Got an email from the WDW contact. Our trip is booked for December!!!!! We chose AKL and that is what we have. We love that place. I won't be totally excited till I receive comfirmation numbers. We also added on extra nights.

So happy for you! Loved it there. Since you are the first I've seen for the WDW trip. :thumbsup2 I was curious since pp have said that it has to be for a Saturday stay over, can you confirm that?? If you can't- is there a way to ask your WDW contact? :confused3 I am sooo nervous about making my dining ressies and it changes the dates I have chosen for when I receive my paperwork. I know pp said it was on DL paperwork and they said it applied to both.

I heard from my contact from DL - she said baggage fees are not included and are out of pocket expenses.
we are going try and avoid this and pack lightly - we may buy a bag there if needed for things we buy and pay for one checked bag if we have to.

It's cheaper to pack lightly and do laundry once or twice than it is to pay to check a bag. Also, if you buy stuff at Disney, they will ship it to your home, which will probably also be cheaper than buying a new bag and paying to check it on the plane.

I plan on poacking lightly and doing laundry; $6 to wash clothes is a lot better than $50-$75 to pay for an extra bag to pack stuff we may or may not wear. Of course, I only have three people to pack for so I can say it's easy to do.

Just an idea to think about in your planning...

By the way, people who doubt they will win (people like me :p) You should enter some more Disney Sweepstakes. Latina magazine has a Disney sweepstakes going on, A 4-night trip for 6 to the winner's choice of Walt Disney World in Florida or Disneyland in California. The prize includes airfare, ground transportation, hotel stay, 5-Day Magic Your Way Tickets with Park Hopper Option, a $1,000 Disney gift card, a Disney PhotoPass CD and a Disney's PhotoPass book, a Disney VIP Tour Guide for up to eight hours on one day, and a Disney Character Dining experience. Enter here: http://www.latina.com/magicalmemories

There are others too, Disney Cruise Lines has one going on for a cruise aboard the Disney Magic from NYC to the Bahamas (including one day at WDW.) 8 nights for that one, I believe. Anyways, look at all of them here. http://contests.about.com/od/vacationsweepstakes/tp/DisneySweepstakes.htm

The page is updated every time a new contest comes up. The page is just not about vacations, it has anything to do with Disney.

Thank you for the links! I am still one of those hopefuls! =)

No problem! I just doubt it'll happen, however, I am hoping that a Fed-ex truck comes up to my house today!!! You never know, but, with it almost ending - I don't know, probably won't happen.

We went with my parents 2 years ago and they used Disney transportation. It just about drove DH and I mad waiting around for them! We're just not accustomed to having that extra time sucked out of our vacation! I'm warming up to the idea of having my super awesome comfy minivan for the trip!

On a side note, I'm glad you got your info squared away and now you can start planning!

Driving would definitely be a better idea with the kids, luggage, car seats, etc.; so much less of a hassle! And, you don't have to pay for parking at the parks since you will be in a Disney hotel.

Stay positive!!! (I say this as I start to get bummed realizing that I have almost zero chance of winning at this point. It helps to realize that I'm rarely lucky and have yet to ever really win anything).

December is one of the worst possible times to go to WDW! It is wall to wall people and the lines are 90 minutes long. I guess everyone likes to go and see the Christmas decorations; it's pretty, but very crowded!!

Personally, December is our favorite time to go to WDW. Yes, it's crowded like that the week between Christmas and New Year's, but we go a week to 10 days before Christmas, and it's always awesome!! It gets crowded the last day or so, but not bad at all the first several days.

HeHe I love Google! My whole family knows if they ask me any thing I'm like- Hold on, let me google it.:goodvibes

I just googled "smiley impatiently waiting" then see what it finds or go to images. It's fun to see what pops up.

I just purchased our YES program (for grandson) and tickets for Oct. 13-20th this year, we're going to try that out. It sounds like a great program and the savings was fantastic.
My DH and I are taking our 2 grandkids- 11 and 5 to WDW- for sure now- but are waiting on our reservations. My DD has a timeshare that trades into Disney resorts and in 2009 we did that and loved it but this time we are having a hard time getting an availibility. I will book through Disney if I get a pin or something but still hoping for the DVC one bedroom.

Are your grandkids in the Phoenix area too? Are you going during fall break, next school year?

I looked at the Touringplans website and they estimate the resort level will be 7 and the parks 6.5 to 7 out of 10. It stays at that level until December 22. Hope that helps. :)

Thanks. Wow, that's a big difference from when I went to Disneyland in February and levels were 1-2 or sometimes 3. Well, it is the holidays.

I was away from the computer for an evening and so many pages have been added to the thread. It's so much fun to read all the posts! :rotfl:

I had the same thought! LOL. Regarding that, have any of the winners entered just to see if it would let you?

I actually got my winning email before I entered that day, so I never even tried, but from what the Ventura contact said, I could have entered, but if my name was picked again, it would have been rejected.

I can confirm that a Saturday is required. WDW sent me their paperwork erroneously, so I have a copy of it.

Here is one of the last paragraphs from the actual letter you will receive from WDW:

Attached you will find a travel questionnaire; please complete and return this form by March 30, 2012 so we can begin confirming arrangements for your magical vacation. Please note, substitutions or transfers of this prize are not permitted. Keep in mind that once your questionnaire is received and airline tickets issued, you are responsible for any fees associated with changes to your itinerary. Travel dates must include a Saturday night stay. Confirmation is subject to hotel and airline availability.

Just curious, I noticed on the website where it displays the winners names it only lists about 22 or 23. Does that mean the other people haven't claimed their prize?

Some of the individuals in this thread aren't showing yet, so it's more likely they just haven't been updating the website.
