But We Haven't Lost Last Years Weight Yet! COMPLETED PAGE 32!

We started today at the hotel, and had our usual beignets. Instead of cereal Tony got us a Cheese Danish to try. I have spent my entire junk-food life avoiding cheese Danishes, thinking they sound ghastly. Well who is the idiot now?!!! They are lovely! It was like eating a cheesecake for breakfast, which can never be wrong!! We both gave breakfast 9/10.

We were at DHS this morning, and I spent the entire morning trying to talk Tony into trying Sci-Fi for lunch so we could try the oreo milkshake, and he just wouldn’t give in. I couldn’t understand it. . . we will find out why later! So we headed off to Grand Floridian Café for lunch as planned.

I decided to order the sandwich which I absolutely adored last year – the Roast Beef Sandwich - (Balsamic Onions, Pesto Mayonnaise, Arugula Salad, and Tomatoes served on Focaccia with Marinated Cucumber Salad or Home Made Chips). Tony went for the Angus Chuck Cheeseburger - served with Marinated Cucumber Salad or French Fries, and we agreed to split them so we could try them both.

The sandwich was Ok. Nothing wrong with it, but I couldn’t really work out what it was that I loved so much about it last year. It was tasty and fresh, but nothing that made me want to race back again. The fresh potato chips were lovely – we both gave them 10/10! Tony gave the sandwich 7/10 and I gave it 8. The burger was really good – really thick, juicy patty and lovely and fresh – 9/10 from both of us!

Then the reason for Tony’s refusal to go to Sci-Fi became clear . . . this arrived!!

The Cinderella castle cake!!!! It was really good and creamy! The bottom part is a cake, and the castle was hollow white chocolate. I would probably recommend the slipper slightly more as I loved the chocolate mousse that came with that, but this was really yummy as well, and a lovely surprise, bless him!

Dinner was where we always go our last night, Raglan Road. While waiting to be seated we bumped into Jane and Jim who were going to be on our cruise starting the next day – it was lovely to finally meet them after chatting online for so long! I thought I recognised them from their picture, so made Tony follow them around the Raglan Road shop to see if he could hear their names!!!!! :rotfl2:

Anyway, we got seated after about a 10 minute wait. I had been planning for a year what I was going to have. Heaven on Earth (baby back ribs in guiness and honey glaze) and Goats Town (goats cheese salad). Didn’t even need to look at the menu . . . that is until our waiter announced they were out of goats cheese. :scared1: :sad2:Devastated is not the word. This is by far the best goats cheese dish I have had anywhere in my life, and I always look so forward to it from one year to the next. I was absolutely inconsolable. The waiter saw how upset I was and told me to come back the next night for some . . . I felt it would be a little far to swim back, but said I would consider it!

I should say service was very good all evening. He was very attentive and friendly. We booked a late-ish meal so we could see the band and dancing – this was good but VERY loud – we couldn’t hear ourselves think to be honest. Maybe not the best place for a romantic date!

In the end I ordered the heaven on earth, and fish and chips. Tony ordered drunk chicken (whisky glazed chicken kebab) and meatballs & pasta.

The ribs were absolutely lovely. Loads of meet on them, and a lovely flavour. I could have eaten another portion quite happily! They get 10/10, and accolade of best ribs on Disney!

Tony gave his chicken dish 6/10. It was a huge portion – basically two whole chicken breasts on sticks!

P1030387.jpg

The soda bread came out with dipping oils - this was in muffin form this year and was lovely. It has such a deep taste and was crispy on the outside and really soft in the middle.

P1030389.jpg

The fish and chips were nice . . . I just didn’t really fancy them. If you want fish and chips I highly recommend them as they were lovely and fresh, but I needed me the goats cheese! They get 8/10.

Tony really enjoyed the meatballs and pasta and gave them 9/10 – they were a massive portion, and very tasty according to his notes! I can't find these on the online menus, and we can't remember exactly what they were. We think they were pork meatballs, in a tomato sauce with penne pasta.

We were too stuffed for a dessert . . . ::eek:

I would definitely return here, we have never had a bad meal here yet . . . hopefully next year they will order enough goats cheese in to satisfy my needs though!!!!!!

Coming next I will do the very last day of our trip (after the cruise) which is Beaches n Cream and Earl of Sandwich (I know, again!!), before returning to the cruise!

I can't believe they didn't have the goats cheese :scared1:

I can't wait to get back to Raglan Road for the Dunbrody Kiss :cloud9: It was delish :lovestruc

Awww how sweet of Tony to get you both the slipper and the castle cake  top points to him :thumbsup2
I mentioned it to DH in the hopes he might suprise me - doubt it though

Can't wait to see what you guys ate on the cruise :rotfl: I was very impressed with the food on the Wonder popcorn::

Thanks for the update

Great update -- sorry they didn't have the goat cheese, though. I'm really enjoying your dining review!:)

I ordered that cake for my daughter at the Grand Floridian last year for her birthday. We both agreed it was the best frosting we had ever had!

Bummer about the goat cheese but I'm sure you'll make up for it next time!!!

We love the Toffee Sticky pudding at RR. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!

Yet another great update! What a sweet hubby Tony is to surprise you with that yummy dessert! I wish mine would use his noggin once and a while and do something like that for me since I put so much work into planning our trip. Sorry about the goat cheese, but the ribs looked quite tasty!

I just read all of those pages of reviews and now i'm hungry! Your pics are so great and I love your commentary on everything! Nine Dragons was a restaurant that I hadn't considered prior to seeing that review.. now i'm going to have to make it fit in somewhere
:scared1:

Awwwww! Tony is so sweet! That white chocolate castle looks divine - I adore white chocolate! Yeah, yeah, I know it's not really "chocolate", but my tongue doesn't care!

I cannot WAIT to hear about the cruise - the countdown to mine is getting lower everyday!

Now were those ribs and chicken breasts appetizers and then you got a meal after> Wow. It looks like so much, but oh so good!

OK....I'm ashamed to say that only read what you've written to date tonight...I am a fan, but we have been so down since we returned on 12th June after our 17 night break that I haven't been able to face the sunshine which the Disboards offer. However, I'm thinking about next years trip now and you are providing inspiration!!

Can't wait to read more.:thumbsup2

Thanks! I know how you feel, I havent been on the boards too much lately - its so hard when your next trip is ages away.

I know what you mean about the blues when you get home :sad1: I have to fnd something to do when I'm not planning - after our trip in Sept this year we'll have 15 months til the next one (I'm not complaining but we've been spoilt in previous years), I really should get around to scrap booking our pictures

I noticed you're from Northants - we're from there too :yay:

Can't wait for the update I need a bit of food porn :lmao:

I'm with you! 15 months to go! I dont know whether to be depressed, or pleased at least I have something to look forward to!

I can't wait to get back to Raglan Road for the Dunbrody Kiss :cloud9: It was delish :lovestruc

I can't believe we didnt have room for dessert there this year! Very disappointed in myself!!

You will have to send your DH instructions on how to order the cakes!!! If you make it a little easier for them it seems to work!

Great update -- sorry they didn't have the goat cheese, though. I'm really enjoying your dining review!:)

Thanks!:thumbsup2

Well no wonder he wouldn't agree to Sci-Fi.....how sweet!!!!!:cloud9:

I know, I feel really bad as I moaned at him all morning about wanting to try somethign different!!!!

I ordered that cake for my daughter at the Grand Floridian last year for her birthday. We both agreed it was the best frosting we had ever had!

It is nice to get a little treat! The ribs were excellent - definitely the best of the trip!

I cannot WAIT to hear about the cruise - the countdown to mine is getting lower everyday!

Its even closer now!!!:cool1:

I love raglan road! :) and the cake is so pretty ..too pretty to eat. :)

I did feel bad when I destroyed it all in 10 seconds flat!

Now were those ribs and chicken breasts appetizers and then you got a meal after> Wow. It looks like so much, but oh so good!

Yup - they were appetisers!! I have seen reviews in the past saying that RR has really small portions, but we have always come away full!!!

that little castle is too darn cute :lovestruc

Isn't it adorable?!!

Am off work next week (yey!! :cool1:) so will get this all finished off then!!

Sonya, I am off work next week as well, so I can read em as you type em, fab :cool1:

Sorry you didn't have a great experience at CM. We are going to dinner and hope it is better. Seems most people don't like it lately.

I am going to Earl of Sandwich and can't make up my mind about the original or the Italian so I will have to go twice.

That sundae looks so good and I bet my kids could finish it off with no problem.

Glad you liked Nine Dragons. I have never been there but there is always a next time. Now you got me wanting Sweet & Sour Pork.

What a thoughtful husband you have, you get a slipper and a castle cake. Guess he is a keeper.:rotfl2:

How sad is that? You have been dreaming of the goat cheese for a year and they don't have any.

Can't wait to hear about your cruise. Can you believe we have never tried Earl of Sandwich, I need to google and see if they have any locations close to me in Atlanta. Your descriptions of their sandwiches make my mouth water. Great reporting Sonya, how sweet about the cake, you have a keeper in Tony!!!

If you want authentic chicken wings, then you need to come visit me in Buffalo. We are the home of the chicken wing! I always think it's so funny that the rest of the country and the world calls them Buffalo wings. No one here does. We do have a few Buffalo Wild Wing restaurants around here, but they don't come close to the real wing places. I hope you don't mind if I take a side trip:

The Anchor Bar is the originator of the chicken wing. I've never been there, but my personal favorite is Duff's. I've heard from people who have had both, and Duff's always wins hands down. I don't know if you can order them and have them shipped out, but they are SO good!

I'm from Batavia, small world! I agree, Duff's has amazing wings!

I'm also partial to Pontillo's (Batavia pizzeria)medium wings.

I WANT A MAGIC COOKIE BAR:mad:hey just out of curiosity what kind of krispy kreme doghnut was the one in the top right corner

I always love your food reports. I really appreciate the Ohana one, because I totally forgot about their banana dessert! DD10 has a severe banana allergy!

Pays to look at the dining reports!
