24 Desserts and 124 Food Pics!! A June 2011 Dining Report**Pics Back & Complete 8/17

Now that I finally got all of my pictures uploaded and resized, I can get the show on the road.

Our plane out of Minneapolis landed at 11am. After we got our luggage, got on Magical Express, and got the hotel we probably ate around 12:30 or so. I love Pop Century food court and get the same meal every single time I go!

I ordered the Penne Chicken Alfredo with extra sauce.
DisneyJune2011006.jpg

I love this meal and could eat it all the time!! It is so good. The only downside to this is it is hard to cut the chicken with the plastic Disney silverware. It isn't exactly the best quality. The alfredo sauce is very good and it is perfect with the chicken and penne noodles.
For dessert I ordered the infamous Tie Dyed Cheesecake. Dessert Count=1
DisneyJune2011007.jpg

I enjoyed the taste and flavour of this but it was hard for me to eat bright food colored cheesecake. I didn't want to get my mouth dyed. That took away a little bit from the taste just because of the color. It was definitely good though and I would get it again. Actually, as you will see later, I did!!
I also got a refillable mug in the pink color. These new mugs are so cute.
DisneyJune2011008.jpg

Dad got a meatball sub with a side salad with italian dressing I believe.
DisneyJune2011005.jpg

He scarfed this down and didn't have any complaints! It actually looks pretty good and I don't even like meatball subs. The salad is already tossed in the dressing so you don't have any options for other dressing besides italian. He also got a fruit cup for the dessert option.

I think the Tye Dyed Cheesecake is $3.59. The Chicken Penne Alfredo is $8.39 according to Wdwinfo. The meatball sub is $8.29. Our total was $27.96 for two and that was entirely covered by the dining plan. The refillable mug came to a total of $14.90. I only refilled my mug three times the entire trip. I don't want to carry my mug around to the parks and when I get back I don't want to walk all the way back to the food court just for a drink. If we were thirsty we just bough a drink on the way back from the parks. I just buy the mug more as a souvenir.

When I checked in my dad waited behind and was approached by these Disney research people. They wanted him to fill out this food journal with the amount that we spent at Disney outside of the dining plan. He volunteered me to do this so now I have this food journal to fill out purchases outside of the dining plan. It seems like a lot of work but we get a $25 gift certificate after we send it in, which doesn't really seem enough actually.

I forgot to mention that we booked during a free dining period so we had the dining plan for $11/day because we upgraded to the regular dining plan.

I'm in! How very cool of your parents to keep their promise even after divorce! My parents divorced when I was 3 ... many years ago! They are now very good friends but it too a while to get there and I don't know that they would vacation together!

Can't wait for the reviews!
Thanks for joining!! I have a feeling my parents are very abnormal! I dont think they consider them friends by any means but they still get along.

Wow, this sounds awesome!

How nice that your parents still get along...that is so great!

Thanks for reading!

Awesome! Can't wait.

On another note your parents give me hope. My parents got divorced after 39 years of marriage, 7 grand children and 1 great grandchild. They don't speak unless they have to. :(

Any who back to your soon to be, most spectacular dining report!!

Wow!! Thats is a very long time of marriage!! I hope one day they will be able to speak for your sake.

Really looking forward to your report - especially the 24 desserts!:lmao:

It can be difficult going with several adults and trying to keep them all happy!

Yes it was difficult but fun!! The 24 desserts really outdid me!

I'm in.

Youre in for some fun! Hopefully.

can't wait!

Thanks!!

Yay I have readers!

I'm here...Bring it on!!

Thanks for coming along!

This sounds great, I'm looking forward to it! Good for you for organizing a trip of 6 adults, I know it can be stressful, especially when everyone has different vacationing styles!

It was a little stressful but I am glad we went. My dad is not exactly in shape so he got a little cranky at points with the heat and walking so that lead to a little more stress.

I organized a trip for 10 before (2 kids & 8 adults).... well lets just say, I wont do that again :rolleyes1

Live & Learn ;)

cant wait for your reviews :goodvibes

Haha! I don't think I could every organize a trip for that many!!

popcorn:: Count me in too!
Thanks for joining!!

Great start - I must admit, I have always fancied the tie dye cheesecake at Pop but never had it for the same reason as you were reluctant. So, did it dye your mouth?

Am looking forward to the remaining reviews :thumbsup2

Count me in!!! :cool1: I love your pics and the food looks great. I have always wanted to stay at Pop. I can't wait to read more.

Count me in too! You've got a few of my favourite places to eat on your list and some that I'd like to try so I'm anxiously waiting for more...:goodvibes

Back from my lunch at Raising Canes with gelato at Mall of America, now it is time to add some more to this dining review.

Dinner was Teppan Edo at 4:40. I was a little worried about the early time for this but when I was randomly checking available reservations this popped up so I grabbed it because I wanted to add one new restaurant. We cancelled Les Chefs de France for this.

I planned to leave about 3:45. Well...Dad had to work and was waiting for a phone call to have a quick conference call. Well, that turned into 4:00 which led to 4:10 and still NO call!! I decided I had enough so I left with my sister and her BFF. We got to Teppan Edo at 4:50. WOW that is a long walk to the World Showcase from the front of the park. And we were running. I went to check in but she said she couldn't check us in until the rest of the family was there, which I figured.

Time kept going by and still no family. Finally they texted me that their bus got there and my dad wanted me to make up some story that he fell and twisted his ankle so they would still seat us..I didn't! I finally get a text message that they were in England..then Canada..then finally at 5:12 they got there!! Dad was pouring sweat..I felt bad for him.

Thankfully we checked in and they sat us right away!! That was very nice for us being 33 minutes late!

I was surprised Tokyo Dining and Teppan Edo shared a waiting area. It was very pretty in Tokyo Dining.

Here are some menu shots.

We wanted to try the sushi so I get the sushi roll sampler. Dad ordered the Sushi Roll sampler as well but he must have said the Sushi Sampler. You should have seen his face when chunks of raw fish came out! LoL!
DisneyJune2011025.jpg

The sushi roll sampler is $7.50 and includes some cooked beef, California roll, and Spicy Tuna. This was definitely not the best sushi I have had. I did not like that beef roll and everything else was very dry and the roll did not stay together when I dipped it in soy sauce.
I then ordered the Shrimp and Steak, steak cooked medium. For some reason I did not take pictures of the meat, only the veggies and noodles.

DisneyJune2011026.jpg

I honestly did not care for this portion of the meal. Yes, it was good, but not as good as your local Japanese steakhouse. Every other Japanese steakhouse i went to comes with soup and salad. This one does not. Also, the chef didn't really do anything. All he did was an onion smokestack and he really didn't say anything the rest of the time. He just wasn't that entertaining. We were probabaly dissapointed in the chef because I have a feeling the entertaining aspect of the steakhouses is more American than authentic Japanese.

The food was good but it was just expensive compared to a Japanese steakhouse that you would be used to.

Next comes dessert! One of the reasons I wanted to come was to try the Green Tea Pudding, which was $6.95. Dessert Count #2.
DisneyJune2011033.jpg

It wasn't amazing but it was good! It is like flan and it has a very light taste. It is hard to describe.
Dad and Josh ordered the Chocolate Ginger Cake.
DisneyJune2011034.jpg

I tried a bite and it was very good!! I would get that if I ever go back there. The light chocolate is like a mousse and I didn't even taste the ginger.
Everyone else got ice cream.
DisneyJune2011031.jpg

My steak (sirloin) and shrimp was $29.95, my green tea pudding was $6.95, and my diet coke was $2.95. This meal was definitely a great value for the dining plan!! It wasn't the best but it was still good.

I would rate this meal a 2 out of 4. It wasn't anything special and we could get better locally. It was still good though!

Teppan Edo looks pretty good! We have a hibachi place by us that we go to a lot, so it's a little disappointing to hear that Teppan Edo doesn't do quite as much as the local places. At my place we get soup and salad too, and lots of tricks/entertainment. Teppan Edo is a place I'd like to try eventually, but it's not very high on my list right now.

Now time for Crystal Palace breakfast! We were actually on time for this one, although I was worried we weren't going to be on time because of the mad rush inside MK. I also only reserved this breakfast for 2 but my brother came along so we needed it for 3. They let us have a table for 3 no problem! We got sat about 10 minutes after I checked in.
DisneyJune2011043.jpg

I was surprised about the price only being $22.99. I thought it was supposed to be $26.99 because it was supposed to be the start of peak season (June 3rd). I guess it wasn't peak afterall.

I love Crystal Palace. It is so pretty in there. I have been to dinner there twice before so I thought I would do breakfast here to get fueled up before the park.
First plate:
DisneyJune2011044.jpg

The fruit was very good. They have four bowls: One with cantaloupe and honedew, one with pineapple, a berry mixture with blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, and one with watermelon. The smoked salmon was also good, being this the first time I have ever had smoked salmon.
Second plate:
DisneyJune2011045.jpg

This food on here was sooo good! There was the famous Poohs Puffed French Toast. I just ate that plain, it was that good. There was also a vegetable corned beef hash scrambled egg mixture, which was so good! It had squash, corned beef hash, green peppers, and scrambled eggs.
Third Plate:
DisneyJune2011048.jpg

This plate was pretty gross. I do not like the chocolate mickey waffles. The redskin potatoes were the only thing decent on this plate.
We also got to meet Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore. My dad and brother loved this!
DisneyJune2011052.jpg

My dad's birthday was 6 days before this trip and I wanted him to have a birthday celebration here so CP was closest so he got a bday card and a cupcake!
DisneyJune2011057.jpg

Here are some pictures of the buffet.

Overall Crystal Palace was a great breakfast. My dad and brother were obsessed with the breakfast pizza. Our waiter was very good and he let me order coffee and orange juice for breakfast.

I would rate this breakfast a 3 out of 4!

Great reviews!:thumbsup2

I was interested in Teppan Edo - we are hoping to get to Tokyo Dining at some point in the future.

Teppan Edo looks kinda meh, except that chocolate ginger cake stuff, that looks amazing! We have 2 restaurants like that by us that are quite good, so I will probably not bother to eat there.

Your CP pics are making me very excited for our trip back there in October! My boyfriend and I went there on our last trip without the kids for breakfast and are excited to take the kids there. I love that Pooh's Puffed French Toast! It's like funnel cake for breakfast! :lovestruc

Just got caught up ....great reviews so far. I am also a fan of the puffed french toast. Yum! We go tp CP for breakfast every trip. Looking forward to the rest of your reviews. :)

The breakfast at Crystal Palace looks delicious! I never have an appetite in the morning, so we don't usually do any big breakfasts in Disney. Someday I may have to make an exception!

I am loving your reviews so far! Makes me wish I hadn't abandoned my own food report months ago... :(

I see what you mean about Teppan Edo - one of my husband's rules is 'if we can get this at home, let's avoid it at Disney'. Which is why we stay away from, for instance, the Italian restaurant (I could probably pay way less for the same thing at home!). Looking at this review makes me glad we do it that way!

You're pictures are awesome! I'm looking forward to Ohana and Karamelle Kuche. Please don't abandon me, I'm hooked! :surfweb:
