Throwaway room (read post #2041 or #2710 before posting)

I know what you are saying and that is why I allowed him to use my band for a second time on Splash Mtn. As I said in my OP, I can't say that what happened (losing our 7DMT fp+) was BECAUSE of what we did at Splash Mtn....it was just very odd and coincidental that the 7DMT passes disappeared...

Throwaway room (read post #2041 or #2710 before posting)

I can't say for certain that my experience was BECAUSE of what we did, but..... On opening day for 7DMT, we (my son and I) had fp+ for Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain and 7DMT. We rode Thunder, but since I don't do Splash I allowed my son to use my band after he rode it on his band. When he...

Animal Kingdom Park...is it worth it?

We also love AK. We DO go for only half days, but we hop and do it multiple days during each trip to WDW. Our favorites are Kali River Rapids, Safari, Dinosaur, Bug's Life, Lion King Show, Nemo Show. We are not EE riders. We also enjoy Rafiki Planet Watch. We've observed surgery on a rabbit...

Why are you a single parent?

I love that everyone is feeling so comfortable about sharing their stories here. I understand so many of you as our stories are very similar. Unfortunately, if it's not like my own....it's a lot like one of my kids'. As I've already shared, I have 4 children - 3 are grown with kids of their...

ONLY 98 DAYS!!! We are still reviewing the Port Excursions and trying to narrow down to our favorite 2-3 at each port. To those who have been on this cruise before....any pointers? thoughts? ideas for 'must dos' or 'don't dos'? I'm not really wanting to hear any negative stories unless you...

Why are you a single parent?

Glad to see there are some dads joining us!! It's great to hear about everyone's adventures and activities with their kids. My DS is currently on a trip with our Church Youth (left Monday; will return Monday). Unlike his last adventure a few weeks ago (river rafting out of state) when I took...

    Great non-Disney trips

The organization is TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors). All of the support services are for Survivors of all service members...actve, guard, retired, vets...no matter cause of death...KIA, accident, illness, suicide, homicide, etc. Most support is geared towards those whose loved...

    I'll be the first....

We will be on Fantasy for 7 night Western Caribbean cruise. Glad to hear there will be others seated with us in similar age and relationship status. So far, my Cruise Meet Thread hasn't been very active. Those who are on it are traditional and extended families...no single mom's with teen...

    Great non-Disney trips

Orlando and WDW is definitely our 'go to' place. We do a LOT of travelling throughout the year. Some is paid by others; some is paid by me. My son's father is buried in Arlington and I work for a Military Survivors support organization and we hold a National Seminar in DC every Memorial Day...

    Restaurant Help

By far, our favorite is Four Seasons in The Land (EPCOT). The roasted chicken with black beans and rice is wonderful!! And it's soooo much food. My DS (15) and I share one meal from there and are very comfortably satisfied. They also have a great dessert selection instead of just the carrot...

    Favorite WDW Restaurant...

Though there is no menu, we LOVE the food and entertainment at Hoop-dee-doo. We've been to Disney sooo many times and have only done this once. Honestly don't know why it took so long to go; but we already have our reservations for Thanksgiving week! We also MUST do 50's Prime Time and...

Why are you a single parent?

I know that OP 'warned' that this may be a bummer subject; but I want to applaud all who have shared their stories. There's something to be said for opening your hearts and trusting others when you share your personal experiences. For me, I was married in '79 and had 3 kids (DS 35, DD 27, DD...

What do you do for mom or dad time?

Because my youngest son's (15) schedule with school, band, scouts, church, etc is so hectic and full 12 months a year (there's NO summer break for band!), I don't have the opportunity to do much other than go with him to 'stuff' and be his transportation. My oldest is 35; so by the time I'm an...

    I'll be the first....

I have really enjoyed reading all of your stories. I've been divorced for 20 years and have 3 kids from marriage -- DS 35; DD 27; DD 25. All of them have families of their own. Actually, both daughters are currently pregnant (due in September and November) with my 5th and 6th grandbabies. I...

What special things do you do before you go to Disney/DCL

We are going on Fantasy (Western Caribbean) in November followed by 9 days in parks (staying off site). This is our first cruise, so just trying to learn what we can do. My DS (15) and I are only ones travelling. He's excited about it; but prefers to not be heavily involved in the planning...

Information from http://www.wdwinfo.com/transportation/monorail.htm . (Based on last few monorail posts in this thread, though, it appears that the shutdowns may be at different times than those listed here.) Operating hours: Adjusted hours for refurbishment - The Express beam (between the...

Thread for People staying off site

I always figure about 30 minutes from entrance into the MK parking lot until we scan our bands to enter the park. It really depends on how busy the monorails and ferry are. They get a LOT of ppl on each monorail in the mornings and they arrive pretty quickly; so, even if you are at the bottom...
