Grocery Coupon Train

I really don't know if it is right for me to stay on the train folks. I feel so freaked about getting stuff out every week. My envies are not ones that I can just stamp and let go. I have to go to the PO every week to get them weighed to send them and I just don't know how much longer I can do this. It makes me really sad to say that.

I will get this one out as soon as possible and will really have to think this through. You all deserve to have people onboard who mail on time and I just can't always do that. I just feel awful......:guilty:

Here is what I do. I always want to send an envie EVERY week even if it is a thin one. I have a small scale and a First-Class Mail Shape-Based Pricing Template (from the post office) so I can send a .61 envie and not get it sent back or postage due. It is VERY simple if you have these two tools.

If I have a fat envie I either have to go to the post office, use a flat rate mailing envelope (or box), or break them up into .61 envies using the scale and template.

Hope that helps as I sure would miss you if you left the train.

I make a trip to the PO on Mondays usually and if not will maybe have yo wait till Saturday but I always go in and have them weighed so none should be postage due !!
mrs kayjay please don't leave us !!!

Doreen I never mailed your envie this week. I just opened the cabinet on my desk here in the office and there it is. I'm sorry.

We would miss you, but I totally understand that life is hectic, so whatever you decide is ok with me. I can make a suggestion though, PM Doreen as she is your receiver. Let her know your thoughts, and you two talk it out and see if you can't come to an agreement. I know that she normally receives big envies from you so maybe it isn't necessary that she receive one each and every week from you. I wouldn't normally suggest this as I think going every other week with everyone would really disrupt service, but with you perhaps she would be ok, I don't know. Either way just let me know what your plans are and we can go from there. :thumbsup2

I received this today. "I received a notice that I owed the post office 1.46 before they will deliver it. Can I make the suggestion that we limit the amount of coupons in each envelople? On a another train that I was on we sent 50 coupons per envelope."

If you are sending a regular white envie, yes I really think the number of coupons you put in the nvie should be limited due to it splitting open during processing. If you send a manilla envie then there should be no limit AS LONG AS the sender takes it inside to have it weighed. :thumbsup2

Just a side note to all, I picked up a pack of 25 small manilla envies from Wally World for like $1.75. They are more sturdy and I just use the automated postal thingie at my own convenience. :thumbsup2

Let me clarify this for everyone....the words in quotes and italics is a message I received from someone else on the train. I just wanted to share with everyone as I think it is a good suggestion...

MN_Gal ...THANK YOU so much for the Birthday Envie I received from you. I did get it about a week ago! Sorry for not posting earlier, but I did want you to know I appreciated it!

deerhart....I got your envie on Thursday!! I found some great ones I plan on using on my shopping trip tomorrow!!:thumbsup2

OT: Jen this is just a question...why is your DH so angry>..he needs to go to cvs with coupons and do the Pepsi deal....that will make him happy:cool1: well I am sure other things would make him happy too:rolleyes1

Huh? I'm totally confused :) I can't send him to CVS with coupons - he's morally opposed to using them himself. It's right up there with buying tampons, in his book.

dislal - I got the envelope today. There were some awesome ones in there!!!!

mskayjay - don't go!!! I'll miss you. Just tell your person you're late because I always am. Hopefully it will get better this spring - I switch to working Monday and Thursday instead of Sunday and Tuesday. That will give me time on Sunday to cut them, and get to the PO on Monday.

So you all will appreciate my coupon story... My son is 2 1/2, and you know how obsessed they can be with stuff. He's decided when we go to the store, he needs to carry one of the reusable shopping bags with him. He also wants his own stack of coupons, so usually I try to save him some expired ones. We were grocery shopping today, and I didn't stop bu the customer service desk to check for coupons like I normally do. At the top of his lungs, he starts hollering "No Mama! Go get coupons! I need new coupons!" :lovestruc He's well trained....

:goodvibes So cute! Now all you need to do is train him to cut and file.

Rosie- got two envies from you this week...THANK YOU. Count us in for prayers for baby Bree. Any news?

Anne-will try to have one out Monday or Tuesday. We are in the midst of crazy birthday month, both of my kids  birthdays are in Feb and we normally have 3 parties, one down yesterday and two to go....:scared:

Accountingbabe, I am really sorry, but I didn't get an envie out to you last week. DH had a cancer scare.. I haven't even looked at the paper from last week yet! I will get at least two envies in the mail first thing tomorrow. Again, really sorry.

Mskayjay, this is just my opinion and nothing more. I think sometimes we just try to do too much and as it piles up on us, we start feeling the pressure and things get forgotten and then we beat ourselves up over it. Be good to yourself. If that means hopping off the train temporarily then that's what I think you should do. You can always hop back on after a little break. If you enjoy clipping and find it a fun or relaxing thing to do, then try to work out something with your train buddy and stay on the train.

Rosie-I will be saying prayers for Bree!!

Karen-I know how you feel. I feel pressured once in a while to get the coupons out also (especially with the amount of coupons you send) it takes a while to go through all of them!!:) but you are a GREAT sender & I would miss you very much (as would everyone else that get the coupons after me).

On the other hand you need to do what's best for you & if that means taking a break from the coupon train then you that is what you should do. I will send a PM.
