Do you think DVC should be a little more open to people moving dates without penalty because of corona?

Oh, I expect an announcement from WDW about closing the parks imminently.
Florida currently has 34 cases compared to California that has 198 cases. Most of the Florida cases are related to a river cruise on the Nile River. Most of the Florida cases are in Broward County.

We have a trip scheduled for April 16-18 for the Star Wars 5k. My Use Year is June, so even if I cancel, I am not sure I could use them before the end of May. I know that this is the risk of traveling late in your use year. I don't know what I will do. I will try to call tomorrow to see if they can do anything.

I got through to MS using the ‭(407) 566-3800 number rather than the 1-800 number. About 55 minutes on hold. The CM didn't hesitate when I said I had a WDW reservation in the next 30 days and wanted to change because of the pandemic. She calculated what I had from each contract and UY, cancelled the reservation, and released points from holding in under 10 minutes. I have an Oct UY and she did mention my 2018 banked points need to be used by 9/30 (which was expected). I am very happy considering DVC didn't have to do anything for me!

I am not sure what to do. Since they announced the closure of the California Resort, should I assume the closure of WDW Resort? Our flight is suppose to go out on March 29th and return on April 3rd. I have the flight ins, but not the DVC ins. also have $600 in Disney gift cards that were bought for food and souveniers. sigh

No one knows. I arrive the same day. I am waiting to Change when and if they close, Jetblue has already said they will change flights for free

I am at a loss. I really can’t believe all of this is happening. I go to WDW quite often (was just there last weekend) but I almost always go with my mom and kids. My April trip is with my DH and kids. I’ve been planning this trip for a year. It’s our first trip using our own DVC points since becoming members last year. We’re booked April 10-17. I don’t know what to do. I almost hope WDW closes so the decision is made for me. I hate being in limbo.

On the news and rumors board, they just updated stating that WDW will be closing the parks, but resorts and Disney Springs are remaining open. Very disappointing, but we still plan to stay at the resort. Checking in on Sunday. If they close the resorts between now and the time we check in, will we get compensated for the lost points? What if they close DURING our stay?

Hi guys. I’ll be contacting David’s tomorrow but was curious for curiosity’s sake (while I sit here waiting impatiently in limbo), what you would do as a member if you had rented out your points in a situation like this.

Don’t worry, I know it doesn’t change what David’s or our member will be willing to do here, and I also know they aren’t really obligated to help.

I arrive 3/21. We’re not going. I hope the points can go back and not into holding. So much for that 2 bedroom value AKL. Sigh.

Going to be very interesting to see how this all plays out with DVC since the resorts are staying open.

Has anyone actually talked to DVC Member Services today? We have BWV booked 3/21-27, I have not been able to get thru to find out options nor can I get thru to the dining line. All my dining in My Disney Experience now says I have to call to cancel - even though I'm over a week+ out still.

I was unable to get through tonight. The line was busy until 9 then I got the offices closed message. I guess I’ll be calling at work. I have cash rooms booked for my in laws and can’t get through there either. This is a mess.

It is irresponsible to announce the closing and not send messages out to DVC members who have rooms booked and clearly communicate to resort guests. It is saying some events may be non-refundable if they are not offered when you rebook your resort reservation to new dates.

I knew they were going to close WDW because the majority of the cases in Houston are from some Nile cruise as well. It may be the same one. They’ve closed all the schools here for 2 weeks even though there’s less than 20 cases in the 4th largest city in the country. It was just a matter of time before they shut down the parks.

And there are others who were complaining that it was irresponsible of Disney Parks to stay open. The leadership has to prioritize decisions and communications. They can’t do everything all at once. So yes, it is an inconvenience that they weren’t able to give advance notice and/or full details of the process, but I can’t call it irresponsible. I truly believe they are doing the very best they can under the circumstances.

I take shots at Disney all the time, but they only have so many employees that can address something that only even become a possibility within the last 48 hours.

Personally, with this situation, if I could rebook the person for at least some of the nights will the same points, I would be willing to try,

But, sometimes that won’t be an option since the points used for the original rental may not be valid for a stay when the renter might want or be able to go,

But, I think that, unfortunately, most renters who don’t have insurance that will cover this, will be out of luck

Well, it looks like realty has hit and with the closing of the parks, my group is not going. Boohoo,

I tried to do things online but it didn’t work the way I thought it might, I know MS holds will be crazy and my trip isn’t until March 29th so I sent an email instead asking for them to cancel and waive holding so I can reuse points for August,

I figured it was worth a try instead of being on hold for an hour or more tomorrow!

I have never used the email before. I sent the message should you get an email confirming they received it. I have not got one. My reservation starts Saturday and I am trying to figure out what I should do.
