I think I am going to transfer some of my Membership Rewards points to Delta. Anyone recall if there has been any transfer bonuses from MR's to Delta Skymiles relatively recently that I should hold out for? As much as I can tell the last time there was something was 2011...but that could obviously be old information since it is from a 2014 post.

I don’t think they do DL transfer bonuses or at least they haven’t in the past 3-4 years I’ve been doing this. There is a small charge $0.0006/mile max of $99 or you can also use MRs for the fee to transfer the miles. I know you’re sort of over Amex but living in SLC I think this is a good idea for you (apologies for unsolicited advice😕).

Did I miss the discussion of the nerfing of the Barclays Uber? I got an email about the changes earlier today and just now had time to read. Big discussions about the card on Slick Deals and r/Churning too.

I will no longer suggest this card to people. In fact, I think I will just cancel mine. I have enough sock drawer cards as it is.

Yeah, I shared my thoughts here: https://www.disboards.com/threads/i...t-page-for-addl-details.3729982/post-61214208

I don’t suppose many of us here have this card so it hasn’t generated much discussion, but it was a good option for some people. I also cannot in good conscience continue to recommend this card with the new changes.

The Residence Inn is nice but more points and generally more expensive than most other hotels. If being downtown is important to you, it's a great choice. We usually stay out by the mall. The Hyatt Place is very nice. That has become our favorite and is very reasonable on points. I think it was 12K points but the cash value on a game weekend exceeds $300. When the cash value is lower, I look at UR points. We've also stayed at the Courtyard, Fairfield and Towne place suites which were all fine.
There was a Sheraton that was pretty decent (4 Points). I know out by Webers there's a new Hampton Inn.

Thanks for the Ann Arbor hotel suggestions. We (I) picked the Residence Inn so we wouldn't have to deal with parking near campus but it's not essential (and certainly not essential enough to pay actual $ for, when I could use points somewhere else). We are currently booked at a Hilton for the next visit (maybe the last chance to get some benefits from my Aspire before I maybe cancel it).

All-Clad runs "factory seconds" sales periodically to sell wares that may have minor cosmetic damage but nothing that would impair its performance. You can find some pretty significant savings off retail during these sales. However, all sales are final. I’ve bought a few pieces from these sales and have been satisfied with the discounted price vs. quality/condition. The next one is scheduled for November 4-6.

It also seems there’s a sale on packaging damaged items, where the product is flawless but the box is damaged:

Thanks so much! I certainly don't think I'd mind getting one of these. DH will complain if I do, though, because we have no room left for anything in our little kitchen. I'll still be checking it out, though, because how can I not? My cousin lives in the city and found one of those tiny butter warming pans at a chef's store on clearance and gave it to me. I have way too many pans!

Mine is Wed! The big 4-0!

I cook everything in nonstick, although we need a new set (had the same set for probably 15 years). Why are you so opposed to it? I love how easy it is to clean, plus I just use a light spray of Pam to cook with to not add extra fat/oil.

Sometimes the coating gets scratched and it flakes off. They used to say that there was a cancer connection, but now that has been deemed false. At the same time, the coatings give of PFOA which is a carcinogen when heated to high temps. I have birds in the house and overheated nonstick gives of fumes that can be toxic to birds. So, since I am quite confused about all the dialogue over the years with regard to nonstick, I've chosen to reduce my usage to just cooking eggs.

I've also found that nonstick doesn't give me the sear I want on steaks or meat that I wish to brown quickly when I'm cooking. I find cast iron and stainless do a better job. And, I'm probably the only one in the country who has never purchased a can of Pam. My daughter has, but I never use it. I prefer olive oil and butter. In moderation of course.

Thx for the explanation! If nothing else I have a good reason to tell DH to stop cooking everything on high!

ummmm... lots of reasons.... health related. I don't want to start any controversy, and it's really easy to google this kind of info, but the coating is extremely unhealthy, esp. at high heats.

They are nice and polite young boys but still needy and you will spend the entire flight getting snacks, more soda more snacks, figuring our their wifi connection, why their headphones aren't working - gotta clean out the ear wax, getting up to let them go to the bathroom, finding their dropped pen or pencil, just as you got them settled now they need to go to the bathroom, etc.
My 10 yo is the same. Maybe some 10 yo are more mature, mine is not. I’m ok with that.
this is from experience.... they won't ask a child to wait and board alone, just bring them with you and the little one. Even if your dh is there. In the past, regular boarding,I had an earlier number than my son who was about 11-12 and I didn't even ask but they told him to get on with me rather than wait alone. No worries it'll be fine. SWA is way scarier sounding online than IRL. Worst case scenario I ever saw was a family getting on AFTER all the c's (don't know why they were so late) and announcing over mike that they weren't leaving until someone moved, allowing a young kid to sit with mom. What I'm saying is don't worry, bring your kids on when you board. that includes carseat kids in family boarding.
We’re you on my flight? That happened on our flight earlier this year. Mom, dad and 2 or 3 kids. FA said we’re not leaving until kids are seated with at least one parent. She gave out drink coupons but then just stood there until someone volunteered.
The highest I've ever had is A7 or A8, personally.
When using the upgraded boarding?
I do know there will be a staging lot for taxis & rideshare drivers, with pickup on Ground Level just outside Baggage Claim. Unless things change drastically, I wouldn't expect an extensive walk to meet either a shuttle or rideshare because the new terminal isn't that much larger than the current one. I'll be able to give a first person report come January (praying that all of the kinks have been worked out in that time!)
Thanks !
Yikes on the swimsuit. I can see that being such a unique thing it would be hard to find.
Especially in October in Michigan. Lol. Same kid also left swimsuit at hotel when they went on a snorkeling trip in Greece. You think they’d learn. :rotfl2:
I didn't even know this was a thing. We've never had anything in escrow since we closed on the house many years ago. Our property taxes come out twice a year (sometimes we just pay it all at once), and our homeowners insurance is just once a year. Or is there something about this I'm missing? I've never heard of it being lumped in with the mortgage payment.
Some mortgage companies/banks require it, especially if you have a lower down payment. Others will let you pay taxes or insurance yourself but charge you a fee to remove them from escrow. We bought our first house 29 years ago and it was required then.
I have every confidence that *most* 5 and 6 yo's could board by themselves but what if the flight is filled and they cannot sit with their parents? You really want kids that young sitting by themselves?
Ha ha. I have no confidence a 5 or 6 year old can board by themselves. I have seen the kindergarten lines and the teachers trying to keep them orderly. Like herding cats.

I absolutely agree that it should be parents and their children only.

However, I disagree about lowering the age to 4. I have every confidence that *most* 5 and 6 yo's could board by themselves but what if the flight is filled and they cannot sit with their parents? You really want kids that young sitting by themselves? Like I posted earlier, I don't mind my teens sitting by themselves or my dh & I splitting up, but our boys should be sitting with a parent.

Btw, not all kids that age go to school. Here in CO, compulsory age for school is 7.

I guess I thought that family boarding was for those that need extra help or time. Like car seats and strollers and stuff. To give them extra time. My family likes to sit together even though my kids are older so I purchase Early Bird check in for all of us to guarantee that. Just frustrating when I pay $100 each way and then 30-40 people get to go ahead of you.

I think if my kids were younger I would embrace the family boarding I know its not going to change and I still love Southwest. And the main location with so many families is of course Orlando where we fly to the most.

I agree it is great for those with young kids. Just venting I guess. Especially when you see the people that abuse it and dont have any young children or they allow extended family and friends to get in line also.

I had an amex offer for 10% off an insurance bill up to $10. I owe Geico $200 for adding DD's car. Was hoping the kids also had the offer and I'd split the payment but only I had it.

Got this offer too on my personal. Was hoping to get it on the business as well. But that's okay I'll just put $100 of my bill on it.

Best Buy sent out mystery rewards check your email. Figure I’ll use mine towards a movie for xmas too bad these don’t work with gc anymore.

Also got this. I'm sure mine is going to be a minimal amount so will just put it towards a movie or something too.
