My partner and I are planning to travel light, just using cargo pockets for our stuff, so we don't have to go through the baggage check line. This service sounds promising, but how does the speed of bypassing security compare to just going through security without bags? We would be park hopping of course, so it would be for mid-day/evening crowds, vs. park opening crowds. If it's significantly faster even without carrying bags, I think we'd like to use it.

You (and everyone) still has to go thru the metal detectors.. which takes time. Also, "I've heard" but have no personal experience that bulging cargo pockets have been examined... so they may ask you to go thru the bag line after all.

I think it depends on the parks you are hopping and also keep in mind that now everyone goes through the metal detectors, at least that's what I've seen in the last few weeks, so even without a bag you have to line up to go through the metal detectors.
Basically add up the minutes it takes you to park if you are driving or get out of the bus, walk to the bag check, go through metal detectors then line up to the tapstiles. That will give you the amount of time you are saving.
With this service you are already inside the park, also with this service giving you a schedule you don't have to get to the bu stop and wonder how long until the bus comes, you know when it's coming and leaving.
If you are using a car add the time to stop at the toll and show that you already paid for parking

We're staying on property, so no car. I haven't been to Disney in 16 or so years... before there was so much security, so I don't really have anything to compare timing wise. How long does security take, on say a crowd level 5 day? I'm very much leaning towards using this express service, but would like to know how much time I'm saving, just so I can be extra gleeful about it! :D

We haven't used it yet, but for me, the biggest time saver is knowing when the buses are scheduled to leave each park. You can get the schedule the day of, so you know when to get to the express transportation. If you use regular buses for hoping, there's always the chance you get to the stop just as another bus has left, and then you wait for 20 min for the next bus to come along. It's also quite a walk out of each of the parks to the bus stop. Having the express bus INSIDE the park is a plus for me as well.

short version LOVE IT!!

really really loving the Express Bus system. We have APs and generally PH using our car (love my car) but this wins out. It is so easy to just turn up, hop on and end up in another park!

I made a chart of times the buses depart from each park for each (other ) park and we are using that....I know times can change but so far things seem stable (this is after 2 whole days LOL ...)

our "fullest" bus (so far) had 8 whole people it in and we were 3 of them (did not count the bus driver guess we actually had 9 people) - we have also ridden several times as the only people on the bus...

Thing to remember is the bus will leave on time so you need to show up a few minutes before departure time - we did change our minds last minute and decide to take a bus to MK instead of DHS and they did walk us back and get us on the bus in less than 3 minutes (departure time!)

Only real suggestion I have is they should post the departure times on MDE. I have already e-mailed Disney to compliment the service but forgot to mention that (will do that at the end of the trip and compliment it again)

We travel without bags and aren't going to hesitate to buy it the second we land. The checking of bags isn't where time is saved. It's the walking out and back in to the park, and going through turnstiles. I have no doubts it will half the amount of time you take to get in and out of the park

there was one time it too me 45 minute to get up to where bag check was ( I think some thing happened that day that made it so backed up) but normally I can get thought Bag check in about 5 minutes ( and I have a back pack)

if the last ride at one park is close too where the express buss leaves and the park you are going to is close to where you want to be at

so for example you are at MK and you are going to ride space ( you have a FP at 12 and you want to hope to HS and ride TOT or RNR and then go back to MK to ride buzz ( for a FP at 2:30) then it would be worth while.

Admitting I have not read all 52 pages of this thread, I DO have a question on Express T. If you rent a wheelchair at one park and use this service, do you have to turn in the wheelchair before using the service as you usually do when exiting that park? Or can it be transported with you? And if you do have to return it, is there an area backstage or do you have to go to the front of the park to return it and then make your way to the express t area? TIA!

Good Morning Dewdrop - is this chart something you'd be willing to share?
Thanks.

These are the times I jotted down while we were there. Don't take it as gospel though- they're subject to change and in my hurry at the parks, I could've made an error. I do think this is correct, just no guarantees!

Epcot to AK: 20/50 - AK to Epcot: 20/50
Epcot to MK:10/40 - MK to Epcot: 10/40
Epcot to DHS: 00/30- DHS to Epcot: 00/30

AK to DHS:10/40 - DHS to AK: 10/40

Sorry if this was already mentioned but I don't remember seeing it, if you buy the 7 day express pass is it only good for 7 consecutive days or could you use it 7 days over a 10 day stay? We're obviously doing a 10 day stay in March and I really like what I'm reading about this service, just trying to plan how I can use this.

We were told 7 consecutive days. When we were asked for freedback from the CM, we told them that we would like a length of stay option because we usually stay 10 days (our next trip is 13 days).

Much faster because you don't need to go thru x ray, you don't need to go thru the ticket/finger scan, and in every case except Epcot, you enter the park way near the back of the park (next to TOT, next to Buzz Light year, next to Kilamanjaro Safari), so you are saving the walk from bus stops to park entrance on both sides as well.

They have wheel chairs and strollers at all express stops, so you can leave it when you board the bus and pick up another one at your next destination.

The time schedule you both expressed gratitude for is for THAT DAY only. Please do not go into this with that schedule in hand and expect it to be the same when you are there. Disney is still fine tuning this service and the exact times for each park have been changing daily.
