May 2011 Code Watch

I have free dining now for four nights over Memorial Day week at CSR for us and our two teenagers. I can't decide if I should drop free dining and take the room discount instead and upgrade to AKL, WL or OKW for the extra money. My kids will need tickets, but my husband and I have AP's. My family was balking at staying at a moderate. I know it would be cheaper to use the free dining, but I do like the deluxes! :thumbsup2

I was able to use the Kids stay/play free code for our 5/1-5/6 package and the room only discount for our 5/6-5/10 room only reservation!!!

:cool1::cool1::woohoo::dance3:

Just booked under the newest code (there is a separate thread on the code - I think the range is 15% - 35% depending on resort and resort level). For our hotels, CBR was 20% off, Poly 25% off (other deluxes are 30% off, except AKL which is also 25%). We saved about $1200 off our Poly rate. We also have a reservation at CBR for my parents and switched that one, too. They don't have any BLT rooms available at all at the new rates, and no pirate themed water view rooms at CBR. I believe the code is YFW for May, but in case my recollection is off, check the other thread! This offer is not posted on the Disney site yet, but is posted on the Disboard.

Olive - can you please provide a link to this thread? This is the first that I've heard about this new code.

Thanks!

I just called to try and use the new room discount and found I had a pin to my name!!!! ended up getting 40% off Wilderness for May 8-13.:woohoo:

Does anyone else find it odd that general public discounts have been released for May but nothing for Annual Passholders?

I applied the discount to our trip (5 nights at Poly, 9 nights at CSR) and saved $818. This even includes having to purchase 4 one day tickets which we won't use because we're annual pass holders.

Thank you for this thread!! I just booked for my birthday at Pop 5/22-5/27!! My total for a standard room was $472. Good luck to everyone else!!

Thanks for the updates everyone!!! I had also received the Disney Visa offer over the weekend while I was away on vacation - but was even happier to read about the Room Only discounts!!! FINALLY! It wasn't as much as I had hoped for - only 25% at Poly - but still good enough!!! Talked it over my family and we are booked - upgraded to Club level!!! Yippee!

Finally booked!!! The codes for kids free that are listed here didn't work for me but they found a kids free code that did. (KX6) So excited to officially be booked!!!!!

Same thing here! I had a great CM who hunted for a code that worked for my travel dates. KX6 saved me almost $500! :thumbsup2

Thank goodness a public room discount for us May people! Woohoo!!! I just booked our week at the Beach Club. I am beyond thrilled!! Now off to plan the little details ...

Where have you read that there is a promo code for free dining for kids too? I don't think there is one. And even if there is you can't usually combine 2 codes.

i must have read wrong.. maybe it's just the stay/play free promo i was seeing. oops! knew it must have been too good to be true :) however.. i do remember last year they did a kids stay/play/dine free if i am remembering correctly...
still excited to get SOME kind of discount. i have always booked package deals including dining. do most do this or book separately? i tried doing annual passes one year to take advantage of the resort discounts, bought regular park hoppers for everyone else plus a dining discount card & i only ended up saving a couple hundred bucks do book everything a la carte. IMO it's easier to book the packages & be done. but this time i really want to make sure i am getting the best deal since this is a total SQUEEZE in trip..
any advice?? i have been going to disney for years but just can't wrap my brain around what's the best way to go!!

The code isn't the same as last year. I wish!!!! I'd love to get free dining for the kids too! You just have to crunch the numbers and figure out which code is going to work best for you. It all depends on where you stay and how many kids you are taking. I HATE having to do the math but it's worth it to save money. We saved a little over $500 with kids free! :D

I find it annoying, but not really odd, since they seem to keep doing this lately. :sad2:

I just rebooked as a "room only" for May and hopefully I'll be able to change to a passholder rate.

I'm thinking about adding dining when and if passholders rates come out, but then I have a TIW card and I'm not sure if I'd save more money with my card or the DDP. I know my daughter and I tend to like the cheapest meals on the TS menus, so I wouldn't make any money off the two of us. ;)

Just rebooked 4/28-5/2 at Pop Century, originally I was at All-Star Music but the new code for room only didn't apply to any of the values during that time period, except at Pop Century, so we're going back there but would have liked to have tried a different value resort, oh well, I saved over $150 just in room only by switching from ASMu to POP.

There is a new offer on the Disney website under "special offers":

"Save up to 40% on late spring or late summer travel at select Disney Resort hotels for stays most nights April 28 to June 14, 2011 and August 14 to October 1, 2011. Book by March 27, 2011."

I am so confused.. I booked through AAA several months ago.. I am going to CSR in Early May for 8 nights.. I so desperately wanted to stay at the Deluxe but the numbers just weren't allowing for it.. Then about 2 months ago.. I got a pin and saved 25% off my room, which saved me about $300.. For the past couple of days I have been reading about all the new codes and offers out there.. I realized when I pulled out my PIN code that I had a 40% off for the Villas.. I thought, what the heck, I will just see.. Well, I called and of course Disney TA's couldn't help because I am already booked with AAA and they can only change your ressie or give you info.. So, I called AAA and had another agent help me.. I did a room only package online and then just discounted the 40% and was totally psyched because I thoought that it was only going to be around $700 more.. Well, it was well over $1000 and that was at the Boardwalk, which was my last choice.. The beachclub, my first choice was $ 1200 more and forget about AK or WL they were even more expensive, took the air right out of my sail.. I was so excited!! But, I just can't justify over $1000 more just for aroom that we will hardly use..:(
