Makeup for Disney!

I really want to try BB cream but I can't find one that is light enough to match my fair skin. I don't want to look like an Oompa Loompa (orange) and I often have a hard time finding foundations/powders that are light enough. When I had my makeup done for my wedding the makeup artist had to custom make a foundation for me since I'm so fair :( I always wear a moisturizer with SPF of at least 30 on my face and then usually use pressed powder. Anyone with fair skin use a BB cream that matches your skin tone?

Trish Mcevoy's BB is great without any color. It's just a cream you put on prior to your makeup/powder.

Buy it from cvs, I'm sure other stores have the same policy. But, I know for a fact at cvs if you buy it, try it, dislike it you can return it for a refund or money card if you don't have a receipt!!!

We don't have CVS here, can you believe it? No Costco either. We are deprived, LOL.

I am not going this summer, but I am already loving the Estee Lauder Techo Jam pure color cheek stain, and sheer lip color. It looks crazy scary on your finger but looks great on my upper cheek bones and blends in with my natural redness on my apples. I would normally cover it up, but it makes me look awesome with just the cheek tint, lips and some mascara. I am going to rock this look this weekend at the Great Wolf Lodge! Only problem I am having is with mascara. I have oily lids naturally and am fine when I have my normal make up on (bare minerals) and my primers but I am afraid that my wearable waterproof mascara won't be heavy duty enough for the water park and its 84 degree temps. Any ideas?

Ohhhh! The techno jam cheek tint is great over bare minerals too!!

Love this thread!

Just got back from CVS where if you buy two Revlon products, get $5 in Rewards money...so, now I have Creme Brûlée and Berry Smoothie lip butters. Fig Jam looked tempting but I wanted to stay lighter for our upcoming trip to Hawaii. Thanks for all the great info!

Check out maybelline BB cream in light. I know if you buy it from cvs you can return it if it doesn't work for you. Good luck!

In Sept I only use sunscreen along with tinted moisterizer with spf 15, waterproof mascara, and lip balm.

I picked up two BB creams over the weekend to try and the Garnier light tone one definitely goes orangey on me which is sad because I liked the finish much better on it than the Revlon BB which is a better match to my skin tone but more oily.

I'm a big fan of MAC cosmetics. Thinking of trying Makeup Forever foundation and powder. Your opinions please :)

I was a MAC fan too..Then I switched to Makeup Forever..Love the Face and Body foundation.Very light and natural looking.I also like the HD powder

This thread is costing me money!!

I absolutely HATE wearing lipstick because it usually feels like clay on my lips. So, I stick to gloss. However, on y'all's recommendation I bought Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie.....LOVE IT!

Ran out and bought Creme Brulee, Peach Parfait, and Strawberry Shortcake. The only one I'm not crazy about is Creme Brulee - it makes me look a little washed out. The others are fabulous though! I was looking at Cupcake - anyone try that one?

.

Lol. I started the thread and it is costing me money too. ;)

I haven't tried creme brulee nectar it looks too light but if you want a brownish nude, pink truffle and below sugar are both beautiful. Brown sugar has a similar sheen to outreach parfait.

I haven't tried cupcake either. If you Google it you can probably find swatches.

OMG I absolutely LOVE this thread! This is a topic that has been weighing heavy on my mind as this June will be my first WDW trip! AH! So excited!!! Anyway, as far as makeup goes this is what I was thinking:

UD All Nighter
Smashbox CC Cream- Light
Tarte Amazonian Clay Concealer- Light
Cinema Secrets Ultralucent Setting Powder- Soft Custard
Pur Minerals Blush- Polynesian Pink
Smashbox Brow Powder- Brunette
CG Lash Blast Mascara- Very Black (Will be investing in the waterproof formula for this trip)
UD Eye Primer- Greed
VS Eye Shadow Quad
Smashbox Eye Liner- Onyx
Cinema Secrets Moisture Spray
Revlon Lip Butter- Multiple colors including berry smoothie, peach parfait, and fig jam

Yup... That's a light day for me! I am a "baby" make-up artist so I like to play with LOTS of makeup :) Cinema Secrets is my absolute favorite foundation but way to heavy and time consuming for a WDW trip :) Gotta keep it nice and light! Definitely gonna try some of those lip butters every one is suggesting :D

I leave tomorrow and this is what's in my makeup bag:

  • Smashbox Shine Control Primer
  • Smashbox CC Cream in Light Medium
  • Smashbox Halo Powder in Light
  • Tarte Brow Pencil
  • Tarte concealers - Amazonian Clay for blemishes (if any) and Maracuja for under the eyes
  • Mac Small Vanity Blush
  • Smashbox AM/PM blush duo
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Amused
  • Clinique Chubby Sticks for Eyes - Whopping Willow, Ample Amber, and Pink & Plenty
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Shadow Pencils, travel size - Juju, Sin, and Rehab
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay cream shadow pots - in pink and cream (the cream color will be a highlight under my brows)
  • Maybelline Color Tatto - Gold and Bronze
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Urban Decay Cannonball mascara
  • Maybelline Great Lash mascara in clear to set my brows
  • Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners - Zero, Bourbon, and Stray Dog
  • Urban Decay DeSlick - travel size
  • For my purse, a bunch of Revlon Lip Butters and a deluxe sample of Smashbox pressed powder in light.

I decided NOT to bring an eyeshadow palette so I don't need many brushes. I will only bring a powder brush, 2 blush brushes, and a stiff eyeshadow blending brush to blend the edges of the cream shadow (Urban Decay 24/7 shadow pencil brush). All of the shadow pencils and cream shadows stay on really well without creasing. I only tend to use Primer Potion with the tarte cream shadows, but will use them with all of them since I'll be outside all day in the heat. I figure, I'll be happy with "one and done" look, though if I work fast, I can use more than one color. I probably don't need as many as I'm bringing, but they don't take much space and I like options.

I have the same problem! I'm too pale for most foundations and I need a foundation to cover up some redness from breakouts I occasionally get (the red marks last forever on my pale skin). Its frustrating foundation shopping.

My all time favorite eye shadow color (origins sage green) has been discontinued! I've been wearing it for like 10 years. So now I'm on the lookout for a new brand of shadow. Love this thread!

MAC and Urban Decay are my favorites for eyeshadows :) Such beautiful rich colors! Make sure you spritz them with some alcohol when you are done to keep away any bacteria build up.

I saw a lot of recommendations for oily skin. Any tips for dry skin?

I normally only apply concealer. However, my skin is dry so everything that goes on my face usually ends up dry and flakey. I've tried different types of moisturizer but no luck. Even though my skin is dry, when I apply sunscreen for face (Banana Boat), it makes my face very oily and concealer would slip and slide on my skin (15-30 min between application). Have also tried Neutrogena Dry Touch suncreen but it leaves my face white and ghostly.

I've never been able to apply makeup AND sunscreen together. Please help!

For moisture under your foundation try something like Clinique Dramatically Different Gel moisturizer. It is a yellow gel so you get none of that white residue. Unfortunately it doesn't have an SPF but you should be able to find that in a foundation. Let your moisturizer set for at least 5 minutes before you apply any other products.

As mentioned above, I would find a foundation that has an SPF in it so you don't have to worry about applying a sunscreen. BB and CC creams ususally have this and offer a medium coverage :) Some liquid foundations also have SPF just depends on the coverage you need/ want :) Apply in a stippling motion with a sponge.

AVOID POWDER IF POSSIBLE!!! Powder just dries you out more and will look flaky. If you need a light dusting you can use a fan brush to lightly apply some powder to the spots that might get a little shiny. You can also use a powder puff to press powder on. Just don't rub it in!

Instead of a powder I would use a setting spray. My favorite is All Nighter by Urban Decay but they also make a moisturizing one called Dew Me :D

Smashbox makes AMAZING primers. Thier BB and CC creams already come with primer in them but if you feel you need something more they make a hydrating primer :)

You may also want to try a moisturizing spray. I use a brand called Cinema Secrets but Evian works too :D

Hope this helps! Let me know if any of it works for ya! :D

I completely agree! I have oily skin, and the Clinique gel moisturizer works amazingly for me.

Ladies, I didn't know where else to ask this, but what do y'all do with your hair in the parks? My hair won't stay straight with that Florida humidity, and I hate just putting it up in a ponytail for the whole trip.

Frizz Ease has a product called 3-Day Straight that could work for you.

I think I'm just gonna rock the ponytail :D

Same problem here. I think I'm going to get a quick trim right before we leave. My hair will curl/wave fairly decent right after a trim if I use a little product & scrunch it. Then I'll just throw it in a pony during the day. Mine is so long that it would be too hot to wear down anyway. But at least this way it won't be a frizzy pony! Then I can leave it down and wear it wavy in the evenings.
