So, you get a $500 gift card to use towards the Enhancements? Basically, we are essentially getting a $1,000 gift card and then a $500 gift card? Holy cow!! WOW!! The things we can do with $1,500 at Disney.

As I was typing this post, I got an email from my contact for the DL trip; said she received 23 planning papers yesterday and it takes about 72 hours for them to send a confirmation with the dates. Encouraging or not?

Wow! They got 23 papers yesterday? Now I wish I'd sent mine in earlier. I don't know why I waited all day. 72 hours takes us to Saturday. I wonder if they even work on the weekends. Ugh, I think we might just all go crazy with the waiting!

When I asked about the DTD shopping spree, our DL rep didn't tell me that the GC could be used anywhere, but I'm almost positive that it can. Plus, they don't expire so if you have anything left over you can use it for your next Disney trip or the Disney Store.

Yes, 72 hours puts me into Saturday, which means it will probably be next week before I hear anything. I can't imagine that it would be easy to put restrictions on a gift card. Which means, if it is not all used up, then it can be used on the next trip, or at the Disney Store, etc. Yippee!! However, I'm pretty sure that it will not take much to go through $1,500 being at Disney for 5 days.

I thought I had read somewhere in the rules that the shopping spree one expired, but that was before we knew it was a gift card. I may just use $60 of mine to buy the Photopass CD that I always come home and buy. I'm going to have to do some calculating and figure out how much of my $1500 I have spent in my head with all the character meals, makeovers, and now Halloween party tickets. Plus, it would probably be nice if we had other dinners, non-character. Did I read somewhere that if you charge stuff back to your room, you can use a gift card to pay for that at the end of your stay? So, if we had dinner at a restaurant in PPH or DLH, we could charge our room for it?

I was sucking up to them in my email today, and told them they are all wonderful and doing an awesome job, even though I've only talked to one and emailed another, and the one emailed back and said I had talked to everyone in the department. The thing to do would be to use the $500 one first if it expires, and then start on the $1,000 one. Yes, you can charge all your purchases, meals, etc. to your room. You have to put a credit card on file when you check in and then you can use your room key EVERYWHERE to charge purchases to your room. But, if you don't settle your room charges with your gift card the night before you check out, all the charges will go on your credit card. I think the cut off time to settle is like 10 PM or something and then their system starts charging room purchases to the credit card on file.

There are some churro and M&M ice cream bar stands that will take your room charge... I've charged popcorn to my room just so I didn't have to carry cash around the park!

I wonder what they do for a winner that doesn't want to fly? (We drive 17 hours to WDW.) Have they mentioned alternative to airfare in your paperwork?

I think the coolest job to have at Disney right now would be the job of arranging all the winners' trips. Wouldn't it be fun to be responsible for making magic for so many people?

Wow, 23 planning papers. Maybe I need to stop reading everyone's posts. Now I'm really starting to stress out that we won't get our dates. We are still waiting on our initial letter from DL since I won on February 7 and sent back our choice on the 20th because we were traveling when we heard we won. Trying to find dates that work with office schedules of 4 adults has been so hard. I'm really going to be disappointed if they turn down on date options. Just got to keep telling myself to think positive and not stress.

If I remember correctly, if you do not want to fly, they give you an allowance of $200 to cover expenses while traveling (I think that's what the amount was).

I do travel planning for 50 people at my job and I really like it. It would be great to do travel planning for Disney guests; just to hear how excited they are when they get exactly what they want!

My problem is trying to plan vacation time off in the summer with 4 other people in the office as well. I can't set anything in stone because I have no idea when I'm going and that's kind of holding the others up as well. The others are kind of flexible as to when they can take off; I'm really not since it's up to Disney to tell me when I'm vacationing now.

Just keep telling yourself that there are only 60 sets of 4 people going on these trips, and not all 60 are going to the same place. So then take into account that of the probably half that are doing DL, not all of us are going the same dates. I want to arrive the same day watkinsme is checking out. They've blacked out holidays, which will cut down on peak season travel. I think our odds of getting the dates we want are probably pretty good.

Yep, you can charge almost anything back to your room. We charged ice cream and popcorn to the room this past weekend. Almost all places take gift cards, except some of the carts that have the light-up toys and maybe the balloon people. I can't remember if you get your GC balance on your receipt every time you use it, but I think you do.

Don't ask the question if you don't want to hear the answer! Seriously, though, it is funny that you can charge the smallest things to your room. I guess they figure if you are paying $6 for an ice cream bar, etc. then the least they could do is let you charge it to your room to make it convenient.

I am sooooo in the same boat. Have you tried calling your contact? You are going to WDW too right? I keep forgetting who is going where!
