Drinks allowed past security

Okay, I must know. Tell me about the canned corn family. . .

I think you might be able to search and find a thread. The short version is there was a family that used a can of corn for a snack. Just opened it up and passed it around.

this was before security got tighter, would probably be harder to get something to open the can with or the can itself into the park these days.

I try to do a warm water, lemon juice, ACV, local raw honey drink every morning.

I am interested too. I have a lot of issues with my gut that no medication or doctor has been able to help.

I am actually sitting here drinking it right now, mixed into a mug of hot herbal tea. I think it's a little more bearable in room temperature water though! My "method" if you will, has been really simple - I just take a tall drinking glass each morning, fill it to the top with tap water, and then pour a bit of ACV in it and stir it up. I really don't measure the ACV but I think it's probably 2-3 teaspoons at most. It definitely is enough to taste bad but hopefully not do any damage to my teeth. I have heard that drinking it with a straw is even more teeth protection. Then I just grab a sip of it throughout the day until it's gone. Sometimes in the evening I fill up another glass but I don't think I've ever consumed two whole glasses like this in one day. When I am work I don't remember to drink it as much as when I am at home or teleworking. Actually the fact that it has greatly reduced my ongoing pain (which was often quite severe) makes me think for the first time that the doctors have been right all along about this being reflux. I was getting quite frustrated with them saying that (I saw just about every specialist and had just about every test you can think of!) but since ACV is known to help with reflux, and this seems to do so, then perhaps they were right. I know for sure that Prilosec (and many other OTC antacids) did not help me, in any dosing amount or pattern, as I tried them all. I actually think it was making things worse. I don't know that I completely understand the mechanism by which ACV, which is highly acidic, actually alkalizes your body, but it definitely seems to work! I feel as though it has also been easier to maintain my weight, and I do not get sudden blood sugar surges either. (I try to take a big sip first thing in the morning and also before meals)

One more thing: when you take a lot of antacids, it can cause you to become iron deficient, which is what happened with me, since iron needs acid to be absorbed. Unfortunately, I believe in hindsight that this became a double whammy for my esophagus. I was told to take iron supplements and even switched to the gentlest kind on the market, but I feel that they are very harsh going down, and exacerbated the pain. I have been much better since stopping the iron. Hopefully, since I am now nearly 100% weaned off the Prilosec (do NOT attempt to wean quickly if you are on a PPI!!) my iron levels will return to normal.. I also try to eat a lot of iron rich foods now...

Thanks to the mod for moving this and I'm sorry it got off topic! :)

I had my gallbladder removed. With no place to store excess bile, I developed bile reflux.

Before I knew it was bile I didn't understand why I was doubled over in worse pain after taking an antacid.

My gastroenterologist has been less than helpful. He threw Prilosec at me and pretty much called it a day

Bile is alkaline so antacids actually make symptoms worse.
This is why your ACV concoction has intrigued me.

yes, I've read about bile reflux and wonder about myself too, although I've not had my gallbladder removed. I can tell you that I was beyond exasperated with doctors constantly going to the "Prilosec fix." It does NOT work for everyone and you actually become dependent on them pretty quickly, even if they aren't helpful! I'm also reading some concerning studies coming out now on their long term use. I say give the ACV a month's try - it most likely can't hurt!!

Thanks Clawmachine! What I do is to put a couple of tablespoons of ACV in a cup, then pour ice cold water from the fridge in the cup. It makes it easier to drink. I also chug it down when I drink it.

My biggest problem is remembering to take it!
