“Bubble” - licious – A Northern Family's Disney Tale! UPDATED 8/27/09 (LAST CHAPTER)!

:scared1: LOST CAMERA!

I think you handled that whole situation well. Your girls are real troopers. I loved the photo of Ken and Natalie poking their head through the bus seats. Too cute. What a long trek but you made it safe and sound to Disney! Im happy to hear Magical Express went so quick. This will be my first year using it. My DBF of 2 years has never been to WDW and I know I will be equally excited about boarding our bus to finally show him all the fun Disney magic!

I was laughing out loud when I read that you couldn't sleep. I also can't sleep the first couple nights in WDW and I certainly can't nap! Too exciting!!! You mentioned you are only staying at the All Star Sports for one night. I'm curious where to next? Great storytelling. The photo of your kids with the Towel Mickey was cute.

I hope you don't mind but I like to respond one chapter at a time since you had so much stuff going on during your adventure! First of all, I am really impressed. You obviously planned this trip out and stayed right on time despite a blizzard and an allergic reaction to shrimp. Great attitude btw! I used to get hives when I was younger and they're no fun. I think your girls are adorable and loved the photos of the blizzard. Although I'm in Texas now, I grew up in Michigan and I love the snow. On to chapter two!

I don't mind at all on your comments chapter by chapter! Nice! :thumbsup2 We are very hearty Northerners and can withstand almost anything that crosses our path! This trip WAS well planned out! I had dreamed of it in my head and in my heart for many years! You wll have to wait and see where we end up next! I promise that it will be worth the wait! It was a great adventure full of surprises along the way! We loved ever minute of it and cannot wait to go back! Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

Great TR!
I am glad that the camera was remembered before you got on ME!
Looking forward to reading more

It was too funny! We told them to "strike a pose" and that is what they did! :lmao: I think that if she had a book, Em would have gladly curled up in that "O" for a good long read! She was very comfy! :cutie:

We were up at 3:30am to catch the shuttle from the airport! Ken and the girls had a brief nap from about 230pm until 345pm. I didn't sleep! We were in bed by about 930 that night! It was a very long day! 18 hrs on about 3 hrs of sleep! :faint:

haha, i probably could too! i love reading!

whoa! that's insane, i would never be able to do that!
i alsmost fell asleep in class because i was up for about 12 hours without sleep!

Love your trip report. When I first started reading I was afraid you were driving all the way to Orlando. :scared1: Sorry about your hives the first night. I never can sleep before I travel and that would have sent me over the edge. Now I always travel with Benadryl. Not so much for allergies, but to help me sleep.

You daughters are adorable. Really looking forward to the rest of your trip report.

And - BTW - Drivers in the US are the worst. They never slow day in rain, sleet, or snow. Headlights are optional for many drivers, although technically required when the windshield wipers are on.

I am really enjoying your trip report so far. Your girls are so beautiful. Just had to comment on the picture of you in the check-in line. Was the lady who was in front of you in line hair really that red?

popcorn:: I'm in! Great start to your northern-southern adventure!

I KNOW! I was so exhausted! Not the best way to start a vacation!

Actually, we had considered it driving the whole way! Flying won out because we didn't want the girls to miss any more school ! I will definitely be remembering benadryl on our next trip!

Yes it was really THAT red! I think they might have been from somewhere in Eastern Europe! Their check in seemed very difficult as they had broken english and so did the CM helping them!

Great so far!! Can't wait to read more!

thanks for dropping by! Stay tuned, more will be up in a day or two!

Chapter 4: Lightsabers, Legos and Dinosaurs, Oh My! Aka An evening in Downtown Disney

Date: still January 19th ! (a very long day!)
Place: Downtown Disney
Time: 430 pm

We caught a bus by 410 (we saw our luggage being delivered as we were on our way out!) and arrived by 430.

Since we had a few minutes to kill before our ADR we wandered into Once Upon a Toy. Ken and Emily immediately were force pulled over the Build your own light saber. They had been waiting for months to be able to do this together!

Nat and I wandered around just looking at stuff. Once upon a Toy is definitely a very overwhelming place to a 5 yr old!

Time was getting short so we quickly found our way to T-Rex to check in for our 5pm ADR.

We waited for maybe 5 minutes before being escorted to our table! My first impressions were VERY COOL theming and VERY LOUD!

The food was all right, nothing I would write home about though! I was still full from the pizza so I thought I would just have a salad! Well, this was no ordinary salad! It was huge! I knew from the moment it was set down in front of me that there was no way I would be able to finish it all! I did the best I could and called it good! It was good, just too big!
DSC01844.jpg

Ken had a mammoth burger and finished it off with room to spare! Sometimes I think he has a mammoth's digestive system! He isn't a huge guy but he sure can pack it away! The kids weren't able to finish their meals and in hindsight we should have had them share one meal. Oh well, you live and learn!
Overall opinion of Rainforest? Fun, though loud! Food, good but not spectacular!

Now, I had a very special meeting coming up. I was due to meet up with a good friend I had met on these boards. Jenjolt was going to meet up with us at the Lego Store at 7pm. I looked at my watch. It was only 625. OK. Have some time to waste. I led my family to the World of Disney!

HOLY COW! I could get lost in there! That place is HUGE! Making sure we each had a firm grip on a child, we all headed into the store to have a look see! Within 2 minutes the girls each had a list a mile long of things they just had to have! I couldn't blame them as my own list was becoming fairly long!

Natalie found herself a Minnie Mouse hat complete with ears and Emily found some tiny little princess clothes for her beloved little teddy bear who had come with us! I found myself a journal and headed over to the Lego store to make our meeting with Jenjolt! We still had a few minutes to wait until she was due to show up so we spent our time looking at the amazing structures that had been built with LEGO! The sea serpent is incredible!

Welcome here! :goodvibes Thanks for joining in! The more, the merrier! :thumbsup2

Im embarassed to say this but I've never explored Downtown Disney. My parents never took me there when I was a kid, and now that I'm older I prefer spending the majority of my time at the resort, the parks, or a resturant in the resort or the parks. I suppose we tend to stay with what we know right? Well your post sparked my interest in DTD. Maybe DBF and me will check it out in 11 days (so excited!). By the way, DBF is now reading your happy adventure right along with me. He was impressed with your positive attitude despite being covered in hives.
Waiting to meet a friend from the DisBoards? FUN!
