Hurricane at Disney over Columbus Day Weekend?

So here's my question... If Matthew does impact Florida and we have Tropical Storm or Hurricane type weather here at WDW what will happen to my family's MNSSHP tics for Thursday 10/6?

If it's that bad, the party will be cancelled and the tickets refunded.

Yes, that s is true as I've found out. I asked a Guest Realtions Cast Member about MNSSHP being a "washout"!or cancellation Thursday and they told me that our MNSSHP tics would automatically be turned into 1 Day Park Hoppers good for up to one year. If we wanted to try for Friday's Party we would have to go to Guest Relations and request that instead. Depending on weather we may just extend our stay and go to the parks Saturday during to good weather.

Could the resort do this or would I have to go to MKif I want to switch the date?

I asked this same question and the Cast Member told me that I didn't have to even try and attend the party or go to the park to do this. He said I could come back to Customer Sevice at Disney Springs and do it there, which is were I was when I asked this question.

Thanks, I guess I'll try at my resort whenI get there if Thursday is a washout. I have no plans of going to Disney Springs.

I have a friend who lives in FL and they have cancelled school Thurs and Fri.

I'm just worried that the Friday party may be very crowded if all the Thursday guests opt for that party. We have tickets for Friday and are driving down on Thursday afternoon. I'm a little nervous about the drive honestly.

What is there to do at the resorts if we get stuck with a rainy day on Friday?

We're looking at maybe rethinking things and taking the park hopper and using it Saturday instead of Friday's party as the storm has slowed down and will look to impact this area over both days starting late Thursday through late Friday now. Storms are so unpredictable we're playing it by ear.

As far as things to do at the resorts it depends on which one you stay at. Most, if not all, on property have arcade game rooms. Some resorts have Community Centers were kids and families can do crafts and play board games. Art of Animation has a drawing class. Poly, Wilderness Lodge, and Animal Lodge have Kids Clubs for a fee with activities. Some resorts have free tours throughout the day. Just ask Concierge or Guest Services when you check in and they'll be happy to let you know!

So far only Brevard County has cancelled schools in our area on the coast. They also have mandatory evacuations of the barrier island. I'm in Volusia county just north & they haven't made a decision yet.

Good chance with timing the worst will be at night. It could be really really nice for MNSSHP

Post hurricane weather can be awesome.

That's my hope that the weekend is nice. If we can get in after it passes by Friday evening. We're planning to got to a water park Saturday morning and MK in the evening. Hopefully there will not be much damage around Kissimmee and Disney.

Grew up at the beach and experienced my share of hurricanes. the irony is the weather after a hurricane is typically great. It literally just takes so much energy out of the atmosphere.

Orlando will certainly get wind and some rain. I expect local schools to be closed. Tulane and UCF just cancelled their football game for Friday night.

The biggest concern is gas; if you are driving down 1-95 literally every county from southern NC to Florida is under some sort of watch up to some sort of evacuation. Especially lower part of Sc where 1-26 is being reversed (all lanes heading north towards Columbia) today. Local colleges are closing and many public schools in SC are closed starting today. While I think the SC governor pulled the trigger a bit early, there are many parts of the SC coast that flood easily (looking at you Edisto Island).

Can you get there? sure but expect some heavy traffic.
