*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

Tomorrow I should be able to spend the day uploading Disney photos that are still on my memory stick from January. I should be teaching a lesson on canopic jars and how the ancient Egyptians used them during the mummification process. I should be at Equinox with my trainer doing squats while I stare at his biceps. But instead I'll be at Lenox Hill Hospital:scared:

I'm having laproscopic cholecystectomy, which is a fancy way of saying a surgeon is going to remove my gallbladder through tubes in my abdomen. :scared1:

I've been having gallbladder attacks for over a year, but but the first sonogram didn't show any stones. The sonogram person couldn't find my right kidney either. I went to a specialist, had an Upper GI, and was told that MAYBE it was esphogeal spasms. Ok. I altered my diet thinking that I somehow had crazy acid reflux that was causing my esphogus to wig out.

The attacks died down until a little over a month ago. Well, they were back in full force. Gallbladder attacks typically happen at night and can last for hours. It is the worst pain in the world and Advil doesn't help. So, this sent me right back to the specialist. He sent me to have a sonogram at a different Imaging place. And guess what they found? You got it. A 7mm stone hanging out my the common bile duct. This immediately brought me to the surgeon's office. The surgeon was great. She's very patient and explained the whole procedure.

Tomorrow should be a relatively easy day. In the hospital at 11, surgery at 12:30, and hopefully home in time to watch Everybody Loves Raymond reruns.

One bonus: The drugs that relax you before general anasthesia. What a great feeling! When I had septoplasty about 7 years ago, I couldn't stop laughing. I knew my doctor was only going to straighten my septum and remove bone so I could breathe through my right nostril and nothing was going to change the shape or size of my nose. But I was so out of it because of the drugs, I just kept laughing and telling everyone in the OR not to make my nose look like Michael Jackson :confused3

I'll be home all week, high on vicodin, and posting updates. I'll miss my students, but I'm sure they'll have fun taking advantage of a sub that doesn't know the routine. Thank goodness my assitant teacher will be with them.

:scared1:  to my newest friend....In no time you'll be on:cloud9:
Feel better!!! Let us know if you need anything!:hippie:

Good luck with the surgery tomorrow. I'm sure all will go well. Enjoy the pre-surgery serum.

But you left a loose end there. Did they ever find your right kidney?

I had septoplasty years ago. But I didn't know that was what it was called. It started with me breaking my nose at work and needing it straightened due to that, but they didn't know for sure whether it was the fall at work or whether it was something I was born with or something previous. Anyway, workers comp covered the whole thing. I didn't get to "pick my nose", as my DH says (meaning: choose, not: well, pick, I guess, for lack of a better word). Anyway, you brought back memories. I had no idea how they did it but when I woke up the nurse said "when he pulled out the septum and put it on the tray, I couldn't believe how crooked it was!!" I went "what? Nobody told me they were going to pull out the WHOLE SEPTUM!!" I will never forget it.

Ok, now the mods will surely throw me out for off-topic senseless, useless, TMI chatter. Sorry about that - I was on a roll.

Anyway, I will be thinking about you tomorrow. Rest well, and please post when you can, just to let us know you're ok.

good luck with the surgery tomorrow. I was on vicatin (SP?) when I broke my wrist. Too strong and only took 2 pills.

 :grouphug:

Saying a prayer right now....

Hope all turns out okay.:grouphug:

Vicoden......my friend when I burned the heck out of my hand.......:faint:

Middle school is a tough age. I could never do it. What subject do you teach?

Thanks!!! I think he knows he's a cutie and uses it to his advantage :rotfl:

I teach language arts (that wonderful combo of reading, grammar, and writing all mashed together  ).

Hope your procedure goes well today! Can't wait to see pics from your January trip!

My right kidney was found. I think the sonogram person was having an off day.

Septoplasty is so painful. I would never want to do that again.

Thanks! And I'll probably post lots this week since I'll be home.

Saying a prayer right now....

Thanks Jordan :)

Vicodin is going to be my best friend this week :lmao:

You have your hands full with language arts. Definitely not an easy subject to each, especially since it's a combo of so many things.

Thanks! And I'll post lots of pics.

Before I head to the hospital to have, according to one of my students, "a green thing in the stomach" removed, I'll post the important trip details.

Dates: August 9th - August 16th

Resort: August 9th ~Contemporary, Theme Park View
August 10th-16th ~ Polynesian, Theme Park View

*We already had a package booked when we got to the Poly in January. But ended up being able to apply a 30% bounceback. One problem: the bounceback didn't take effect until August 10th and we already had flights for August 9th-15th. So we used the bounceback at the Poly, extended our stay by a day, and used a AAA discount for a one night room only ressie at the CR.

Transportation: Right now, we have Magical Express. I'm considering a town car/limo service. But then I'll have to get my bags. Decisions, decsions...

Flights: 9:00 am flight from LaGuardia on American Airlines. We have an 8:00 pm flight coming home.

Tickets: 7 day park hopper passes. Hmmm may add Waterpark & Fun option

Meal Plan: Deluxe Dining

Some photos of T in our room at the Poly in January:

I hope everything goes smoothly with your surgery and I wish you a very quick recovery.

Your nephew is absolutely adorable. He's got quite a smile!

Your plans look fab! Can't wait to hear more.

oh....my....goodness!!

We WILL be there at EXACTLY the same time! We had narrowed it down to Poly vs. Beach Club when SAB pool won out for us. So we almost stayed with you as well.

Looks like you will be arriving a few hours ahead of us. We don't get there until around 4:30 on Sat the 9th. Return home on a 5pm flight the 16th.

T is absolutely adorable. Check out those eyelashes!

Thinking about you as you enter the surgery today....

I would stick with the ME, why waste time getting your bags.

Hope your not in too much pain after the surgery, oh wait I forgot the happy pills you will have. you will be on :cloud9:

:grouphug: Wishing you a speedy recovery from your surgery. I can't wait to read more of your report!!! Can't wait to see if the new baby goes to disney!!!

Oh my!! So you are going into surgery right about now. I'll be saying a prayer for you. I hope after this that you get to feeling a lot better.;)

Your trip plans look great!! I would love to stay at the Poly! DH and I were talking earlier about how between the 2 trips we are talking we could have stayed at the Poly and for longer than 6 days. Oh well, I'm liking the idea of 2 trips in one year. I had never really thought about trying to do it before. We usually just have one big blowout.

We could have also had the minimum points almost paid for in DVC!! :scared1: Oh well, I'm liking the idea of 2 trips in one year. I had never really thought about trying to do it before. We usually just have one big blowout. We are hoping to get in on DVC next year or in 2010.
