DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Evening all,

We've been involved in a basketball tournament all weekend. DS and his JV team have been playing in a varsity tournament and ended up going 1-2 in their pool. Both losses were by 1 point. Proud of the way DS has been playing so far but he's is beat. They are only about 7 players deep and he and the other starters are playing between 30 and 35 minutes a game. The close games have been coming about when they try to get some of the other bench players some time and so far it hasn't worked out well for them.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Oh and 91 days until WDW!!

Dreams at Xmas is good, but not as good as the regular Dreams.
Still lovely to see the park with Christmas decor though, this is our first time and we loved it. Still prefer Halloween. Does this make me evil?

:thumbsup2 Went with the Egg Nog & Bourbon. It's worked with Bella, however George tried to start a bar fight with a 5 year old tottenham fan. You owe me 200 for bail.

We like the MNSSHP at WDW. We have been to 8 of them. We want to try a MVMCP. Maybe one of these year.

As for the incident with the tottenham fan, sounds like it was justified. The bail money is in the mail.

That is a lot of minutes. Glad to hear he is playing well. Congrats on your coaching or DNA or combination thereof. :lmao:

I'm not coaching anymore, although I did sit on the bench for three games when the assistant was away just in case the coach got himself in some trouble. I would like to say DS is getting this from me but he's a better ball player than I ever was. Now if we were talking volleyball it would be a different story.

Hello Dads, I'm soon leaving Asia behind for a month and heading home today. Lots of flying ahead of me with stops in Dubai and London, but I'm looking forward to getting home for Christmas. Unfortunately I'm a day late for seeing DD16 in the local Santa Claus parade, it's her first year as a cheerleader. But I do get back a day before DD9's school concert, so at least I'll see that.

You coming to London Jeff?

Happy Sunday. Miserable cold and slight rain all day. Had a party after church this morning and my girls got to be Santa's helpers for his annual visit. It was good food for the adults. Been watching football and staying warm & dry.

I've missed a few of my dds' events over the years. It stinks, but working to pay the bills supports the family too.

Close ones.

Finished the tournament off with a win today, places them 9th out of the 16 teams in the tournament.

Safe travels. Could you pick me up a kebab in Dubai. ;)

Gentelmen,

Not to jinx it, but I see light at the end of the tunnel. Got some sleep last night and it seems the bug decided he is going to move elsewhere. Felt good enough this morning that the kid and I went out to breakfast and then get the tree. She picked out 5'-6' little bugger. Looks nice but this is the smallest tree I've had in 20+ years. When the Princess was just a wee lass, we would buy a huge tree for the Living Room (it has a vaulted ceiling). We went from the Cinderella Castle of Christmas trees to a Sleeping Beauty castle one. Too old for that nonsense but still need to dig out some old pictures.

The live show in DHS? Did they warm up every show or just one a day? I don't remember seeing them. We were there in 2005, 2006, 2007, & 2008 and made that show at least once per trip. I never saw them.

They regularly preformed before the Beauty and the Beast show. Eventually the number of shows a day were cut down and I think they were let go in the mid/late 90's. Very talented guys. They pretended they were techs for the show and would do their stick eventually singing to the audience. Shame you never saw them.

Bonsoir boys, from a very cold Paris. Broke the kids again.

You need to stop doing that.

Hope you feel better soon. Meatballs in soup...would that be Italian Wedding soup? I love that stuff, although I've never had proper homemade soup.

You have the Italian Wedding soup right but this was just meatballs and sauce. Find when I am not feeling so well, I make them to munch on them whenever I want. My Grandmother always had meatballs at the ready if we whined about needing something. Finishing them off tonight with pasta.

See, didn't I tell you? Break them enough and then there are bar fights. Trip looked like a lot of fun.

Thought to lose close ones, builds character though.

We were just the opposite. The first MNSSHP was just a couple of years ago. Personally, I liked it better that MVMCP but you have to do each at least once. Nothing compares to the Headless Horseman and the parade.

Safe travels and sorry you are going to miss her parade. It stinks but it is what we have to do. Glad you are making the younger one's concert and I am sure they will just be glad to have you around.

Saw the Pic on FB, looks like they were enjoying it. Its been hot down here but I'm not complaining because the sun felt good and I think helped get rid of the chest thing.

Glad to hear you are feeling better Cj. It is expensive to buy a real tree in Miami?

I think the two 1 point losses were learning experiences for them, especially given they were playing "up" against varsity teams and both games were theirs to win.

Sounds like a. Good weekend being had by most here. FIL was finally admitted to hospital early Thursday evening. Between his COPD (chronic bronchitis / emphasima) and congestive heart failure he now also has cardiomyopathy. Oxygen levels are low because plumbing ain't working and he has no strength. Plan is to now get him into rehab so they can control diet with low sodium and work on physical therapy and breathing exercises. Medication is how they will keep heart stuff from worsening but nothing can improve it. Basically pops is just a mess so positive thoughts and prayers appreciated.
Thanks for all the kind wishes, guys. She's steadily improving, although we still don't know what the heck happened. 2 nights ago the pain was a 7 (and she doesn't exaggerate pain. if she says 7, she's thought carefully about it and it's a 7) Next day a 6, last night a 5 today a 3. Keeping fingers crossed.
Great to hear she is getting better.
Bon soir mes amis, a Paris.
Let the kids sleep in this morning, turned the morning into a total washout. All we got done was Ratatouille and Mickey & Minnie Xmas M&G. The crowds were crazy today. We same back early afternoon and then hit the rides as the parades started, so ticked up our ride count for the day. Ate in Walts this evening, with a couple of Anchor Steams.
Yesterday was much better, full day with no crowds. Got tons done, and finished off with the Character buffet in the Hotel. The DL hotel is stupidly close to the park. It is literally 50 steps from the gate exit to our buildings door. George and I counted.

Dreams at Xmas is good, but not as good as the regular Dreams.

Good to hear all are having a great time. We agree that Christmas at Disney is just awesome. Good to see George doesn't take any grief :-)

Tough to only go 7 deep when playing up a level but sounds like they held their own.

Sorry about missing DD in parade but unfortunately in this day age too much business travel but still sucks when we have to miss anything. Happy for you that your rotation has you home for Christmas. Safe travels and enjoy the time with the family.

Glad your on the mend, and hope you didn't relapse watching Florida or Miami play football. :lmao:

I liked the horseman, but my favorite in the parade is the gravediggers, especially when they get the dance going and sparking those shovels. But, the best part of MNSSHP is Hallowishes, when that first big burst of white fireworks goes up around the parks and lights everything up. The finale is awesome. Plus, it has the best choreographed music, although DHS Star Wars was pretty good as well.

It certainly was. That's a wrap for Disney this year, we've done pretty well this year with WDW and DLP.

Have a lovely Monday, safe travels Jeff, and best wishes to all from the Mother Country.

Morning guys,

Looks like a good day today down here in the South. And another decent night of sleep. Things are looking up.

I think the two 1 point losses were learning experiences for them, especially given they were playing "up" against varsity teams and both games were theirs to win.

Totally agree, adversity brings out character. No shame in losing two games by 1 point each especially when they were playing up in class. As long as they left it all on the court they can hold there heads up.

Sorry to hear about your FIL, hope he gets better soon. Being home for the holidays is a good incentive to get better.

Good to hear you are getting better. Good luck with the tree.

Lights are up and because of the size, it was a piece of cake. The kid is in finals week so I am postponing putting on the ornaments until next week when she can participate. She is discovering that Grad School is a lot tougher than undergrad.

Yes, on all counts. The gravediggers are cool and Hallowishes is the best fireworks show done by Disney. Start Wars is a close second because the number of bomb blasts at the end.

It certainly was. That's a wrap for Disney this year, we've done pretty well this year with WDW and DLP.

The fortune teller says, "I see many more trips to Disney in your future." You even made me want to go to DLP. Hoping for a trip to the UK two summers from now so maybe then.

Hopefully my fortune teller will then tell my Bank Manager. Exciting stuff on the UK trip. Do you think you're gonna do the European tour thing?

Morning gents, Day 7 at work, I think.... I don't remember. Six more to go then off until Dec 26.

Finished the tournament off with a win today, places them 9th out of the 16 teams in the tournament.

And with those two games you lost by a point... not too shabby.

Glad to hear.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Only 3 more weeks with two of them only being 4 day weeks until a nice long break from the day job for Christmas and New Years. A little share of our decorations, the main villages display at our house

Prayers for FIL.
Thanks Norm
Best wishes to your FIL

Thanks CJ. You better wait until the PP can help with ornaments or you will be in big trouble. All the best to her with Grad school and tell her I said "welcome to the real world" - like she ain't heard that a time or two already :)

Nice! Way more elaborate than mine. I'll post a pic when I get it set up. (might be a few days.... still getting the tree up!)
