Finally; B2B Norway & Northern Europe - June 2015 - Loads of Photos

Day 5 - Geiranger, Norway - Wednesday, June 10, 2015 - All Ashore 8:30am - All Aboard 4:45pm - Cloudy with a High of 44 Degrees. Tonight is the Semi-Formal Night.

Wow, what a day this was. DH and I got up at the announced time of 5:30am to watch as we came into the Fjord. Somewhere around 6:00am the Seven Sisters Waterfall would be visible. We were up on Deck 10 at the Forward end of the ship, with everyone else, lol. Disney had a great spread of coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies in these areas. Disney always goes the extra mile for their guests and that is something DH and I love.

Our excursion for the Day was - “Views of Norway” - 3.5 to 4 hours - $99 per person - Travel to Lake Djupvatn and on to Mount Dalsnibba (approx. 60 min.) for a photo stop at the viewpoint. Continue to the Djupvasshytta Lodge for traditional Norwegian and Danish pastries and free time to explore (approx. 45 min.). Drive to the beautiful Flydalsjuvet viewpoint (approx. 30 min.) for a photo stop and return to the pier.

We boarded a bus and made our way up to Flydalsjuvet viewpoint for a photo stop. Views were great and we were so glad we could see the Disney Magic.

When we got off the bus it was snowing, cold, and very windy. The wind chilled me to the bone. I wanted to play in the snow some, but I was to cold. I did not dress properly.

The pastries was very good. We felt they spent a little too much time at the Lodge, but we finally got on our way to the Flydalsjuvet viewpoint. Here are a couple photo’s of the road on our way up and then one of a home from far above.

Flydalsjuvet Viewpoint was too cloudy to see anything, but I did enjoy the snow falling. It was also extremely cold. We were there about 20 minutes before we headed back into town.

Once we were finished with our excursion we stayed in town to look around. It started to rain, but we didn’t care. We hiked up the steps next to the Waterfall in town. It comes from way up high and ends at the bottom. Here are a few pics.

Now for a great view of the Disney Magic as we got ready to board.

We went back to our cabin, showered, and tried to get warm again. I think this was one of the nights we went to Cabana’s to eat. We went thru the shops and bought lots of stuff. Toward the end of the cruise the shops are more manageable, but they do run out of stuff. So if your on a first time cruise, like Norway was, then buy those items in the first couple days.

We went to see the show in the Walt Disney Theatre called The Magic of Light. It was a pretty good show, we enjoyed it. We called it an early night and we were thrilled that the next day was a Sea Day.

Day 6 - Bergen, Norway- Thursday, June 11, 2015 - All Ashore 7:45am - All Aboard 5:15pm - Partly Sunny with a high of 53 Degrees.

The Disney Excursion we went on was - Hardanger Fjord with Lunch - 7 to 7.5 hours - $179 per person - Drive through scenic Bergen (approx. 75 minutes) including historic Hanseatic Merchant houses, King Haakon’s Hall and the Rosenkranz Tower, the Fish and Flower Market, the City Park and the Grieghall. Pass the community of Os, where your motor coach will board a Ferry crossing the Fusafjord to Venzjaneset. Travel to Mundheim (approx. 60 minutes) and the scenic shore next to the mountains of Folgefonna. Have a Norwegian hot and cold buffet lunch in Oystese (approx. 90 minutes). Drive to the Steinsdalsfossen waterfall to explore (approx. 30 min.) and up the Tokagjel gorge. Return to the pier.

We did this tour in reverse. The ferry part was when we were heading back to the pier. This was one of my favorite excursions. The scenery was just breath taking as I hope you can see in the photo’s I’ll post.

We boarded a bus and enjoyed the scenery until we reached our first stop. Here are a few pics of the scenery seen while on bus, I took these photo thru the window.

First Stop was the Tokagjel Gorge. We were there only a few minutes, but the views were beautiful.

We continued on until we came to our next stop. One of the most popular waterfalls in Norway. The Steinsdalsfossen has a fall of 50 m and is special because you can walk safe and dry behind it. The fall occured in 1699 when the river changed course. There is a path from the parking lot up to and under the waterfall. We really enjoyed this stop. We were there about 30 or 40 minutes. The following are some of the photo’s I took.

Our next stop took about 60 minutes to get there. We had a Norwegian hot and cold buffet lunch in Oystese. Just outside the restaurant was a scenic shore next to the mountains of Folgefonna. Everything about this stop was breathtaking and we enjoyed every minutes of our stop.

Here is a photo of Bergen that I took just before the bus dropped us off at the Pier. We arrived back at the ship with no time to walk around this wonderful little town. I was very disappointed in that. But we did have a wonderful day, so we will just have to return again some day.

Once back on the ship, there was big doin’s going on, as Mickey says in his wake up call. Tonight was the big “Freezing the Night Away”. We decided to walk thru Deck 5 to see what was going on and we hit the jackpot. We were able to see Mickey and Goofy in their Norway outfits.

We went to our cabin, changed clothes and went back to the Atrium to watch Oakens Maypole. As you can see, the Atrium is decorated for the Freezing the Night Away festivities.

Love your photos! We are doing a Norway Fjords cruise with NCL next summer and many of your ports are the same.

At 8:45 we went to see Walt Disney - The Dream Goes On. It was very good and we were very glad we went. If you have a chance to see it, do so.

We made our way to Deck 9 to find a spot to stand so we could see the “Freezing the Night Away” with Anna, Elsa and Friends - 10:15 p.m., Deck 9 Stage. It was very cold and we were bundled up for the event. The show was cute, the singing was good, especially the girl who played Elsa and sang the “Let it Go” song. There was a cute little cartoon with Olaf that everyone loved. We were a little disappointed that there wasn’t any snacks or ice sculptures. This event did not compare to the Pirates in the Caribbean Deck Party at all. It was good, but not on the level of the Pirates Event. You can see what took place in the following photo’s.

I left my filled out forms for the Scavenger Hunt for Pa, my room servant that night before she got there. The next morning when she cleaned our cabin she left our prizes for answering all of the questions correctly. I liked the prizes very much, more snacks for our excursions on the next cruise, which would start once this one ended, since we were doing a B2B. FYI, those Rice Krispy treats are wonderful.

Love it!! Can't wait to see your Baltic report, I am on this summer Baltic cruise. After we bought the airfare and hotels for our cruise now I wish I have booked a back to back with Norway. I guess there's always a next year.

enjoying your TR! Looks like a lot of physical activity on the excursions. No cruise weight gain on this cruise I would think. I want to take DS on a Europe trip next summer for high school graduation. He doesn't like to be cold, so I am thinking this is not the trip for us...?
