Okay, coming out of Michigan lurkdom to say that one of my kids is in grad school there and we could not believe how many people were at that game in that weather. Kudos to your DH and DD.

Also curious, what hotels there are good for points? We stayed at the Residence Inn near downtown once but I don't think that's going to work out again unless I can manage to get another Bonvoy card next year to get some more points.

There was a Sheraton that was pretty decent (4 Points). I know out by Webers there's a new Hampton Inn. I went to UM and taught in A2 for 11 years. There was no question that the stands would be packed. Have to laugh when I saw how little were at the MSU game once the second 1/2 started. I've only seen ONCE where Michigan looked like that. It was after a rain delay and we were losing pretty bad.

I debated going to the game for my bday. But I was happy to watch it from home w/ a fire going instead, LOL.

OMG....it remained me of my first trip to New Orleans and I was in my early 20ties - shorts, brief tshirt and knee socks. I don't know what I was thinking but there's a picture around somewhere to prove it.

I actually forgot about the weather factor and that people get cold up north. And had no clue who the costume was so thanks for filling me in!

Yeah it was a balmy 40ish degrees walking to and from the parking garage and bar like that! Brrrr. LOL.

And for reference....here's Brit in it ;)

I flew by myself at 8 and was fine. My brother would have been lost in the airport had my parents let him fly alone at 8 :rotfl2:Every kid is different and FWIW I think its better to let kids and parents board together until at least 10, I think I’m just too anal to not have an assigned seat haha
My ds flew alone this past summer at 10yo but we had to pay an 'unaccompanied minor' fee (range anywhere from $50-150, depending on airline) so that he could be taken on first (even before preboards), sat in front row and basically babysat by a FA.

Just called AmEx retention and accepted a 15k MRs for $2k in spend offer. I was planning to keep the card anyhow and have at least 4 trips already planned to Safeway so $2k will be easy.

ETA: I now need to call about the Plat. That is the harder one to justify keeping.

Wow, I've fallen behind. But my previous reading issue that translated @LilSweetPeaPhoto into Lil Sweet Pea Hot Pot should have been Lil Sweet Pea Hottie! Congratulations- you look great!

I did have a question for the Hilton Biz Amex holders.

I got my SUB points as I posted last week. When I go to my HH account, it shows the various bonus points in bonus categories, but not each individual purchase that falls into each category. Does anyone know if there's a specific way to see which transactions posted as which category?

448324

ETA: Did I read upthread that someone had a FN cert on this card? (The Amex Hilton Biz)? That would have been a nice additional perk! I am bummed I missed that one!

@wendow post 9/11 regs maybe? They threw me in the back of the plane! No one watched me at all haha This new system does sound better!
I flew alone at 7yo (on SWA), sat in the back and no one watched me at all either lol.

Now, you are an “unaccompanied minor” if flying by yourself until 15yo, iirc. I was surprised the age went so high. About 11-12 makes more sense to me. My ds was escorted on first and taken off first. Person picking up had to show ID. Person dropping had to remain at the gate until plane was airborne. All the oversight definitely helped put me at ease as I was a bit nervous for him to fly alone.

I need to call about my plat too. I really can’t justify keeping it. In some ways I want to just cancel so I’m not tempted. I do not need a $550 AF right now!

I flew alone at 7 or 8 on Northwest Orient from MSP to ORD. I was put on first but had to wait to be one of the last ones off. A FA took me up the jetway and tried to stop me from running to my grandparents. Then she made them produce ID before we could leave. I'm fairly sure this would have been summer of '89.

Ok Sea World people, just to check, staying at one of the official partner hotels gets you Quick Que. Is that like a skip the line once per ride, or unlimited times?

Heads up for anyone going to Universal now through the end of 2019 - you get 10% off your qualifying merchandise purchase of $75 or more at Islands or Studios with any Amex card. You have to show the Amex coupon code in the Universal app. Not valid at locations in Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade, or for purchases of tobacco, “collectibles”, books, movies, or CDs. I know plenty of HP merch is available in the big Universal souvenir shops so that might be a way around the exclusion of the WWoHP stores.

Maybe this is old news but I am so happy to have an excuse to buy a Ravenclaw robe on my solo weekend trip in 3 weeks :D

Thanks for the reminder. I used this offer in mid-2017 but am heading back in December.

Mine's all clad, too. Love them, and they look as nice as when we got them (wedding gifts) many years ago. My non-stick (yes, they are for eggs and pancakes) ones have needed to be replaced a few times. I just keep my eyes open for deals on the little omelet pans since I still like to buy all clad but the nonstick ones are really expensive considering they don't last forever.
I buy the Tramontina pro grade nonstick small fry pans for eggs. I have a couple of non stick all clad that I use for pan cakes, if we ever make them but it's been years. I do make waffles occasionally with the Waring non stick waffle iron. Costco doesn't sell my stockpiled Tramontina any more - they sell the less expensive ones, which are okay but the Pro line was very good quality. I see Amazon has them. I should note that I never use higher than a medium heat with nonstick.
High heated needed = stainless steel or cast iron.

We did that recently and it was once per ride but some staff didn’t mark it off so you could technically ride those again. For the most part they mark it so you can only ride once

cookware? glad you asked! :rotfl2: seriously OT again but Iove my kitchenware.... I use either cast iron or old 1970's era Revereware exclusiv3160ely.....can't beat a well seasoned cast iron skillet for eggs or whatever, ours sits on the stove and never gets put away.... and the old rRvereware with copper bottoms..... oh it's magical, it never wears out! nonstick surfaces y'all....:crazy2::scared1::faint: so many better choices out there! Oh, I also use my instant pot a million times a week,I love that the liner is stainless steel,I've noticed some of the 'off' brands don't have that. I tried some ceramic ware nonstick stuff but that lasted about a minute before it was destroyed,so back the old standbys! Ok I'll stop now.....
I have the revere ware with the copper bottoms also and Farberware that is about 40 years old, but my daughter has grabbed a few pieces from me although she bought a full set of All Clad from Williams Sonoma using thank you points. (credit card related). And confession time - I not only have stainless All Clad, I have a 10 piece copper set which I don't use and I can't stand cleaning them.
