Hurricane Irma?

I'm also curious about the hoarding of supplies.

I was six months pregnant during a huge ice storm up here that had power out in large areas for literally weeks. I myself was without power for 11 days. Know what there was no shortage of within 12hrs after the storm passed? Food and water.

The hurricane, if it hits, is not going to last for days. It's going to last for hours. By the next day, cars and trucks should be able to be on the road (obviously I'm not talking about coastal areas which could flood, but middle of the state/Orlando) and stores will be full again.

All the hurricanes I've been in have not been over in hours. They do last for days, (the effects anyway) and there has been shortages of water and ice especially, for days. Depending on severity and clearing roads, deliveries have also been delayed of gas and other supplies. And, no, not from flooding, but wind.

its not pointless. I'm not telling anyone what they should do, nor what is safe and what is not. I'm simply presenting the current data for those who need to make a decision NOW regarding what information we have available to us. for those of us who can wait longer to change things, then today is irrelevant.

FYI nothing is updated in real-time. the best data comes out around 2am est and 2pm est. everything in between is a bit of a wash, and even the in between data updates every six hours

LOL. Like I said, that's fine. Whatever makes you feel big and important. The point is, people can find this information without your help, and unless you plan on regurgitating this data every hour or 6 hours or whenever, you are not as helpful or useful as you think you are.

This is the only spaghetti image that anyone should be sharing, especially here :) :

As someone who is now leaving at 4 in the afternoon on Saturday this makes me feel good about my decision.

As someone who was leaving at 4 in the afternoon on Sunday, this makes me think I may have been able to pull it off.

We are supposed to arrive in Orlando Friday morning and fly back to Chicago MOnday night..

I guess it's time to cancel, huh??/ :(:guilty::guilty::guilty::guilty::guilty:

Is it worth coming for a night only for you? Friday morning to Saturday night?

Although I watched something today that said MCO could shut down with 35mph sustained winds, so that may happen even sooner than Sunday. I'm sure you made a great call!

Maybe, maybe not. That is simply a projection and remember that the plot of the hurricane is intended to be the location of the eye only. The storm wraps around the eye for up to 100-200 miles, so if that projection is correct, 4pm Sunday would have been dicey at best. Saturday at 4 is much more likely to be the better solution given that projection. Good luck.

been reading this thread for a couple of days now and its driving me nuts, I leave for wdw on Wednesday hopefully all is well by then
but people need to just keep an eye on this, they still have no clue where its going to hit, might miss fla might not, right now its tracking west. hopefully it keeps tracking west and only touches fla, for all you dooms day people out there even if it does hit wdw its not like hotels will be blown over and im pretty sure the castle will still be standing,
and as far as people feeling bad or disappointed about having to cancel their trips you have every right to feel that way, don't feel guilty, takes a lot of time money and effort to plan a Disney trip, so if your worried about disappointing your kids that fine, if they are young they don't understand that a huge hurricane is coming and people are in danger, all they know is they aren't gonna see mickey, id be devastated if I had to tell me 3 yr old we couldn't go anymore
as for everyone else be safe and my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who will be affected by this b*tch of a storm
God bless

Exactly. And power won't be restored or supplies restocked or stores reopened until that passes. Been through countless major storms & the worst part is always after the storm.

I didn't post the 6z and 18z models like I did the 12z did I? No. I'm posting the reliable information from 00z and 12z. Every 12 hours. If it was so easy for everyone to find, then people would quit asking and figure out their own plans without needing to post here.

I love the fact that you guys post the updates here. I'm not in WDW or going to WDW however I just recently moved to Tallahassee from Wisconsin, as in a month ago. Hurricanes were the least on my mind, hell I had to spend almost $500 registering a car and getting our Driver's license, my partners car's alternator took a dive, and the battery itself was old so there was another $500, my Beetle just today went in for it's 30,000 mile service, thats another $300, and I'm being told the Salt n Snow back home has corroded my rotors so they recommend replacing those, another $402. This doesn't even include the moving expense or the fact that my house back home hasn't sold yet! Now I got a hurricane to worry about and every cost that incurs None of this is your problem, but you guys are whats keeping me updated as I'm in waiting rooms and checkout lines.

I've been playing with that Ventusky website just because it works the best on my iPhone. I don't like when you guys post a URL cause my phone likes to lose its place then here as to what post I just was reading. I understand things change and info on page 1 is way out of date compared to page 110. So post away those animated GIFs, keep me informed! I started feeling a sense of relief that it won't be THAT bad by me so long as she stays out of the Gulf as of Yesterday evening. Will I get wind and rain, yes, but I'm not expecting the worst of the worst over here right now, things will may change as those little GIFs get posted. I VOTE POST THOSE UPDATES!

Yeah exactly what I'm thinking!

I would say that within the margin of error 4pm Saturday is still dicey but leagues ahead of 4pm Sunday. If you making your choice today, that's the best educated guess we have right now

JetBlue, American, Delta cap ticket prices out of Florida ahead of Hurricane Irma

JetBlue (JBLU) is capping its ticket prices in every city in Florida where the airline operates so people can evacuate as Hurricane Irma barrels through the Caribbean.

JetBlue will charge a maximum of $99 up to the last available seat for direct flights and a maximum of $159 up to the last available seat for connecting flights, a JetBlue representative told Yahoo Finance. That includes government taxes.

The airline has also added flights to its schedule out of select cities where they have aircraft available.
