Liberty Tree Menu Is Changing This Week

"Literally the worst meal we had all week. $100 for four burgers and two sides (dip and fritters, fritters were tasteless). I waited until we were outside to say, "well, if we were just going to have bland burgers, we couldhave gone to Pecos Bill's and saved a bunch of money." I should have taken the $10 reservation penalty and walked out."

Just as a head's up if you find yourself in this situation again, you will not be charged the penalty as long as you go there, check-in, and let them know you are not liking the new menu.

I have an ADR for LTT on our trip in 26 days... I have always to eat at this restaurant, even as a little kid. I remember walking past this restaurant and begging my parents to eat there. Now with the menu changes, I am torn. I am so sad and I don't know what to do. I am thinking of just going to whispering canyon cafe since it is close to where we are staying.

how was the dip? I was planning to do an app and dessert meal here and none of that has changed, I was glad to pick up the ADR. The fritters have gotten some good reviews lately too, I wonder if they changed the recipe or just an off day.

BTW I don't think burgers and fries are any less junk food than pasta with veggies and lean proteins but that's just me ;) Just trying to determine if the food has really gone downhill or if people are just ticked about the reduction in a la carte choices in the menu (I understand why people are ticked but for me there are still plenty of choices I'd like). It would very likely ruin my meal to have that unpleasant surprise after I was looking forward to something different.

I don't do seafood, but the two in our party who shared the dip did like it... they kept it to dip their fries in as well. I normally don't do fries, so I agree about "junk" status. ;-)

Thanks for the confirmation! I'll know what to do in the future. :-)

Believe me, I get it. If I walked into that expecting my favorites it would color my whole experience . Just trying to ascertain if there is a drop in quality as well or just lack of what you really wanted . I'm not a burger person really but I eat one on occasion... But if I felt it was my only choice I'd likely not enjoy it much as opposed to having one when I'm in the mood for it.

well it seems like people are dropping LTT over this. I recently changed my flight to arrive at 10am instead of 5pm on a friday and was able to just yesterday pick up a 12:15 LTT lunch that someone dropped. Today 1:35 is available. Seems like people are TICKED. it's during free dining so before that it was sold out at lunchtime as was everything else at MK, even skipper's canteen.

Not surprised about people's reactions anymore. :sad2: I'm super excited though since I really wanted to do the Platter for my husband. He saw it on the DIS and thought it looked good. Now we can do it at lunch as dinner wouldn't have worked out. Never had the Pot Roast so that doesn't bother me. Heck, I can make my own pot roast. I like Pork Roast and it may be my only chance to try the Prime Rib. We have the VMCP the same night so we'll be working it off anyway.

Oh, they changed the dessert for dinner to the new bread pudding instead of the apple tart! I'll be anxious to hear reviews of that!

I saw that. I really wanted to try that tart but I guess I'll have to move on and try the bread pudding instead.:laughing:

That's my biggest gripe. This might be no big deal for people who do the dining plan, but this was one of the more affordable meal options for those who don't want to, or can't, do buffets and family style for every meal. If they did the all you can eat platter and left plenty of ala carte options it wouldn't be a big deal.

This and The Plaza were both great for that more affordable TS meal and I heard The Plaza is no longer taking ADRs for most of the day? I also asked them to clarify if that's still the case because when you are dining with complex food allergies an ADR is a must.
THIS!!!I have very complicated dietary issues that LTT dealt with amazingly well and hubby loved being able to a complete turkey dinner that was dairy free. We can't do buffet or family style -- there is literally nothing in that platter that i could eat without some serious doctoring and most places are preparing that type of food in massive quantities to just portion it out, not conducive to "simple basic food" Our other go-to place in the MK is the Plaza for excellent dietary accommodations and since we don't do rope drop (read that as we're old) the strict ADR 1 hour window won't work. Without an ADR it's hard to give them a heads up about our diets <sigh>

Just a heads up, Whispering Canyon does that AYCTE platter. They are able to make it gluten free. And I have seen it ordered dairy free. When our family ordered it, I got my own, and my family got theirs. Obviously I don't know what they will do at LTT, they have served the bounty platter as gluten free and dairy free.

While I can certainly understand why people are upset about this change, I think for us it will be fine. We've always debated whether the pot roast at LTT is better than 50's Prime Time and we honestly can't tell the difference. We have a couple of ADR's at Prime Time for our trip in January so we'll get our pot roast fix there. Except for our first visit in 2005, we've always done lunch at LTT because we didn't want to do a character meal. Imagine my surprise to learn that it stopped being a character meal in 2009. I'm looking forward to trying the AYCTE option. We like to have our main meal of the day during lunch and then have a light meal or snack in the evening. While the cost increase for lunch is significant, I'm fortunate that I only have to pay for myself. If I was paying for a family of 4 or more to eat there, I'd probably be singing another tune.

I'm pretty bummed. I loved the pilgrims feast. It's why I started choosing LTT at lunch instead of dinner. (That and the toffee cake!)Didn't have to pay a ton of money and stuff yourself stupid. I'm going to keep my adr considering it's frickin thanksgiving week and making a different adr would be next to impossible. Just sucks.

I'm actually excited about this. I'm not a huge fan of thanksgiving food, but my DH loves it so it's right up our alley. I can have a burger and toffee cake and he can have the platter.

You could already get a turkey (thanksgivng type) meal there before.. so getting turkey is not new with this change now instead of a large lunch portion for a lunch price you are paying significantly more to have all you can eat. As long as he likes a huge portion of food and paying over $30 then he should be pleased

Okay, I sent my email with feedback about the new changes. Going to be searching daily for another option for December. Hopefully, something will pop up soon.

While they dont do anything but say they will pass on the feedback..I believe that they do in fact do that and I have seen Disney make changes based on guest feedback many times!

A little confused about what the AYCTE meal consists of at dinner. About six weeks back, I had read that it had been changed, substituting pot roast for the prime rib and ham for the pork. The turkey remained the same. Now, it appears that it is back to the original platter but with a different dessert? Do I have it correct?

I just got a response today that they were forwarding my email to a more appropriate dept. Maybe because I mentioned the kids food allergies.

I do agree they do listen to feedback. Several years back I had contacted them about the extremely difficult time we had with dining options particularly at AK. With the park being so spread out we went from QS to QS location trying to find safe options for the kids with little to no luck. I suggested a central location that can provide information for people about menus and ingredients and I must not have been the only one because several months later they opened up that allergy snack kiosk that gives info about lower allergen options.

I've read about changes happening pretty quickly with enough of a guest backlash. We'll see if this is enough or just a ripple in their plans.

Whispering Canyon is great at handing food allergies. We went there a couple of years ago and I couldn't eat the ribs because they had cinnamon on it. The chef told us to call them before our next trip and he would make ribs for me that had no cinnamon in the rub. We called them and told them when our ADR was and when we showed up and told the waiter, the chef came out to speak to me and told me he had made two racks of ribs for me (and my family if they liked those better.) They went far beyond anything we anticipated and it was delicious.

We've seen many menu changes over the past 30 years and they are not all for the better. I think those changes come about when a restaurant gets a new executive chef that has a personal whim for what is too often "gourmet" cuisine. I like to think of LTT as more of a traditional menu with hearty meals of pot roast and turkey and not sushi and tacos. I'd still like to get my hands on the genius who switched all the good hot dogs in the parks to those awful chicken dogs.
or the buns to the whole grain buns that crumble on first bite. or took away the yummy "mom's night out" at pop century

We were at the Liberty Tree for dinner the Sunday after the hurricane -- the lettuce was not only wilted, but mostly brown so we didn't eat it. We didn't complain as we assumed they were struggling to get fresh produce in after the storm and wanted to give them a break.

What followed was a number of issues (unbelievably salty being a common theme) and a strange encounter with our server that led us to the conclusion we need to put the Liberty Tree on the back burner for awhile -- which is a shame as it historically has been our go to spot for dinner at the MK.
in sept at lunch we found our turkey platter to be VERY salty (and we aer , unfortunately, big salt lovers)
