Your dinner at Tony's looks good! We weren't thrilled with it, but now I'm thinking we need to give it another chance...

Denise

Saw you had reviews going on from your post on the Friendies thread! You sound like you're having a blast and eating losts of great things with your daughter. I have never heard of a Butterfinger muffin, but might have to search it out on our Studios day--maybe I won't starve there after all!

OOOOOOOOH TONGA TOAST!!!! YUM!

Those salads look very good!

I literally had to sneak some of Tink's Tonga toast...she wasn't giving any up for free...LOL!

We'll be going back to DHS on Friday... I'll be sure to get one and let you know how it was... thanks for coming on over!

Hey Ang, sorry I'm late. I've been sick as a mangy dog since we got home on Saturday morning, so it was probably a good thing I canceled our squishee meet - I would have felt terrible if I'd passed this on to you or your DD. It's only bronchitis, but man is it a mean cough this time. :headache:

Anyway, I've enjoyed your reviews so far and wish you a very happy, belated birthday and a continued wonderful trip. Some day we will meet and I will treat you to a squishee for sure!

Enjoy the rest of your trip!!
I loved your reviews so far-- especially the Wave and Tony's. I am dying to try the Wave, especially since it's at the Contemporary and DBF and I love that hotel, but he's not so much into the "healthy" thing haha. Maybe if I show him your steak he'll change his mind!
We actually had a reservation for Tony's on our August trip but cancelled 2 weeks before to get Ohana (big mistake on our part). That calamari looks delish!

It ALL looks great so far!! :thumbsup2

Thanks... ready to update yesterday and so far today...

Well, keep an eye on the cough... I sent you a PM...

Oh so far, I've had 2 steaks that have been very good! you'll see the next one!!! Thank you for joining in!

Okay folks, we had a little intermission because…. I actually needed a nap! LOL! Sorry.

Up next… Capitan Cooks for some Tonga and more…

We headed over to the Polynesian for a somewhat late start to the day, and visited Capitan Cook for breakfast!

Tink had the Tonga Toast, extra potatoes (see…bread and potatoes, she’s definitely easy to figure out, huh?) She reluctantly let me have 2 bites, that’s all I got. She insisted we get more Tonga Toast later this week…maybe. She also had hot chocolate, and a water.
10-24108.jpg

I had the breakfast platter, with eggs, bacon, sausage potatoes and a biscuit. I also had hot tea and water. The eggs were very good, sausage not too greasy, bacon…exactly how I like it…crispy (almost burnt, mmmmm!) the potatoes (what I had of them, since I had to trade to get my measly 2 bites of toast) were very good.
10-24107.jpg

We went over to a very sparsely populated MK for a little while, did some rides, shopped, and people watched… then we went back to the Poly for lunch to Kona Café.

I ordered the Lapu Lapu for a starter (and did very good…I drank half!!!) Tink had the one without any booze…good for her!
10-24160.jpg

For lunch, Tink had the “Island Chicken Sandwich - Grilled chicken breast with apple-smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, curry mayonnaise, fried onions, on a Kaiser roll and served with sweet potato chips.” (without the onions and mayonnaise). She loved it, she ate it all!
10-24163.jpg

I had the “Beef Teriyaki - 10-oz sirloin strip, grilled with pineapple teriyaki glaze, pineapple salsa, sticky rice and macaroni salad.” The steak was cooked medium, and it was perfect! I love sticky rice, and pineapple salsa, and they were both good accompaniments to the steak. The macaroni salad had some spice to it, and was sweet, creamy and delicious!
10-24162.jpg

For dessert, Tink got the Kilauea Torte and I got the Chocolate Fondue. The torte was delicious, the sauce was yummy, creamy vanilla sweetness, the inside was chocolaty goodness, she all but licked the plate! The chocolate fondue was delicious! Came with pineapple, kiwi, strawberries, macadamia nut brittle and coconut macaroons…great for dipping!
10-24164.jpg

10-24165.jpg

We decided to come back to the room…this is when I took my nap! Oh well….I was tired.

We hopped a bus to DTD for some more retail therapy…good for the soul, bad for the wallet. We decided to hit WPE for some dinner.
10-24179.jpg

Tink had the BBQ chicken quesadilla, she didn’t really like it, it had onions, and she is not very partial to onions…so we asked if we could get the kids cheese quesadilla with some chicken added, and it was very good…she liked it a lot. She also got the crème brule for dessert, she really liked that a lot. She ate it on the go!
10-24180.jpg

I had the “Chicken Aioli Pocket - Freshly baked pocket bread, stuffed with chicken, melted mozzarella, chopped Romaine lettuce, roma tomato, red onion and cilantro aioli.” I really didn’t see much chicken in the mixture… or cheese for that matter. The pocket was delicious though! The chips that they give with the meal weren’t good, they were greasy and under-done. All in all, this was not a great meal, unfortunately. I had a chocolate chip toffee cookie for dessert, and it was very good.
10-24181.jpg

Next up Akershus, princess storybook breakfast…

Your breakfast and lunch sounded delicious! Sorry you didn't enjoy your dinner at WPE. I keep hearing how good the creme brulee is there; can't wait to try it!

Denise

Lunch at Kona looks incredible, thank goodness I have that booked for our big meal before MVMCP next month!

Kona's lunch looks yummy. Now can't decide if we should do breakfast or lunch there next trip. :confused3

Sorry it's been so long since I posted.... Yes, the creme brule was good, but the rest...eh.

Lunch at Kona looks incredible, thank goodness I have that booked for our big meal before MVMCP next month!

We loved Kona, the waitresses were wonderful... You'll love it!

Kona's lunch looks yummy. Now can't decide if we should do breakfast or lunch there next trip. :confused3

You can get just about the same stuff downstairs at Captain Cooks (if you're looking for Tonga, they don't have macadamia pancakes) I thought lunch was a good idea, and I'm so glad we did it!

Akershus:
It was so crowded, so we didn’t take pictures of the buffet line, is this a faux pas? Here are our plates:

Tinks and mine are very similar, so here’s mine.
10-24182.jpg

Here are the hot items: sausage (okay, not so great though), bacon (floppy, not so great either), eggs (good, but if you don’t scarf them down, they’ll get ice cold!), potato casserole (very good, cheesy, potatoey, I only got a small spoonful, tink scraped the rest onto her plate! Silly girl!)
10-24183.jpg

I liked the croissant, and fresh fruit! If you don’t count the bacon and sausage, it was a good meal!

Next: we hit the F&W booths!

Athens, Greece:
Greek Salad with pita bread… (delicious! It was a large portion, well worth the $2.75), Spanakopita… (Also delicious, crispy, not greasy at all.), and Chicken Souvlaki with Tzatziki… (very delicious! The bread was so soft, lots of tzatziki, a good sized piece of chicken.) Tink and I gave these all 5 :thumbsup2 !!!
10-24185.jpg

Cork, Ireland:

We had the lobster and scallop fisherman’s pie, it was SO good, that Tink literally drank the sauce from the little cup of pie! Lots of little scallops and pieces of lobster. It was expensive, but well worth it for the serving, I thought. We also had the Warm Chocolate Lava Cake with Bailey’s Ganache…. So good…the sauce was delicious… Tink also licked the plate on this one….LOL! We gave both of these dishes 5:thumbsup2!
10-24186.jpg

The plate licker..LOL!
10-24191.jpg

We walked around a little, and since we didn’t want to eat to much because we were going to dinner at Tokyo dining, we stopped the F&W consumption… so sad. We had tickets to see one of the demonstrations at “palmhedge” to quote Bendy… we checked in early, got our tickets, and went to hang around and shop…. We were let in, and had front row seats. The demonstration was by Chris and Aaron from the Bluezoo, and was called “Chilled Maine Lobster with Fennell, Samphire and Orange” The wine was from Twomey Cellars, it was a Sauvignon Blanc.

Here’s the chefs:
10-24192.jpg

Here’s the completed dish, lots of wonderful lobster…. The creation of this dish can’t be done in the average home, why on earth do they make dishes that the average person can’t make at home? Ridiculous in my opinion.
10-24193.jpg

We arrived at Tokyo Dining, there were a whole slew of people waiting… I thought we would be waiting for a long time, but about 5 min. after we checked in, our buzzer went off!

Tink just wanted to get something light, so she went with the Miso soup, and California roll (less the avocado). She ate all of the California Roll, but didn’t really like the Miso Soup… she said it had a funny flavor.
10-24197.jpg

I had the “Ginza Gozen - Tempura and sushi combination” which had Tempura shrimp and scallops, as well as veggies (green bean, zuchinni, sweet potato and another thing that was indistinguishable.) as well as Tuna, Yellowtail, Shrimp, and 2 pieces of California roll. I ate all but the yellowtail, I don’t like fishy fish… and it was my first time having sushi! Not bad for a beginner!
10-24195.jpg

We also had the Chocolate Ginger Cake, but forgot to take a picture of it, because it was here and gone in a flash, literally!

And because we're up and going, and I'm behind...I have yesterday's meals:

Thursday morning….

We ate at Donald’s Safari Breakfast. I will post pictures of the buffet later…here are our plates:

Tink had … can you guess? Potatoes (in two forms… puffs and home fried), as well as….bread ( pastries: chocolate croissant and mickey waffles) she also had cheese blintz with cherry and apple, but she didn’t eat it….go figure. Tink also took a nice picture of her jungle juice for you all…she loved that stuff!
10-24213.jpg

10-24214.jpg

10-24215.jpg

I had a variety of items on my plate… I tried the sweet potato, raisin and coconut casserole(good), the hash with cornbread topping(eh.), the sliced ham with spicy maple mustard(good), mickey waffle (very good), eggs, potatoes (both okay), bacon(slightly crispy, not bad), and some grapes…
10-24216.jpg

Donald’s at Tusker house didn’t disappoint. We would def. go again.

Next up: Yak and Yeti for a late lunch before heading back to the resort for swim time…

Tink had the “Pho - Lemon grass-scented broth, poached shrimp, rice noodles, and traditional Vietnamese garnishes.’…she liked it a lot. I tried it, and usually you have to mess with the flavor of the broth, but this was perfectly flavored for her.
10-24219.jpg

I had the “Shaoxing Steak & Shrimp - Skirt steak, tempura-battered shrimp, jasmine rice, stir-fried veggies, and chili plum dipping sauce” It was delicious…the veggies were good, last time we had been, the veggies were inedible. This time it was all delish! I love sticky jasmine rice, so it was perfect!
10-24218.jpg

For dessert, Tink had the sorbet (mango, lemon and raspberry), which she inhaled. Apparently it was very good, she didn’t even offer me a bite, which is okay, since….
10-24222.jpg

I had the “Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons with vanilla ice cream and honey vanilla drizzle.” I love this dessert, I dream about it…mmmm! Yummy crispy wontons with warm honey vanilla drizzle, and some vanilla ice cream to top it off! Yum!
10-24220.jpg

Next up…we are going to Sci-fi Dine In for lunch, and Biergarten for dinner, with another F&W demo in between….

Holding this spot for pics. from Donald's Safari Breakfast buffet pictures.

Great updates, Ang. :thumbsup2

And I must give credit where credit is due ... TDC Nala actually coined the term palmhenge for the F&W center demo areas. It's the perfect term for it.

Hey if a buffet is busy I never take pics of it....I like to go up when no one is around so I dont get the funny looks like this

I wish they had a Greek stand in Epcot all year, the food from the F&W booth was so amazing I could eat that every day!

Tink reminds me of my sister at that age, the only thing she would eat is potatoes, salad and bread :rotfl:

Hope you girls enjoy your last 2 days, party up a storm!

OH, sorry TDC Nala!!! It is comical though, to see heads peeking through the palm leaves!

I know...I wish there were a greek stand on the street corner in my town! LOL! I did get some pics of Biergarten today, but not with too many people in them... Tink is def. a bread and potato girl... you'll see some more bread and potato coming up!

I've got a darn cold...started a couple days ago as a cough, now it's full blown sinuses... lovely huh? I'm not letting it stop me though... Dayquil works wonders!

Okay… So, we mosey’d on over to Hollywood Studios for some more ride/food action…

Since I had seen the Butterfinger Cupcake, I knew we had to try one… well… we did:
10-30001.jpg

Here’s the before and cut in ½ (so you can see the creamy frosting and filling inside the cupcake…
10-30003.jpg

I would recommend this cupcake to ANYONE who needs a sugar fix and quick! It was so sweet, I couldn’t finish my 1/3 of it!

We also had a couple waters and this big cinnamon roll…mmm good!
10-30002.jpg

We watched the HSM show, went on a few rides, and then went to lunch at Sci-fi.

I had the Mixed Greens Salad, which was salad greens, chopped (diced) tomatoes and a lot of ranch dressing (when I say a lot, I mean a lot, if there were more lighting in the place I would’ve refused the salad…bleck, it was like my greens were literally swimming in ranch dressing. Not appealing at the least, sad actually.
10-30004.jpg

I also had onion rings, I was looking forward to these, because from other reports they were supposed to be not greasy, and crispy delicious. Well, mine must have been at the bottom of the batch, because they were crispy, but very very greasy. Again, not appealing at all.
10-30005.jpg

Tink had the Italian chicken sandwich, which was grilled chicken topped with bruschetta and some sort of cheese. She ate it all, but all I hear now is that her stomach hurts, and she thinks it was the fruit salad she had for dessert, but I have my suspicions about this sandwich. Who knows?
10-30006.jpg

Tink’s fresh fruit salad for dessert:
10-30007.jpg

We walked around, rode some, shopped some, and then took the boat over to Epcot for our long awaited, exciting food and wine demonstration!!!! We saw this guy:
10-30010.jpg

Andrew Zimmern (host of Bizarre Foods, on the Food Network…one of my FAV. Shows!) Doesn't he look more distinguished with a beard and moustache?

He made “Sweet and Sour Bangkok Style Quail with Red Chiles” It was absolutely delicious! It was night and day between his presentation and the guys from Bluezoo, but after all, he’s much more experienced in front of groups and cameras…so it was absolutely wonderful! His dish was something that we could take and make at home, which in all was very worthwhile. What a nice guy! After the show, we went for the book signing… OH…and I almost forgot…our pairing with this wonderfully sweet and spicy dish was… Rosa Regale… (Hey Bendy!!! Rosa IS delicious! )
10-30008.jpg

10-30009.jpg

We walked around the world some more, stopped at first aid for Tink to get some Mylanta, which she whined and complained about taking, since she had taken some meds that were similar and had made her sick…. I don’t think it worked though, she’s still getting stomach pains now… we’ll have to have it checked out if it doesn’t go away by Sunday.

We then went to Germany to Biergarten… I will post pictures of the buffet on a separate post, but here are our plates, mine’s the only plate I had and I sampled everything that looked appealing to me: (and I’m sorry, but I can’t remember everything I ate…lol! That’s what I get for piling food on my plate huh?) It was all delicious, but the chicken schnitzel was a little dry, and crisp.
10-30019.jpg

Tink had potato leek soup, oven baked potatoes, potato salad, pretzel bread, Spaetzle.
10-30020.jpg

Tink also had this plate for dessert which was berry compote with vanilla cream on top, she also had chocolate cake.
10-30021.jpg

We had a great time there. The food was wonderful, atmosphere was festive, and the waitresses were attentive. Would def. recommend to anyone to eat here!

We walked around some more, and while Tink was enjoying the “Romeo and Juliet” skit in Italy, I was enjoying one of these babies (Rosa Regale with 2 pieces of dark chocolate! Delicious!)
10-30022.jpg

We strolled some more and stopped at Crepes des Chefs de France, so Tink could brush up on her French and order herself (in French of course) Je voudrais une crepe au chocolat, merci beaucoup! Which she thoroughly enjoyed! (that’s a chocolate crepe for those who don’t speak French as a second/first language…) And YES she all but licked this plate too!
10-30023.jpg

Up tomorrow… trying to find some good food at AK…. Crystal Palace, maybe if the wait’s not as bad as everyone says, and MNSSHP. (Wednesday and Morticia scare the wits out of Pooh, Eyeore, Tigger and Piglet!!)
