Thanks. I just wanted to be prepared.

Hello! This coming October will be our families first trip to Disney World! Me, DH, 9 & 13 year old boys. Up until free dining came about we had the Contemporary booked, but they didn't have any rooms that would qualifiy to add free dining. So we switched to AKL, Arusha, savanna view. The kids are super excited, hubby couldn't care less except that by making the switch we saved a whopping $1,200.00. I'm excited, but all I have researced for the past year revolved around the Contemporary. I would love to hear more about AKL:thumbsup2

Are the "special programs" mentioned in the first post free or do you pay for them? If you pay, do you know how much they cost? Many thanks.

I think there are some free and some that cost. There is a complete list when you get there with times and costs.

We were worried about you. I am glad you are getting better every day!

Did you have lens replacement?

Yes, I did have lens replacements. According to my doctor, when my eyes are completely healed, my sight will be a lot better than it has been in years and my pressure (glaucoma) will be lower. :yay::yay:

Good Evening J's & K's

Good to see everyone here today. Welcome back Kathy...glad to hear you are doing so well.

I do not have any news regarding "the surprise" if there is one for our trip. DH has not said a word about it. However, to be fair we have had a very busy week.

We had a emergency car trip to San Diego as our friend there is not doing well at all. He had his wife call and ask us to hurry down he wanted to see us....before it was too late. :sad2: We left the next morning and were very glad we went. He just had things he wanted to say and items he wanted to give us himself. Really difficult! The good part is our visit seemed to perk him up...the doctor told us he didn't understand, but is happy to see him doing better. We came drove home today, as of this afternoon he ask for Mexican from El Indio in old town for dinner. So they headed out and I understand he ate a super great dinner.

I will try to hang out here as much as I can this week. Everyone take care.

Ann

Ann, glad your friend seems to be doing better. You and Tim must be good medicine for him. :goodvibes

I know that back when I was diagnosed with glaucoma you and I were talking about the different kinds.

But how does the lens replacement effect the pressure?

I have a lot of catching up to do on this thread. Going to start here.

Good morning Js & Ks :wave2: Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! :goodvibes

I can't even attempt to get caught up on all I missed here. :flower3:

The non-DCL cruise was great, but now it's time to get back into WDW mode!! :goodvibes

43 days!! :woohoo:

Laura, So glad you had a great time. It is always so great to get away with family and relax. I love cruising because you can be as lazy or busy as you want. Welcome back....you were missed! :goodvibes 43 days until you WDW trip Wow Congrats!

I think we should all get a pm from you...

Brandi, I agree with you on this statement. ::yes:: Wendy your sending out massive PM's and not including the whole group. Walt would not be happy with you. :rotfl::rotfl2:

Hi Everyone!!:wave2:

I'm new to this thread (not sure why I didn't check it out before now??:upsidedow) since we did an AKL visit on our last trip. Any who....tiggrbaby asked me to post some links about our trip. I'm in the middle of doing our TR about AKL CL/Dream which is in my signature. The links below are included in the TR, also. The Lodge was awesome!! Can't say enough about it:thumbsup2 The kids especially love it.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Heather, So glad to see you over here. I so am enjoying your TR and all the photos. Woot Woot

Welcome back to all who have been missing! I knew Laura was on her cruise, but it seemed rather quiet the last week. Nothing good to update on my front, nothing really bad either, but it would be nice to see some improvement.

Alison, I keep thinking things will get so much better for you and Fran. They will I have faith in that. Know you are thought about and cared about by so many of us....including me. :wave2: I so wish I had time to get to DL since Carsland opened...maybe this fall. Until then I have to enjoy it through your eyes and camera.

Brandi - I just wanted to say you were so right about my evil Frankenstein foot, Mark mentioned last night that I'm back walking at my normal speed, which is fast. I'm still hoping it's only a couple more weeks, but preparing to be another six weeks. Still having trouble with stairs as it's so heavy/awkward to lift.

Tracy, Sorry that you have to put up with the boot :( But it is pretty amazing to me that you are walking fast. Those things are not light and really affect your speed as well as fashion sense. :upsidedow I had to wear one for two weeks a few years back. Not fun! Here's to you not having on for six more weeks. :flower3:

You will have a great time -- it's an amazing couple hours! :goodvibes

To answer your question: no tipping. The price you pay (is it still $65 or has it gone up? :upsidedow) is all-inclusive. :thumbsup2
:goodvibes

We are doing the Sunrise safari in October, the price is still $65.00 pp. I think it is reasonable for the whole great experience with breakfast. I am sure some things have changed since our visit about eight years ago. I will have to report back to the thread after our visit. But I am excited to experience it again.
The highlight of my whole trip that year was being on that safari early in the morning and they had just let the giraffes out into the savannah. There were about nine of them walking toward us in the mist and right up to and around the safari vehicle. It was so Awesome! I get goose bumps just thinking about it. :cloud9:

Homemade dough, Canadian bacon, and Italian sausage with homemade sauce with mozz cheese all over...

Brandi, Do you share your recipes? Do you use a bread maker for your dough? This looks wonderful and the wine too. Yummers'!

Good morning, Js & Ks! :sunny:

Nothing new to report here, just checking in. I am up to my eyeballs at work with compositions so not lots of free time. Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Elin, Sorry you are so busy now. I was thinking of you the other day. I am looking for an AP discount for our AKL portion of our trip starting September 30th. Remember back in 2010 we both were sweating out getting one on an AP thread. :) You were so sweet and PM'd me because you are three hours ahead of us. That helped me so much. Thanks again
