Quick Service Dining Plan - A Review & Pictures - 14 Days in August 2011

That evening we went over to Port Orleans French Quarter for dinner. Dinner time was relatively quiet. The food court is much smaller than the one at POR but they had some nice choices.

DH had a made to order pizza (yes pizza again!) 2 of my kids got hot dogs, & myself & my oldest DD got the cheese quesadillas which were sooo good!!! Very cheesy served with beans, "dirty rice", salsa, & sour cream. Delicious!

We all got ice cream for dessert. They had handscooped chocolate, vanilla, cookies & cream, & strawberry. 2 large scoops counts as 1 cs credit.

POFQ is a beautiful resort & worth the trip over there (we drove straight from the park but you can walk if you are staying at POR).

This meal was just over $70. Love that bill with all the zeros on it! :woohoo:

I forgot to add this to our AK day....

Snack credit - Pretzel - we got this near the safari.

DH got a jalepeno stuffed pretzel. He said he liked the cream cheese filled ones better at Magic Kingdom but it was good.

I just read all of your reviews, and now I'm hungry too  I can not wait to try some of those delicious desserts you have pictured.

I'm loving all of these photos and reviews! Thanks so much! It's so helpful to see all of these meals and know they were on the QSDP, which is what we will have as well :goodvibes

Thanks for the review of Norway
I've never considered eating there before but it's just got added to my list :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for posting this review. We have our first Onsite stay with QSDP in Feb12 so it is great to see the range of food available!! I think alot of people are under the illusion thats its all burgers and fries so it is great to prove them wrong - lol!!
I am really supirsed at the amount of food that you get for 1 CS Credit - we never eat desserts at home but am guessing we will have to make an exception for those two weeks in Feb - rude not to really!
I look forward to reading the rest!!

The flexibilty of the plan cannot be beat. Next year the QSDP will only have one snack rather than two. We had 14 snack credits at the end which we used on candy & nuts at the POR store. I think alot of people end up with many snacks leftover so Disney figured they'd save money & get rid of the 2nd snack. Honestly we didn't really need it since dessert was included at lunch & dinner.

Great reviews! You ate at lots of my favorite CS places. :goodvibes
Thank you!

Neither did we & so glad we stopped there. Now it is a must do for us every trip.

Well you can get fruit instead of a dessert at most places if you really want to be good on vacation. ;) There was a good variety for CS as we were all Disney adults. I noticed however that the choices for kids (3-9) were pretty repetitive throughout the parks.

Holy cow that squirrel is just adorable!! enjoying all the pics.. Why do I suddenly really want a meatball sub? LOL

I think we had dinner at the Riverside Mill (POR foodcourt) at least 3 times. We really enjoyed the choices there.

Made to order pasta station.

Of course here is another alfredo pasta I ordered. :thumbsup2

Chocolate cake for dessert.

My DS got a chocolate ice cream sundae for his dessert.

After dinner we caught some of Bob Jackson's show at the River Roost. The man has sooooooo much energy & his show is a lot of laughs. :goodvibes

On our next Magic Kingdom day we had lunch at Pinnochio's but I forgot to take pictures. I had a meatball sub. (surprise!) :rolleyes1 My kids got the penne & meatballs. DH ordered the mediterranean salad with mixed greens, chicken, roasted red pepper, black olives and red onions, mozzarella cheese. He thought it was a veggie salad so he had to pick all the chicken out. They had the same standard chocolate cake but none of us had any. We were too "chocolate caked out" at that point.

After touring the Magic Kingdom since ropedrop I decided it would be a good idea to have dinner at Gaspirilla's over at the Grand Floridian. We took the boat over (had the whole boat to ourselves :lovestruc) from MK.

We looked around the lobby & shops for a bit before dinner. It took us awhile to find Gasparilla's as it is out the main building & around the corner by the marina. The place was small with about 8 tables or so. Only 2 families were there when we came in. There are also a few video games next to the seating that kept my guys busy while DH & I lingered over our desserts.

My 2 younger kids got a hot dog & chicken nuggets. My oldest DD & I got the floridian club sandwich with turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and an avocado ranch dressing served on multi-grain toast. This was very very yummy.
830.jpg

DH had the tabbouleh pita - tabbouleh, cucumber, garbanzo beans, and cilantro mint raitha . Both sandwiches came with potato chips & a mozzerella & tomato salad on the side.
829.jpg

There was a variety of cupcakes but I only got a picture of mine. This was delicious!!! There was raspberry filling inside...yummy. Wish I had one now!
831.jpg

They also had a smore's cupcake which was huge & had big marshmallows on top. Kids ate it too fast to get a picture.

This was a great choice for dinner. Not rushed, not crowded, & the food was very good & prepared to order. :thumbsup2

Wow..I may have to check out this place just for the cupcakes alone! I never even knew it existed! Plus we're always looking for somewhere different to eat for lunch or dinner while at the MK. So we just get the boat at the MK docks?
Great update:cool1:

Yes, the boat launch for the GF & Poly are to the right of the exit at the MK. Of course you can also take the monorail as well.

Thank you for your reviews. We also did the qsdp on our recent trip and we loved it! It worked so well for us and there are so many places you can eat at that offer a variety of meal options. We certainly didn't eat burgers and chicken nuggets all week  We also love the snack options at MK. Dole Whip floats from Aloha Isle and cinnamon rolls from Main Street Bakery were our favorites :lovestruc

We had never been to Lotus Blossom Cafe before so we thought we'd give it a try for dinner one evening in Epcot. We chatted with the CM's there for awhile while our food was being prepared. They were so friendly & helpful with my questions about the menu. :goodvibes We got our chopsticks & dug in!

4 of us got the orange chicken over rice. My 2 younger kids got this without the sauce. It was pretty good.
921.jpg

DH got the vegetable stir fry over steamed rice. He liked it.
922.jpg

The offering for dessert was strawberry red bean ice cream & caramel ginger ice cream. We got both to share. The strawberry red bean tasted just like strawberry frozen yogurt. :) The caramel ginger was a bit strong. 2 of us liked it, 3 didn't.

There was plenty of seating & the food was hot & fresh tasting. Combine that with friendly CM's & this was a great choice for our CS credits. We would definately return.

So this brings me to the end of my reviews of the QSDP. We had a few meals where I did not take any pictures. Depending on the place & time of day counter service meals can get a bit chaotic so I neglected to take pictures.

Columbia Harbor House - MK
We ate here again another night. No pictures as we mostly got the same things we ate earlier in the trip. Love, love, love CHH!!

Sunshine Seasons - Epcot
We grabbed a quick dinner here one evening right before Epcot was closing. The girls got chicken caesar salads. DH got a tofu & noodle veggie bowl. He said he would have liked more noodles & less tofu. I ordered the spicy cashew chicken with vegetables & udon noodles. I think since it was the end of the night I got a pretty small portion (not like what I have seen on the DIS in pictures) It was ok but I only got 4 -1 inch peices of chicken in it. My DS asked if he could have the kid's panini so they gave him 2 sandwiches since he had an adult credit. I thought that was pretty cool that there was flexibilty. My kids did want a few kids meals during the trip. I was not concerned about maximizing our credits, I just wanted everyone to have what they liked. This worked out well since the CM's told us we could get a kid's meal but add things to it to make it an adult credit. :thumbsup2

Backlot Express - DHS
This was a late start at DHS. We got there around 12:45pm just in time for the Indiana Jones Stunt show. A few rides on Star Tours (which is awesome) & we were hungry. We headed over to Backlot for some cool indoor dining. It was packed & it took awhile to find a seat. We must have been there around 2-3pm? DH ordered the grilled vegetable sandwich with basil asiago artisan bread, mushrooms, red peppers, zucchini, tomato, watercress and cheese with sundried tomato pesto, & french fries. He said it was good. I had the grilled turkey & cheese on multigrain ciabatta with arugula and red peppers & french fries. I liked this a lot. Again we met some really friendly CM's at the register here. :goodvibes I had an anniversary button on & they all made a big deal about it. :goodvibes I don't remember what my kiddies got. We split the desserts (Yes I always remember what I had for dessert!) We had strawberry parfait & marble cheesecake. DH like his parfait & the rest of us had cheesecakes. We all thought the cheesecake tasted a bit like ice cream. I wanted another cupcake from Starring Rolls so I only took a bite of the cheesecake to save room. However by the time (maybe 5pm) we got over there it was closed. They apparantly close earlier than the other eateries in DHS. We ended up having popcorn from the popcorn cart & milkshakes from Min & Bill's Dockside Diner later in the evening. The chocolate one was soooooo good. DH got a beer & it started to pour & I mean pour. The kids & I were in one of the stores (with all the ponchos) & he got soaked. The CM where he got the beer felt bad for him I guess & gave him another beer on the house. :cool2:

Electric Umbrella - Epcot
My kids love Innoventions so after some time on Sum of all Thrills & Where's the Fire we ended up here for lunch. Food was hot & delicious. Seating upstairs was quiet & relaxed.

Oh & of course there were a few more Dole Whip Floats in there as well!
Final thoughts coming up.

Yep, that was our guy! ;)

That is just too cute & too funny! Thanks for posting that picture!
I was really surprised at how brazen he was. No amount of "shoo-shooing" him would work..He was waiting to be paid off! :rotfl:

He was too funny he entertained us for about 30 minutes while waiting for our Le Cellier ADR. My son thought he was a hoot.
