What will the refurbishment be like in March 2017? We will be in a standard room. Is the main pool open? I'm trying to find info on the thread, but it would take me all day to read through.

Was able to apply spring passholder this morning so got 35% off wl for january and oops booked again for march! yippee

Kook add me 3/22-26 wl cl for me and my mom.

Take off January I decided to try AKL cl. ( I don't like 2 in a row resorts, lol)

That's the best kind of oops! Just applied the AP discount to our Jan 2017 reservation as well, happyhappy with the rates. It's our first WL stay, and I have realistic expectations re: construction.
My dad always took my mom on vacation in March for her birthday until a few years ago. I escorted them to disney their last trip 5 years ago. With the unexpected passing of my dad I thought a mom and me march trip would be in order. I think she will love WL. Last time we were at poly and she loved the convenience of CL. SO wl cl it is! I also timed it with DD21 spring break so maybe she can join us too.

There's no guarantee as to how fast the construction will progress, but I would expect that work will still be taking place in the South wing and on the cabins along the water's edge in March. The cabins should be mostly finished, and at some point the new restaurant East of the South wing will open, but we don't have a time frame yet.

The most important updates are on the first page of the thread, and there is another separate thread about the construction project linked from there if you want more info. The main pool and kids splash area are open and unaffected by this project. If you booked Standard View, you will likely be on the North side of the North wing, which will give you a view towards the MK. We expect that some of these rooms will be classified in the future as Theme Park View (more $$$) so if you get in before then you could have a great view like we did in September. Overall WL is a great resort and you should have a wonderful time.

Hi guys! I checked the Transportation post in this thread with the info about the nature trail from WL to FW, but I'm not sure if it's been updated. I just heard that the nature trail is closed due to the construction.

- Can anyone confirm if this is true?
- If so, does anyone know how long it will be closed for? I will be in WDW from 12/6-12/11
- If it is closed does anyone know if there is an alternate way to get from WL to FW on foot? I was really hoping to head to WL to check out the Christmas decorations and then start a run from there over to FW to check out the decorated campsites.

Thanks so much for any info anyone has! :flower3:

We will be there the last 3 nights of our 9 night stay.. I received a snail mail letter from Disney about the construction. The running trail is still open! We are renting bikes and riding over to FW to check out the campsites.

Gasparilla Island Grill at GF is also closed during our stay, we will be staying there for 6 nights. So YAY both of our resorts have construction going on now.lol

There is still the paved trail that runs along the road from WL to FW.

Thank you so much @wonderlandwego and @KAT4DISNEY for your prompt answers! I have never stayed at either resort, and actually am not staying there on this trip either. I'll be coming from Saratoga Springs, taking the bus from Disney Springs, and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to waste a bus ride and time by going to WL. And I didn't even realize there was a paved trail by the road in addition to the nature trail, that's awesome!

Thank you!

We were able to get 35% off with the passholder discount for our trip in March. :woohoo:This is during spring break so I am really happy to get it. We will overlap by a couple of days. :)

It will be interesting to see how much of the construction is finished by then. :)

We'll be there in March, too. The main pool is open and there are no plans to close it. I'm hoping that the south wing is still closed when we are there in March because then the resort will be less crowded. :)

The paved trail is open and will take you to Fort Wilderness where there are really long trails. Most of the trails are shaded, which is nice when you are running in Florida. :)

YAY! Cant wait to meet you Sue!

Two weeks to go and trying to figure out room location request based on our priorities. I understand getting more than one may be difficult since we have two deluxe rooms booked. First priority is being close together and on same floor. Other than that, what are the chances of getting some kind of impressive view other than solid trees? Pool area? Geyser? Lake? We will be using the ofc lounge frequently and have a lot of hotel time planned for pool etc. any ideas what section to ask for? I've read various posts on where to make the request. Can the ipo do it? They seem to be easiest to reach and very knowledgable.

As always, once I decide to go to WDW, I start to obsessively plan, can't stay off the Dis, and rethink ALL of my decisions for our June 2017 trip.

To get started I booked a standard view at WL. Now it's time to think and rethink that decision. This is an anniversary trip sans kiddos. View doesn't matter to us but quiet afternoons escaping crowds and summer heat do.

Without overkill, I can upgrade right now for Courtyard view or standard club level. Which would more likely meet our needs? Quiet, not overlooking a loading dock...Also a little magical.

To be honest, the changes to the resort worry me a bit. It was such a wonderful, relaxing trip three years ago.

Thanks.

We stayed in CL Deluxe room a few years ago on 2nd floor in the north tower. Limited views, basically could see the boat dock and water thru the trees. You may have a better view now that some of the trees have been removed due to construction. IIRC there was a connecting door in our room to the one next to us

We just booked a deluxe room for early April. I can't help you specifically but just FYI, some of us have been having a related/similar discussion about the location of the Deluxe rooms over on the Club Level thread over the last few days. Might confuse you more than it helps, but in case you want to go check it out.

Also FYI, rooms are assigned around 5 days out so you need to go ahead and get your requests in soon. Have a great trip!

The view will be exactly the same from any Deluxe room, they are all at the end of the Building. Since the South wing is closed, there are only 2 Deluxe rooms per floor and they are both at the end of the North wing with two rooms in between them.

The last time that I was there in 2013, there were 2 Deluxe rooms and 2 Q rooms that connect on each floor. Room, x000 had the best view of Bear Lake from the small balcony and x0003 had a view of the Courtyard from the small balcony. Note x is replaced with the floor number 1-6 and there are no Deluxe rooms on the 7th floor where the OFC is located.

Big Yes on making your request to the IPO and I would also suggest that you call and make sure your confirmation is updated to request for a same-floor co-location as your first option. For a second request ask for a higher floor to be closer to the OFC lounge.

Dave
