Why Not Just Queue Up Another Disney Trip? Link to New TR 6/24 p136!

The only thing we've found is that ours is very sensitive to humidity/temperature in our room and so during certain seasons where it's kind of up and down, we do have to check our numbers and adjust them more than usual. Not a biggie though and it's really due to the fact that we keep our room door closed (to keep the cats out) and that drops the temp more than the rest of the house. took us a little while to figure out that is what was happening though.

That's good to know because the humidity changes around here like crazy.

So funny you mentioned the cats because Denny joked about what Max's number would be! :rotfl:

I've always slept well but sleep far better now, often not waking at all or just once. Jeff sleeps a TON better, he'd be up multiple times and it's gone down. On the stiffness, it's a little funny, before we'd wake up super sore and tight from bad sleep and it would impact the day. After we first got the bed I'd wake up a bit stiff but for different reasons. Namely never moving during the night! Incredibly well rested but I did need to stretch a bit at first, it's leveled out now so just a slight amount of normal morning stretch for both of us.

I can't imagine not flip flopping all night long. That sure is going to be a change. We are not having the bed delivered until we get back, so it really will give us something to look forward to. So good to know that the bed had such positive results for both of you. :goodvibes

YAY Vipers!!! Very Very cool and congrats Nick! Does he have his eye on anywhere he'd like to go (and play)?

Nick will have a list of non soccer schools which include Univ of Delaware, Univ of Maryland, Virginia Tech, and possibly Towson University (because they have an actuarial science program).

His soccer schools will be any small D3 school that is interested in him. It's very hard to get people to look at your when your from Delaware. I am not opposed to him going to a bigger school and playing club or intramural. He did get contacted by a coach from a D3 school here in the area so he will continue to follow up on that.

Nick really wants to coach soccer so he is going to have to play in some capacity. He loves the sport and watches it whenever he can. His strength is he is a smart player.

I feel like I've had a crash course in player/team profiles, rankings and all that in the last 2 weeks. It's been nuts! Such a change in level. Kind of funny to have been there, left, and now jump back in. the other girls have gradually moved up towards this but for us...huge adjustment. Having K write a bio, contact coaches prior to tournaments, etc. Guess that's what happens if you jump from a team ranked in the 700's to one in the top 100. LOL! Huge change. So glad this is as far as she will go, the ECNL stuff looks crazy intense to me, I can't imagine.

I don't really understand the ranking system all the well, but I know Nick's team is somewhere in the 200's. Brian's team got in the top 100 and yet none of the kids went on to play anywhere special. In fact, the vast majority don't play at all. I definitely think its easier for girls. Nick's GF has gotten hit up by a lot of D3 schools.

That's so exciting. I've been watching my phone all day as I get tournament updates from Kendall's tournament this weekend. Fingers crossed they win tonight so they move forward. Of course NO news on how her ankle is or if she's getting playing time or anything!

I hope she's playing and I hope her ankle is doing great. fingers crossed.

I've been also watching my phone and email all day to see if we got in to the July tournament, it's making me literally crazy, the not knowing! Supposedly emails went out yesterday so our coach should know and I can't help but suspect he's waiting to tell us until after this tournament! UGH. Tournament hasn't posted the list of accepted teams yet either, probably won't till sometime next week.

My gut feeling is they are going to get in. Call it soccer intuition! :rotfl: But at least you are prepared.

I did know about the car situation, that's a major drag but somehow thought there was a powder room in addition to the 2 baths? Ugh. We almost never get a car but at THV it's possible we might.

The THVs have an internal bus that takes you to the SSR bus stop. Oh brother. We will definitely be driving to the parks. :rolleyes1

I'm totally confused. :rotfl:

My challenge is I really can only do 6 nights tops, 4 vacation days. Work wise, 17-22 works better IF I can take a red eye so get in the morning of the 17th..then I don't lose a day. Problem is that the red eye schedules have changed which makes the 16th a much better flying option as it's a non stop, but I lose that whole day to travel which is a bummer of a way to use up a vacation day. Which puts me at the 16th-22nd and 5 vacation days from work.

And then means a 1/3/2 split for me. UGH!

I am fine with waitlisting the VWL at AKL if that's what you want to do. If so, just say the word. VWL is the smallest resort so I think we have the better chance of getting all 4 nights at AKL. I'll let you decide.

Part of the problem is that we now have a trip to Whistler with Jeff's dad and stepmom over labor day. They've booked a full week at the condo but K has to be back for school mid week so I'm not sure if we are going to bring her back and go back up, or not. If not then I have enough vacation time but if we are...I'll go negative on the fall trip. So I need to figure it out and book my darn flights. Almost booked this week but keep getting hung up on the 1/3/2. LOL! 3/3 sounds so much better but...we changed our ADR's and I really like how it flows right now and don't want to have to change anything!.
[/QUOTE]

I wasn't that worried about the 1/3/3 for me because I just looked at the first night as an extra night. I didn't think you would be coming that night. But once you said you were coming too I knew it would be easier for use to just stay put. So funny that I was actually going to email you the day the waitlist came through to suggest that we drop it.

High maintenance aren't I.

Yes! :rotfl2: Actually, I don't think you are at all.

Good news is that now that Jeff is doing "his" boys trip with his dad, leaving me to deal with flying the rest of us to FL on our own...he can't complain about 5 versus 6 nights depending on what I end up doing.

Well THAT'S good!

Congrats to Nick's soccer team...they look like they were enjoying themselves in the photo.

Thanks and YES - they ALWAYS enjoy themselves. They are a crazy bunch of boys, that's for sure. End of year party is Friday night and I am so glad we aren't missing it!

Bummer about your Rx being stolen. I don't know what you could have done to prevent it, but hopefully they'll catch them.

I only left them out for less than a minute while I went to get labels. The rest of the time they were in my binder where I keep my patient information. Someone knew right where to look.

Wow, you've got a lot of nice plans in the queue. They all sound great!

Thanks! Having a well stocked queue makes it easier to come home from a Disney trip. :thumbsup2

I meant to comment on that, was that at work? How awful!!

Yup. I lock all my Rx up when I am not using them and I never take them home, so they disappeared from work.

Always important to have ample trips in the queue! :thumbsup2 Can't believe your next one is in a week! :yay:

I can't wait to see you guys in Oct too. :goodvibes Did you hear that they are adding a new tour for F&W? You walk around with a chef to ~5 booths for samples (food and booze) and get "culinary detail." They haven't released cost or time (other than Wednesdays only) but that could be a fun thing to do together, maybe?

So funny you mentioned the cats because Denny joked about what Max's number would be! :rotfl:

I can't imagine not flip flopping all night long. That sure is going to be a change. We are not having the bed delivered until we get back, so it really will give us something to look forward to. So good to know that the bed had such positive results for both of you. :goodvibes

LOL on Max!!

You will sleep better. Will take a few days to figure out your number.

possibly Towson University (because they have an actuarial science program).
actuarial science.

those words in combination give me hives

LOL!

Go Nick

His soccer schools will be any small D3 school that is interested in him. It's very hard to get people to look at your when your from Delaware. I am not opposed to him going to a bigger school and playing club or intramural. He did get contacted by a coach from a D3 school here in the area so he will continue to follow up on that.

Nick really wants to coach soccer so he is going to have to play in some capacity. He loves the sport and watches it whenever he can. His strength is he is a smart player.
Sounds like he's got a good plan (and support from you!)

It's funny what a difference a state can make. You don't think (or I didn't) about it that much but in putzing around about this upcoming tournament I'm seeing lots of griping about other states not being able to get in because of the state they are from and how the ranking and state leagues play into it.

Interesting. All I really know is there are 3 rankings, state, region and national. But ultimately they recruit players, not teams. I do know many of our girls are shooting for D2 or D1. The 2 I know of that K is interested in are D1 and D2 but it's so early, who really knows.

I hope she's playing and I hope her ankle is doing great. fingers crossed.

My gut feeling is they are going to get in. Call it soccer intuition! :rotfl: But at least you are prepared.

We will see on both fronts!

The THVs have an internal bus that takes you to the SSR bus stop. Oh brother. We will definitely be driving to the parks. :rolleyes1

I'd be parking and walking versus the internal bus. I figure it's just as hot at the bus stop as it is to walk!

I am fine with waitlisting the VWL at AKL if that's what you want to do. If so, just say the word. VWL is the smallest resort so I think we have the better chance of getting all 4 nights at AKL. I'll let you decide.

No, I hate the idea of giving up VWL, especially since I'll be at AKV in August. I'll just cross fingers that the WL comes through at VWL for the one night instead.

Yes! :rotfl2: Actually, I don't think you are at all.
Well a red eye on the 17th really does work best and then I wouldn't be coming in early after all, I just wish there were flights that actually made that the best option as right now, the direct on the 16th is a better deal flight and time wise but it's really messing me up! I haven't booked anything yet waiting to see if soemthing changes and makes it better. Sigh. may book the return as I don't see that changing but hate to be locked in without booking them both at once.

I only left them out for less than a minute while I went to get labels. The rest of the time they were in my binder where I keep my patient information. Someone knew right where to look. Yup. I lock all my Rx up when I am not using them and I never take them home, so they disappeared from work.

that is just horrible, someone stalked it and planned it!

I've so enjoyed your Vacation Queue! As always the pictures were marvelous.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Williamsburg & plan to go back. It really is a grand learning experience.

I can't believe that you have all of those trips planned already. I have to plan something for the Fourth of July & just can't get going on it. I think it will be 2014 before we go back to WDW after this upcoming trip. I know I will miss it.:sad1:

You will enjoy traveling without worrying about school schedules any longer! We do most of our traveling in the off seasons now & it's so great!

Nick & his girlfriend looked so nice in the pron photos. I especially liked her dress, it was colorful, which I like!

I will be anxiously awaiting your other TR's.

I can't believe this TR is coming to an end. :sad2:

Your queue sounds like my queue for trips. :goodvibes

We are actually taking a lengthier Disney break too this time around. Sounds like sacrilege, but what can you do?

I love your TRs so much! You have so many great pictures and fun stories!!
Thanks so much for sharing - I especially loved the OKW pictures this time, since we're going there next time! And I will try a turtle crawl!

Your trip queue looks good! There are so many places I want to go too, the list never ends!! We've got Alaska, Hawaii, Disneyland, and more in our queue!

This is all over already??? :lmao: Seriously, though, thank you for sharing all of your wonderful travel adventures with us. Love the prom pictures, too. Sorry about the unfortunate work situation. Doesn't sound like any fun at all.

I love it, not go to Disney for a WHOLE year? :lmao: It just kills me that we all think of that as a long time...

And I cannot wait until October, either! I think its going to be a great trip for everyone. Still cannot believe how many folks are going to be there during that time period. And I'm so looking forward to our meet! :goodvibes

Hey friends - I have my final update planned for tomorrow! Can't believe I am finally bringing this TR to a close! :thumbsup2

I'm back and finally got caught up with your TR. Excellent, as usual! And now you'll be leaving soon. Can't wait until your next TR. I want to hear about the Treehouse Villas. We added a day to this last trip and had our choice of BLT or THV. DW and DD out-voted DDfiance and myself so we stayed at BLT. Slumming, right? :lmao: Speaking of this last trip, I'm trying to get all my pics sorted out to start the TR. Maybe I'll start it by the time you return! :sad2: Have fun.

ONE WEEK! Wow!

That's crazy about your prescriptions! I hope everything works out okay for you!

Hahah, DVC is just a confusing concept altogether for me. I think it's awesome that you get a TRIPLE resort stay!

All your future trips sound wonderful. So far my longest break in between Disney trips has been just over a year, and while I didn't prefer waiting that long, it was doable! And since you're actually trying to do it, it should (MAYBE) be even easier!

Thanks for your TR! Can't wait for your new one. :goodvibes

Hi Mary Ellen! I am all caught up and cannot believe your TR is over:sad2: I guess I just wish it would go on and on, I love them that much!! Looks like a great lineup of future vacations!!! Thanks again for sharing with us!

Can't believe this TR is finally over! It's been going on for so long! I'm looking forward to your next TR!

All the trips you have lined up for the next year or so sound amazing! :cool1: I keep saying I'm going to take a year off from Disney, but it never happens...if I end up going with my sister and niece in Feb. then that will definitely be my only Disney trip in 2013, I'll give Brandon a break and let him decide where we go for once! :rotfl: I really, really want to do a Disney cruise, and he does as well, so maybe we'll look into that!

I still wish I was going the week you will all be there for Food and Wine this year. I'll be missing you guys by like 2 weeks. :(

Love all the plans- especially the hhi ones:love:. I would love to go back there with pods- and I will...just not sure when! Good luck staying away from Wdw for a year- :rotfl2:

Always important to have ample trips in the queue! :thumbsup2 Can't believe your next one is in a week! :yay:

I am very excited that next week this time I will be on Disney property waiting for our treehouse to be ready. We are just going to chill at the resort until we can get everything in and unpacked. Then its off to MK

I think that's an awesome idea. I know Cynthia and I would love that. Sounds like a great way to experience F&W. :thumbsup2 I will be looking for more info on that one.

LOL on Max!!

You will sleep better. Will take a few days to figure out your number.

I'm sure it will take a little while to figure it out, but I am up for the challenge. :rotfl:

actuarial science.

those words in combination give me hives

LOL!

Go Nick

Sounds like he's got a good plan (and support from you!)

Well, I was pretty shocked when he said he wanted to be a Math major. :faint: Like that shocked :faint: and then he said he was interested in being an actuary, which, of course, I didn't even know what that was. But he is also very interested in computer science so he's also thinking electrical engineering and computer science (if he goes to the right school) or math/computer science. He's also strong in physics. Taking AP physics next year and the second AP calc course. So I think he should go more the academic route vs the soccer route.

It's funny what a difference a state can make. You don't think (or I didn't) about it that much but in putzing around about this upcoming tournament I'm seeing lots of griping about other states not being able to get in because of the state they are from and how the ranking and state leagues play into it.

There are been a few kids from the state of Delaware who have gotten into D1 schools but they were all in leagues in PA and they were all of color. Please don't think I prejudice, but african american soccer players (men) (IMHO) seem to have an advantage in ODP, premier leagues, and college recruitment.

Interesting. All I really know is there are 3 rankings, state, region and national. But ultimately they recruit players, not teams. I do know many of our girls are shooting for D2 or D1. The 2 I know of that K is interested in are D1 and D2 but it's so early, who really knows.

We will see on both fronts!

D1 1s crazy as far as commitment and travel. Plus, there is no way Nick is anywhere good enough for D1. He just isn't. There are a few D2 school locally but, interesting, they tend to be more commuter schools. In terms of academics, the D3 schools in this area have better academics and are more of what Nick is looking for. There is actually this one D3 school in PA called Messiah that puts out some of the best soccer players on the planet. Soccer there is a complete way of life. They is even a book called "the Messiah Method" which focuses completely on how to make a team work. Its a whole method of communication.

I'd be parking and walking versus the internal bus. I figure it's just as hot at the bus stop as it is to walk!

Totally walking - no internal bus stop for this girl.

No, I hate the idea of giving up VWL, especially since I'll be at AKV in August. I'll just cross fingers that the WL comes through at VWL for the one night instead.

It's possible it could come through and I am waitlisted until 7 days before and then I can call after that, so ya never know!

Well, if you do take the red eye you will have to head on over to VWL and you can always get us checked in. I'm not even going to unpack at AKL. :rotfl:

that is just horrible, someone stalked it and planned it!

Yup - that's exactly what happened. :sad2:

I've so enjoyed your Vacation Queue! As always the pictures were marvelous.

Thank you! So glad you enjoyed my TR!

I'm so glad you enjoyed Williamsburg & plan to go back. It really is a grand learning experience.

I can't wait to go back. Ideally I would like to go for 4 - 7 nights, but if I can go back for another long weekend I will be happy! :goodvibes

I can't believe that you have all of those trips planned already. I have to plan something for the Fourth of July & just can't get going on it. I think it will be 2014 before we go back to WDW after this upcoming trip. I know I will miss it.:sad1:

Well, two of the trips I mentioned are still tentative and subject to change, but I am the master at advanced planning these days.

You will enjoy traveling without worrying about school schedules any longer! We do most of our traveling in the off seasons now & it's so great!

That's what I'm talking about - ALL off season travel. It took a long time to get here and we are almost there!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Nick & his girlfriend looked so nice in the pron photos. I especially liked her dress, it was colorful, which I like!

Thanks! It really was a pretty dress and I LOVED her shoes. They were so cool. Of course, if I has a pair of shoes like that I would probably kill myself. :rotfl: One twisted or broken ankle coming right up.

I will be anxiously awaiting your other TR's.

Looks like I have a lot of writing in front of me and I know I won't finish the summer TR before October and Cynthia has a trip in July so she won't be ready to start the October TR either. I guess it will be a winter project.

I can't believe this TR is coming to an end. :sad2:

I'm so glad you enjoyed it and jumped right in there part way through!!!!!

Your queue sounds like my queue for trips. :goodvibes

We are actually taking a lengthier Disney break too this time around. Sounds like sacrilege, but what can you do?

Your queue really is a bit more exciting than mine with your upcoming Europe trip. I really can't wait to read about that.

As far as the lengthy break - sometimes you just do what you gotta do!

Denny and I are going to a friend's daughter graduation this afternoon so I'm going to stop here because I do have some chores to do first. Be back later with the rest of the replies! :goodvibes

Mary Ellen - Look forward to your report of your June trip! Wave to my son as you fly out of Allentown - he is taking summer courses at Lehigh over the summer as he is working a Co-op at G.E. in the fall.

Your upcoming trips sounds wonderful. Your ladies F&W sounds great - resort hopping can be fun. Also, love the idea of a cruise just you and Denny. :thumbsup2 This empty nest thing happens too fast.

I think that's an awesome idea. I know Cynthia and I would love that. Sounds like a great way to experience F&W. :thumbsup2 I will be looking for more info on that one.

Wednesdays huh....I'll need to factor that in as I figure out my flight plans once we know more about it!

I'd vote for electrical engineering/math myself. Lots more competition on the computer science side and I'm not sure it's as in demand. My ex BIL is an actuary. It's a tough road, years and years of tests. It does pay well though but the testing times were always a nightmare.

Then again I work for an engineering firm and know how hard it is to find the right people for what we do (forensic engineering) so I'm a bit biased!

There are been a few kids from the state of Delaware who have gotten into D1 schools but they were all in leagues in PA and they were all of color. Please don't think I prejudice, but african american soccer players (men) (IMHO) seem to have an advantage in ODP, premier leagues, and college recruitment.

No, I know you aren't. And there is a sad truth to reverse discrimination for things like this, it's hard to be a white boy heading into college these days depending on what you are going after. Both E's have their heart set on UW (though that could certainly change) and they are going to have their work cut out for them getting in.

I don't think K is good enough either but it's a little early to say that for sure. D2 maybe and D3 for sure. Unfortunately right now her top 2 picks academic wise are D1. The good news is she is focusing on that aspect first, soccer 2nd.

It's possible it could come through and I am waitlisted until 7 days before and then I can call after that, so ya never know!

Well, if you do take the red eye you will have to head on over to VWL and you can always get us checked in. I'm not even going to unpack at AKL. :rotfl:

This is true! Hopefully I'll have some answers over the next week or so.

Wow, you're going to need a vacation to rest up after all of these vacations! :rotfl:

Sounds like some awesome trips in your future. I loved following your report and getting to meet you this year!

What a great looking queue! We have no plans for WDW until 2014. :confused3 Not sure I am going to be able to stay away that long. I am trying to figure out a way to make it work prior to our cruise in November but not sure it will work with Tom's schedule. If not, DL will do next year and then 2 weeks in the summer of 2014.

Too bad about your prescriptions. There is a major problem of that in the area we live. The jail Tom works at is overcrowded now and most of it is due to drug/prescription drug abuse.

Wow, that seems odd that you can only park one car at the villa. Good to know.

:dance3:Yay, you are getting so close. I hope you have a great time and can't wait to read all about it when you return.

So nice of me to show back up just as you finish, huh? I'm still determined to go back and at least look at all of your amazing pictures! And I'll definitely be on board for your next one :thumbsup2
