I do hear lots of people take kids there but I wouldn't want mine to be the loud one

On our upcoming trip my sister is going with us and has offered to stay with the kids one evening so hopefully we will go to CG for our dinner alone :)

Ah ok! Well as a frequent patron of CG I appreciate that you know your kids well enough to know they couldn't handle the signature experience yet. :goodvibes

If you do get to try it, I know you will enjoy it :thumbsup2

October plans sound great!!!! So sad I will miss you by a few days !!!

Aww that's too bad :(

Hi! I would gladly give you advice :goodvibes

We absolutely adore the Shrimp Tempura Roll. It isn't listed on the menu but it is always available! It is sushi nirvana :lmao:

The Spicy Kazan is my personal favorite. It is such an amazing combination of flavors and textures :cloud9:

My friend Anna tried the Snake in the Grass in May 2009 and loved it. We have also tried the California Roll and the Tuna 3 ways.

Aww thanks so much :) I always love hearing that readers are enjoying my reviews and my blog

Thanks!

Dear god! :scared1: Where has the time gone??

My next trip to WDW is only 30 days away and I still have so many reviews left to do here!

I'm sorry that I haven't updated! :worship: Work has been a touch insane and life in general has been very busy.

However, tonight...I have no plans but to go home, crack open a bottle of wine, order pizza and....DIS!

Tonight, I promise updates on:

Via Napoli
Jiko
Grand Floridian Tea

Still to come:

California Grill (2nd time, sushi only)
Chefs de France
Le Cellier
Poly CL Offerings

Thank you all so much for sticking with me :goodvibes

I am so looking forward to my next trip and I cannot believe how fast it is coming up. I am going to start a new thread for it, to make finding the reviews a bit easier, so I will post the link to that shortly :thumbsup2

Via Napoli!!

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Belini, Rosa Regale

ry%3D400

Pizza Ovens

ry%3D400

Artsy Plate Shot

ry%3D400

Arancini - these were ok, nothing special. I wouldn't get them again.

ry%3D400

Marghertia Pizza

ry%3D400

Pepperoni Pizza

ry%3D400

Quattro Fromagi (provolone, mozzarella, fontina, parmesan)

Omg :worship: Let me tell you...this pizza is AMAZING! The crust is so thin and crunchy! It was heavenly. The pepperoni was not "spicy" but it was more flavorful than american pepperoni. The quattro fromagi was so rich! It was sinful but delicious. The sauce was very fresh and :worship:

ry%3D400

Chocolate Gelato

The gelato was a let down :sad2: It was ice cream, and mediocre ice cream at best.

Overall, we LOVED our meal at Via Napoli and we are looking forward to returning in October :thumbsup2

Jiko

We made a last minute reservation at Jiko. This is one of my favorite restaurants but we had a bad experience here about a year ago and were a bit leery. I was hopeful that Jiko had returned to its former greatness :goodvibes

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Cheese Plate - I don't have the description card with me at the moment, but every cheese was delicious!

ry%3D400

Bread and Tandoori Butter - I adore this butter! It is so good I can't even put it into words!

ry%3D400

DMom's Maize-crusted Halibut with Tomato Butter Sauce and Vegetables of the Moment

ry%3D400

My Filet with Macaroni and Cheese and Red Wine Reduction

ry%3D400

DDad's Filet with Goat Cheese Mashed Potatoes

ry%3D400

Malva Pudding

We loved everything! Our entrees were flawless and the new dessert was absolutely fantastic. It was a dense cake with a fruity and light apricot sorbet. We wished that we had gotten more than one as we were practically fighting each other over sharing it.

We will definitely return to Jiko soon :goodvibes

Okay, Okay! I have to come out of lurkdom to say YOU ARE MAKING ME SO EXCITED VIA NAPOLI NEXT WEEK! One week from tomorrow we will be eating dinner there! I see you are staying at Coronado, too. Just had to say Hello! :)

I'm sorry that all the reports of the Arancini that I have heard have been soso. I have a place in a strip mall outside LA (like in the Val-ley!) and they have the BEST Arancini (meal serving, not appetizer). I've always hoped that high end restaurants would have some amazing Arancini, but I guess my $4.95 Arancini from a strip mall will so far be my best love!

I am looking forward to trying Via Napoli since we never seem to make it to Naples in DTD at DL.

Aww, thanks for coming out of lurkdom!

The pizza was outstanding. DDad has been to Italy and says it is very authentic. Yup! We'll be staying at CSR in 4 weeks, it is our "home" resort.

Those Pizzas look awesome !!!

They were :lovestruc Can't wait too have them again in a few weeks!

Oh my! I have a LOT of reading to catch up on, but I'm really excited!!!

Thanks for reading!

I've had fantastic Arancini at my best friends 25th birthday party. Her family is Italian and these were HUGE and so moist on the inside and perfectly crisp on the outside. Much better than Via Napoli's which were....bland.

Thanks for the great update, especially Via Napoli...we can't wait to eat there in December and I want to get the pepperino pizza

Via Napoli was wonderful! It isn't fancy, and I suppose some will be disappointed as it is not "american" pizza in the slightest, but we loved it!

I agree with many posters that have observed that "individual" pizzas are quite large! A family of 3 or 4 could easily split 2 "individuals" We each ate 2 pieces and a bit and then gave up :lmao:

Loving the updates and excited for your upcoming trip!

Thanks! I'm getting really excited as well. My best friend Tania hasn't been in 4 years and there are so many new experiences for her this trip :goodvibes
- Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on Halloween Night
- Epcot's Food & Wine Festival
- California Grill
- Victoria & Albert's
- Garden View Tea
- Via Napoli
- Hacienda de San Angel

Only 26 days to go!

California Grill - Round 2

As outlined in my post about DDad's indecisiveness, I obtained the impossible....a second California Grill reservation a mere week in advance!

It was a later evening reservation, a seating after Wishes at 9:30. Still, we received a window table in the section that overlooks the sushi bar and kitchen. Our server was Steven, who we have had many times.

That evening we knew exactly what we wanted....SUSHI!

Yoshie's sushi is nearly a religious experience, it is nirvana on a plate and we just can't get enough of it! :thumbsup2

We each started with the Shrimp Tempura Roll

ry%3D400

This is the absolute best sushi roll I have ever had in my life and as I have advised numerous times in the past, it is NOT on the menu, but dear god order it! :worship:

We then decided to share:

ry%3D400

Yellowfin Tuna 3 ways

ry%3D400

Spicy Kazan Roll

ry%3D400

Bonzai Roll

ry%3D400

The Bonzai was new to us. It was a rice-free roll, featuring a large piece of seared tuna, wrapped in nori, dipped in tempura and fried until crispy. I wasn't a huge fan as I felt it was too dense and heavy and the sauce was very strong...almost too much seasame, but that is a personal preference.

The Spicy Kazan is a very close 2nd to the Shrimp Tempura Roll. The textures and flavors and that fireball sauce with scallops....divine!

The Yellowfin Tuna was a surprise! The tataki was spicier than I recall, and the poke was my favorite. The tartare was chopped a bit too fine for my tastes, but the flavor profile was wonderful.

For dessert we shared:

Tanzanian Chocolate Creme Brulee

ry%3D400

This was a new item on the menu and it was sinfully good. It was paired with a little orange flavored madeliene cookie that was amazing!

We also split the:

Bananas and Caramel

ry%3D400

I'm not a huge fan of Banana but DMom and DDad loved this :thumbsup2

Well, there are only 2 reviews to go...Chefs de France and Le Cellier!

AND my F&W trip begins in 11 short days!! If you'd like to hop over and join my pre-dining review here is the link

~We seldom report of having eaten too little~ F&W 2010 Edition!

Thanks for the heads up Via Napoli (we are excited for the food), my husband and I went to Italy and France a few times so we do understand close seatings.

I love your updates...

Oh my goodness, whenever DIS-ers complain about close seating I think of cafes in France. I mean you are practically sitting in a stranger's lap there :lmao:

Thanks for reading!

I want that tempura shrimp roll...so it is fried shrimp with rice and thats it?

That creme brulee looks so good, I'm sorry I didn't get that when I ate there.
