~We seldom report of having eaten too little~Sept 2010~COMPLETED 10/21~

Good Morning! Good Morning!

It's great to stay up late....well, not so much actually :lmao: not when you stay up until 1am packing and then get up at 5:30 to go to work :rolleyes1

But......

I'M LEAVING TODAY!!.....well....sort of ;)

We are off to Buffalo this afternoon, to stay overnight and catch our very early, pre-crack-of-dawn Southwest Airlines flight tomorrow :thumbsup2

I am mostly packed (just need to fling my toiletries in my checked bags and pack my carry on). I have 6 hours and 24 minutes left at work, and I am about to listen to live365 and complete my packing/departure check-list :)

Tonight I'll have my first review for ya'll....yup, I just said ya'll......because tonight's review will be of....

Cracker Barrel!

My parents and I adore this place. From the kitchy little shop to the down home country food, it signals the start of vacation. I swear I am a southern girl at heart! Give me country ham, biscuits, cornbread, mac & cheese, fried chicken....I could go on and on!

We arrive in Orlando at 9am tomorrow, and in the evening I will have reviews of Wolfgang Puck Express, the evening offerings of the King Kamehameha Club and Kona Island Sushi Bar!

Also, just a reminder that I will be blogging/tweeting live from the parks.

Yummy! Have you tried their french toast? So good!!! :goodvibes

I am soooo happy for you that you are going to be in WDW Poly CL tomorrow!! I hope you have the most amazing trip and love CL lounge...we had some yummy stuff there last year

Your dad sounds like he is related to Todd...always asking for the impossible and somehow they always get it!!

Sadly it looks like I will miss you again...we had to move our vacation back to Nov 12-21 but that is ok because we got the same room and rate, all my ressies were exactly the same (miracle right?) except they had Cali Grill for the night after our anniversary (we will go to Citrico's the night of the anniversary). AND we are going to see the F&W for the last weekend, the Osborne lights and MVMCP

So I ask you, how can I complain??

I look forward to your live review and if I have not mentioned it before, have the time of your life and have a drink for me!

Welcome DD and Im so jealous!

I love Cracker Barrell too, they have one in Charleston which is about 20 miles away but on Mon they will open one in my hometown and DH and I plan on being there early for breaflast!

Cant wait to read the Live Report expecially since I will be there myself next Fri!

Poly CL I cant wait!

Wishing you safe travels! I can't wait for you to start your live reviews!

Cracker Barrel, 09/02

Hi everyone!

I'm in Buffalo, at the hotel and I'm going to make this update pretty short and sweet as I still need to shower, dry my hair and get to bed (then get up at 3:30am lol :rotfl:)

We had a very filling and satisfying dinner at Cracker Barrel :thumbsup2

DDad and I each had rootbeer to drink, and DMom had earl grey tea.
ry%3D400

To start, they brought out a plate of warm biscuits and corn muffins. Mmmmm! They have the best biscuits!
ry%3D400

DDad had the Country Ham dinner with Coleslaw and Steak Fries.
ry%3D400

I have to say, I don't often like thick cut fries but these were wonderful!

DMom had a new feature salad with grilled chicken, bacon, blue cheese, apples, red onion and a cider vinaigrette.
ry%3D400

I also had the Country Ham dinner with Hashbrown Casserole and Mac & Cheese. The Country Ham and hashbrowns were great, but the Mac & Cheese was just eh.
ry%3D400

That's all for tonight! I'll report back tomorrow with more! In the meantime, check out my blog for live updates :thumbsup2

Love me some Cracker Barrel! We have one right down the street from us...DH is addicted to their beef stew and I just love it all

Going to Cracker Barrel for breafast Mon morning.. they have a yogurt parfet, turkey sausage, egg and muffin brealfast I love, cant wait..lol

Hi everyone!

We arrived quite some time ago and are having a blast! The weather is perfect! 91 degrees, super sunny with a lovely breeze.

We were upgraded to a Theme Park View in Hawaii on the 3rd floor :)

I'm just at the pool right now. We will be trying the evening lounge offerings at 5:30 and then off to Kona Sushi Bar!

September 3rd

Today has been a wonderful day, but I have been up since 3:30 and I am so tired (and determined to make rope drop tomorrow ;)) so this will be short and sweet for now.

We had brunch at
Wolfgang Puck Express.

DDad ordered the Smoked Bacon Pizza
ry%3D400

This was fantastic as always, there is something so tasty about this combination of flavors!

I ordered the Crispy Cornflake French Toast

ry%3D400

I love this dish! It reminds me of a churro, only so much better! But I have no idea how anyone could ever finish this entire thing.

DMom shared a bit of each dish.

CL Lounge Afternoon Snacks

As we waited for our room to be ready we enjoyed some snacks in the lounge.
ry%3D400

The selection included:
- Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
- Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Goldfish Crackers
- Gummy Sharks
- Yogurt covered raisins
- Trail Mix

A 5:30 we stopped by the CL Lounge to check out the evening offerings. I met Eugene, the new chef. He was very friendly and took the time to explain the offerings to everyone.

ry%3D400
(please excise DDad's Vanna White moment with the mustard sauce :lmao:)

On the left: Bacon Wrapped Ginger Chicken with Ohana Spicy Mustard Sauce

On the right: Crab Rangoons with Sweet Thai Chili Sauce

I saw these items replenished several times in the 45 minutes I was at the lounge and Chef Eugene was encouraging people to come and take seconds and thirds.

Assorted Veggies and Dip (also available but not pictured Pineapple & Caramel Sauce, Kim Chee, Uncrustables)
ry%3D400

Cheese and Berries
ry%3D400

Top: Pepper Jack
Middle: Havarti Dill
Bottom Garlic Boursin (omg this was heavenly!)

We loved the offerings and felt they were actually more flavourful than the items we had in Sept 2009, thus far.

Kona Island Sushi Bar

Dinner was at the Kona Island Sushi Bar. We sat directly at the bar and had a great conversation with Andres, the sushi chef.

We ordered:

Hawaiian Bread and Macadamia Nut Butter
ry%3D400

Shrimp Tempura Roll and California Luau Roll
ry%3D400

Volcano Roll
ry%3D400

I learned that the Volcano Roll is their most popular and Andres even explained why he felt it was different (and better) than other spicy tuna rolls.

He wanted to emphasize the fresh tuna flavor, so he doesn't marinate the tuna. Instead, he places wasabi inside the roll along with lightly pickled vegetables to provide a spicy and acidic balance along with the fresh tuna. He then serves the spicy shrimp salad to provide the majority of the heat. The tempura crunch and edible flowers are meant for both texture and presentation. I could tell he was really passionate about what he does!

He discussed the recent announcement of the sushi bar being a permanent fixture and he is excited for the opportunity to expand the menu and experiment in the new year :thumbsup2

We loved every bite of our sushi and practically licked the plate clean.

As an aside: At the end of the meal DMom told Andres that I write my own blog and that I would be featuring the meal on it. He was flattered and we spent a few moments discussing the DIS and Allearsnet.

When I mentioned my blog, two women who had just sat down beside me gasped! They were readers of my blog! It was so odd to me to get any kind of recognition but so very flattering :goodvibes

I intend to start a trip report tomorrow as well so I can show you all the gorgeous pictures I have taken here at the Polynesian.

Well, that is all for now. I'm going to turn in for the evening....I can see the castle, currently lit up in blue, as I lay here in bed :cloud9:

Sweet dreams! I'll be back tomorrow with
Liberty Tree Tavern, La Cava del Tequila, Via Napoli and Kringla Bakery!
