"Official" Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2015 Thread - Rockin' Around the Cinderella Castle!

Debating on whether or not to bring mitts and sweaters-what have you all been doing?
We were there December 3 and it was a little rainy and in the low 60's. I wore jeans, long sleeves, a lightweight hoodie, and a hooded sweater and was comfortable. I had a hat and gloves with, just in case, but didn't need them. During the day, I was comfortable in a skirt and tshirt. I was too hot in jeans.

On the Nov. 12th MVMCP, I got a pack of the regular cards, the Minnie Halloween party card and the Olaf Christmas party card.

Dagnammit. Should have paid more attention to this SOTMK thing. My son had done it in the past once and ran across it near the end of our recent trip so did it again. Never thought about it earlier in week at the party, he would have loved getting the party cards because he's now SOTMK crazy.

Posted this question on another post but thought I would post here also. Is it possible to stay in one place to see the castle show, parade, and fireworks without having to move ? We have little ones, so we will most likely have to see the first parade. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. We will be there on Thursday the 10th.

We did - we sat on the curb just outside of Casey's - on the main street side for all three. It was right next to the fire hydrant. We had a perfect view for all. Although we did see the second parade - so we arrived for Memories/Wishes and stayed for the second parade. It was last Friday.

We wore shorts and a tshirt. DD had a hooded sweatshirt that she put on as the night progressed, but I was fine. We are from NY.

We went to the party Thursday, December 3. The weather was rainy and in the low 60's after it got dark.

We felt like we accomplished a lot - everything we really wanted to do and more. Here's what we did:

We were already in the park so we got our wristbands at 4 PM outside Philharmagic
Lined up for Sandy Claws just after 4 - we were first in line
Met Sandy Claws at 5
5-6:30 - Used our FP for 7D then rode Pirates and Splash Mountain
Started to rain so we ducked into Pinnochio's for dinner
7:15 - Got in line for Scrooge/Donald, Minnie/Daisy, and Santa Goofy - took turns going to get cookies and cocoa
7:55-8:10 - met the characters
8:10-8:20 - First parade was about to start and we planned to watch the 2nd so we checked out the dance party at the Diamond Horseshoe
8:30 - met the reindeer and elf with no wait
Wandered over to Frontierland
9:10 - met Tiana and Naveen with no wait
Watched the castle projection show from the xmas store in Liberty Square
Got more cocoa and cookies
Watched fireworks from New Fantasyland
9:45 - stopped at Phineas and Ferb's dance party
10 PM - Got front row spots for the 2nd parade in Frontierland, right across from the Diamond Horseshoe
Watched the 2nd parade
Met the Pooh characters
Checked out the show in Tomorrowland
11:45-12:15 - wandered around Main Street

If we'd had a longer trip, I definitely would've liked to do the party a second time to concentrate on meeting the princesses and maybe spend some time seeing things from the front of the castle.

We were also at the 12/3 party. Worst weather night of our trip and felt downright cold by the end of the night (we were wearing pants and 3/4 length shirts). But we still had a great time!! Here's what what we accomplished:

In the park a little after 4, went right to Sandy Claws. Lined up about 4:20, were 6-8 families back, met him around 5:15.

Grabbed dinner at Pinocchio Village Haus then lined up for Flynn/Rapunzel. About a dozen groups in front of us at 6:15, were done by 7:30. Flynn is awesome. Ask him what's in his satchel. :)

Walked onto BTMRR twice then rode SDMT (1/2 hour wait) before checking in for the dessert party. It's not my favorite view of the fireworks, but that night we were thankful to have a (dry!!!) place to sit and wait!!

After the fireworks met Tink (10 minute wait) and Santa (10 minute wait) before grabbing a curbside seat at the end of Main Street for the 2nd parade. Got tons of character interaction from that spot!!

It was almost 11:30 by the time the parade passed us, so we left after a ride on iasw to end the night.

Nothing I would have done differently except meeting Scrooge McDuck instead of riding rides before the fireworks....but the kids had done so well waiting for Jack and the princes, we rewarded them with some coasters!!

Hope everyone yet to go has a magical time!!!

You were in line right behind us for Sandy Claws! I ended up buying a lightweight hoodie to add an extra layer - the rain definitely made it feel extra chilly.

Ok, I think I have a strategic plan hatching here for the kiddo's must-sees and dos. Can anyone critique this plan for me? This is our first Mvmcp.

-around 4:00, go to a wristband station and get banded
-around 4:30, get in line for Sandy Claws
-hopefully finish there around 5:15, then head to grab a quick bite
-get hubby in line for the Dwarves around 6, take kiddo on a low wait time ride
-hopefully meet dwarves by 7:15
-Jack Sparrow?
-Peter Pan? (I am really stuck on when to try for those two. Any advice is appreciated)
-Space Mountain
-8:15 parade from somewhere not too crowded. We are fine missing the character interactions, we just want to be able to see.
-Maybe a few more rides and call it a night. To be honest, I'm not sure the little guy can stay up for the fireworks, though it would be awesome. I'm expecting to need to leave by around 9:00 to be realistic, and yes, I realize that we are likely spending $300 for essentially two hours of party time but it is what it is. It's my mom's only Christmas trip ever and she really, really wanted to try the party.

Any suggestions or changes :)?

It sounds like you'll be in the park for the daytime prior to party. If that's correct, you should move space mountain and Peter Pan meets to the daytime. Those will take away from party time when you could be doing something exclusive for the $ you're paying. I'm not sure how old your son is but my kids really loved seeing the Tomorrowland show with Mike Wazowski in a Santa hat. Although it was CRAZY loud so if your kid hates loud noises be warned. We put the kids on our shoulders and stayed back a ways so they could see but not feel overwhelmed. My kids tend to crash around fireworks time but they are AMAZING and so much better than normal ones so we just get the kids asleep in the stroller or the baby carrier (ergo) and watch them while they doze. If the kids stay asleep we take our time leaving to avoid the mad bus rush after fireworks. I'd rather be in the park enjoying the atmosphere than standing waiting for a bus.

That is a great point about Peter, thank you- we just never seem to be able to find him! Kiddo is determined to wear his pyjamas to the party and ride Space at least twice, so we will give him that ;).

Yes, we will be there beforehand so I am going to try again to figure out whether we can meet Peter Pan another time or day. I really wanted to see Voice-play and the Tomorrowland show too...not thinking it will happen. Kiddo is 6.5, so too old for stroller and too young to stay up too late.

Does the rest of the plan sound doable to you experts?

We went to the party last night (we also spent 3 hours at rope drop at MK). We arrived back around 4 pm...

We didn't get as much done as others, but here is what we (DH, DD7 & DD2) did:
- FP+ meet Ariel
- Astro Orbitors
- FP+ Buzz Lighyear
- dinner at Caseys
- rode teacups
- Space Mountain (DH& DD7)
- lined up for Rapunzel & Flynn (DD2 & I) met around 7:15)
- watched parade on Main Street & had hot cocoa
- space mountain (DH & DD7) walk on
- seven dwarfs (DH & DD7) about 30 minutes
- watched fireworks on Main Street (DD2 & I)
- space mountain again (DD7 & I).
- left around 10:45

It was fun. I see why people like to go to 2 parties. I would have liked to see the other side of the park and meet some other characters.

Go straight to the dwarves after sandy claws. Eat in dwarves line. We did this strategy for the Halloween party and it most likely saved us an extra 45 minute wait for the dwarves. We were done meeting them by 715. Eating in line wasn't so bad.

I might be wrong, but I'm 90% sure you won't meet them anywhere near 715 if you eat and then get in line.

We went to the party last night, and although it was sold out, it didn't feel crowded at all! Thank you all for the helpful tips! Here's what we did, hopefully it helps out others:
We got in line for Sandy Claws at 4:15 and were the 5th family in line. Meet him at 5:10.
Used FP+ to meet Ariel, Cinderella and Rapunzel.
Got in line for the Dwarves at 6:15pm. They came out at 6:50 and we finished meeting them at 7:30. Side note - we walked by their line again at 11pm and there were only 10 people in line.
7:45 - 8:20 Watched both shows in Tomorrowland, then grabbed standing spots behind people sitting on the curb in front of the Train Station for the 8:30pm parade right before the parade reached Main St. It was the perfect spot to meet Mary Poppins, Bert and Mr Penguin after the parade ended. There were many spots open behind the first row of people who all remained sitting for the parade.
Right after Santa appeared, we left to meet Mary Poppins and co. We were the 2nd in line.
9:10pm Found a spot to the right (if you're facing the castle) of the normal Wishes FP+ viewing area. We were right behind the designated walkway, so no one stood in front of us for Holiday Wishes.
9:50pm Got in line for Captain Jack Sparrow, who was coming out at 10:05pm. We were the 4th family in line.
10:25pm danced with the Country Bears - this dance party was so empty, we got so much attention from the bears!
11pm Met Scrooge/Donald/Daisy/Minnie. We also walked by the Aurora/Snow and their princes lines and there were only 15 people in line. We heard from other people that the other princess lines were just as short.
11:30pm Met Pooh and the gang
The photo pass photographers were out until at least 1am, so we took lots of photos and bought some party merch after the party was technically over.

We had such a great time and feel like we got a lot done! Thank you everyone again for all the helpful tips!

Anyone going to the party soon? I'd love for someone to pick up some extra party cards for me. Please.

Thank you!

We might swap out adults to hold the line place then, so one of us takes kiddo to eat and maybe a low wait ride and then the other one can go eat after that, otherwise I think this strategy is great, thanks again!

Here now for the party and weather is perfect! Crowds pretty light and I don't think it's sold out. Cast member at Fairytale Hall told us to line up at 6:30 for Flynn. I think we'll try the Casey's spot for the parade!

Tomorrow night! I can't believe my mini-trip is almost here! We fly into Tampa tomorrow morning and will be at Disney in the evening!
