Starbucks coming to WDW theme parks

When I worked at Target, we had a Starbucks in our store. The employees were Target employees although they did go through training with Starbucks. You could not use a Starbucks gift card in ours although we did accept Target gift cards for Starbucks products. You could also purchase a Starbucks gift card there. The same is true for our local Barnes & Noble. I'll guess Disney will be the same.

I've been using my Starbucks gift card for well over a year at several Targets in FL, IL, and TX.
I wonder what kind of agreement was reached between Disney and Starbucks. There is a Starbucks in Universal Orlando (inside the park) and it does not accept the Starbucks gift card.

Of course there WERE already a FEW places to get decent coffee in WDW, namely Kona, Kouzzina's and AKL. But I am hopeful that this means I will be able to get Chai Latte at WDW.

Great news, as I said in another thread - it is great the we will be able to drink real coffee at WDW.

As far as some complaining about the price - well, it is pretty simple - nobody is going to make you buy a cup of Starbucks coffee.

I am sure you can still pay way too much for really bad Nestle coffee somewhere in the parks.

They weren't going to start carrying coffee from my favorite little cafes around town, but it's a far sight better than Nescafe so I'll take it!

EXACTLY! I prefer locally well roasted coffee but I HATE that Nescafe swill. I am thrilled to be able to get a cuppa starbucks now.

All I can say is IT'S ABOUT FREAKING TIME! The thought of going a full week without my Starbucks was driving me crazy! I was thinking about going to the nearest store to buy my non-fat peppermint latte so I could function in the mornings!

I do take one issue with this. I've always enjoyed our Disney vacations because for one solid week I can sit back and the hardest decision I have to make is whether socks with crocks is acceptable or not. All that is going to change with: Mickey Bar, Dole Whip, or Iced Mocha Latte

Am I the only Disney fan upset by this? Don't get me wrong, I love Starbucks but for one second just think about it.

Walking onto Main Street, hearing the laughter, music, seeing that castle, seeing the period dress, seeing nothing that was invented past 1901. And then, out of the corner of your eye, you see a Starbucks logo. Which was invented way after 1901.

I, for one, am devestated by this news. It will be so out of place. I can't believe it's been allowed.

And the way Starbucks builds stores, there will be two on main street across from each other and one in each land. :lmao:

One of my favorite quotes from the movie "Best in Show"

We met at Starbucks. Not at the same Starbucks but we saw each other at different Starbucks across the street from each other.

I totally agree, Tink. I thought there would be more upset but it seems like the majority loves the idea. I just read they would be "themed" but still it doesn't sit right with me.

I think they know what's classy and what's not. The announcement specifically states that each location will be designed to suite the area. Betting they'll do something more like this:

Seattle coffee retailer Starbucks will open locations in each of the Walt Disney Co.'s six U.S. theme parks, the two companies announced Monday.

The first in-park Starbucks will open in June in Disney California Adventure, the second of two gates at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif.

Additional locations will follow at unspecified dates in Disneyland itself and in each of Walt Disney World's four theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Starbucks said many of its customers have asked for locations in Disney theme parks through MyStarbucksIdea.com, a 4-year-old company website. "So we are pleased to bring this idea to life," Arthur Rubinfeld, Starbucks' president of global development, said in a prepared statement.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Disney said each Starbucks location will have a unique theme to blend in with its theme-park surroundings. The California Adventure location, for instance, will be located in an eatery called the "Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Café," meant to evoke Los Angeles in the 1920s. The store will be built with Spanish/Mexican architecture and the Starbucks "baristas" brewing coffee will wear period costumes.

While these will be the first Starbucks coffee shops in Disney's domestic parks, the two companies have worked together elsewhere. In June 2009, Starbucks opened a store in Disneyland Paris' Disney Village.

Starbucks also operates two locations at Universal Orlando: One inside the "New York" section of Universal Studios Florida, the other in the resort's CityWalk retail district

Yay I know my husband will be happy to hear this!!! He won't have to drive me to a Starbucks before and after going to parks:banana::banana::banana:!

I also don't understand why this thread is on the community board-isn't that more about games and such? It should be under theme park attractions. I had do a search for the thread on Starbucks and I would never think to look under the community board.
