Thank you! I'll add the city tour to our list! We'll have 5 nights at Wailea Beach Villas and 5 nights at Grand Hyatt Kauai so I do feel comfortable that we'll have our "resort" type down time on those islands. We're coming from the EC so putting Oahu on the front end to focus on Pearl Harbor seemed to make the most sense. @iujen94 has been most helpful with activity recommendations and island order!

The Hyatt Concierge actually recommended the Regency since she was assisting with the other two reservations so I'm appreciative of another recommendation to choose it. Ko'Olina looks like it's coming off the list anyway since there appears to be no point availability for our dates. And Turtle Bay seems too far out.

Back when I went the hotel transfer included a free breakfast if you wanted to go listen to them try and sell you on tours. I was a poor college student so I went. Met a nice pair of sisters I think it was and the one's like 4 yo son. They'd rented a car and invited me to join them when they went to the dole plantation and then up to a beach near turtle bay. It was a fun day but a long day since it's at the other side of the island. Somewhere in a box I habe the little stuffed gecko the boy got me. We kept in touch for a little bit after.

Wow, how I miss the SW loophole. After today’s snow and wind, I bit the bullet and booked ridiculously priced flights for President’s Day weekend to Orlando. Oh, and we get to go to RI to come back to BWI but it was either $136 or $338. Thank goodness for AmEx airline credits. Staying at the HR Orlando for the 1st time. Looks like the club lounge is open so that will be nice.

Interesting start to 2022. I had a bad car wreck Saturday night and am laying in the hospital with 2 broken legs. Need some SUB and spend advice.

Going to have my max out of pocket medical cost. I think 6 or 7k. Then, I will also have a down payment on a new vehicle. Bc of current car market and interest rates, I am breaking my normal advice and I think I will buy a new car and finance at least some of it.

I am at 6/24. Off the top of my head, I have AMEX Platinum, Sapphire Preferred, AMEX Hilton Surpass, AMEX Marriot Business, Chase British Airways, Chase Rapid Rewards Priority, Chase Disney Visa (the lower one), Chase Southwest Business (lower one), Barclay's Wyndham Business Earner, and just recently signed up for I think it was a Barclay's American Airlines card (specific American Airlines flight in October was the reason).

Any advice on 1. What cards with good SUBs I should target at 6/24. 2. Go for business cards? 3. Is there a way to negotiate with car dealers on most credit card payment ability (leaning toward Subaru Outback). 4. Any general advice?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sorry to hear about your accident, but nice to hear you can focus on sign up bonuses!

I'm not the one to recommend a card these days. I'm sure others will have some knowledgeable ideas. Maybe an Amex Business Platinum wouldn't add to your 24 count.

As far as car down payments the most I've been able to put on a credit card is $5000.

Get better soon!

So sorry! Hope you mend quickly.

Most car dealers, especially now, aren't going to negotiate. They've got their policies and that's it. How much you'll be able to put down with them on a CC varies greatly by dealer. Some won't take a CC at all, some will only due small amounts, some will cap by % and a very few will have someone so stupid they'll let you put the whole thing on a Plat.

Have you stayed at the HR Orlando before? It looks very nice! DH and I have a cruise booked out of Miami leaving 2/26 and I'm trying to make backup plans incase that falls through for some reason. I'm hoping by then things will have settled down, but who knows.

We were thinking about spending a few days going to spring training games around West Palm Beach and I had looked at the Orlando Hyatt Regency just to chill out for a few days. We are not globalists, but I have some upgrades to club level that I could use there.

If you are trying to get below 5/24 for future Chase cards, then sticking to business cards would make the most sense. One option is the US Bank Business Leverage credit card. It's essentially a $750 SUB (75,000 points redeemed at 1 cpp for a statement credit on travel expenses) for $7,500 spend with no annual fee the first year ($95 the second year). I always like free money SUBs.

Other than that I always recommend Amex for making the best use of large organic spend. If you're unconcerned with 5/24 and have not had the Charles Schwab variant of the Plat card, then consider opening a Schwab High Yield Savings Account (which comes with a Schwab One brokerage account) with $100 and after its set up applying for the CS Plat (still at 100,000 MR for 6k spend, plus 10x Shop Small up to $25,000).

So sorry about your accident. Make sure you do physical therapy as much as you can afford. You will be surprised how much muscle wasting there will be in a short time.
As for the cards, I'm not as much help there. I did buy a new car a year ago, while not exactly current market, it was pandemic and I was able to negotiate price a bit and get the interest rate down to 0%. I got multiple quotes online before going into any showroom. They only allowed $1000 downpayment on cc. I am a Subaru person, have had multiple versions. Currently driving a Forester which I love. The new version has a ton of tech & safety stuff I had to get used to but overall very happy with it. DH prefers the Outback styling but I like the Forester for a bit more cargo room (at least in the version we have). Good Luck.

Wow. Interesting start to say the least. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
How about Capital One VentureX. Sounds like you'd meet the $10K spend relatively easy.

I just did(tried to change my method of payment for door dash) it made no difference maybe I need to try after my Expiration date: 1/30/22

I have done it in the past on 3 cars I got everyone against each other and bid the lowest price (all over email) then I kept pushing for the most cc spend, tesla only waived the delivery fee for me they didn't care :) but in the past, i was able to pull it off not sure if they are like this now but I won't buy anything, not EV going forward (not trying to debate this this is my opinion). Sucks you cant get this MR is this case but I was able to do it at VW/AUDI and Toyota you just have to push maybe not now but when the dust settles on these shortages.

Edit most places capped me at 10-15k not all of it but better than 0.

I was never able to pull off that check trick that that one guy did for points on his blog guess I didn't find loop holes :)

Will the Door Dash auto charge us on the 31st, or just expire?
when I saw this on Reddit it auto charges,(the same thing with the uber eats pass as far as I remember) the problem is it canceled that date since I don't think I'm going to use it for 12 days I canceled it if I end up using it I can reactivate and it puts my date as 1/31 (this is what happened when I tried to enter my Hyatt card) so I have a reminder to check 2/1 I have a gut feeling it's one per account maybe I need to start another door dash with a different email I'm not sure.

Edit it may be one per address also ill find out when my reminder hits, but just changing the MOP did not work for me.

We have a 2.5 hours layover at SLC airport, we are flying Delta. DH and I each have a Amex Plat, which gives us entry into the Delta Sky lounge, anyway to get our daughters in?

I just bought a new CR-V last week. I’m in a pretty competitive market (ATL), so I hired someone that friends had worked with/recommended to negotiate for me. I paid him $500. Initially, the dealership was asking for $5k over MSRP, and I ended up “only” paying 1.3k over MSRP. Was very hard to stomach, but there are very, very few cars with the features I wanted - and I knew that if I said no, I didn’t have a better deal to turn to.

I don’t know what Subaru inventory looks like right now. If they’re somewhat plentiful, then I would reach out to dealers to see what their CC policy is. My hands were tied and only one dealer in a 200 mile radius had the car I needed, so I could only put their max of 2.5k down.

Since I know you all love pets and babies, I need to share our newest (sorry no babies just dogs). Unfortunately unable to apply adoption fees or most of the supplies to MSR, but I did manage to put $250 on SW card for new gate and crate. D3225934-F08C-4FBE-B196-AEE0238B94A8.jpeg
