should petition to have it made into a week long holiday rather than just one day.

My kids and teaching wife only had last week off -- they didn't even have yesterday, Jan. 2nd off. I guess the school district didn't realize that everybody else was taking it as a holiday.

Glenn I've done 2 Sr nights at football games already, seen one graduate from college and Michelle will graduate from LSU in December of this year. Since Danielle is only 12 I have a very long wait before I'm done. Michelle is planning on tying the knot March 2013 so the next year, we will be busy with planning that. It all just seems to go by in a blur.

Enjoy Lauren's SR year. My oldest is a boy and didn't really get into the school stuff much. He did spend all 4 years in the band so we did enjoy that. Michelle was very much into school and I had a great time experiencing her SR year. Fun but very expensive. Looking back she says she loved high school, it the best time in her life.
