Guitar Hero World Tour/Rock Band FAQ
1. Which is better?

I can’t emphasize this enough—it is all about personal preference. The best suggestion is to try both games out first either at Best Buy or with someone you know. Otherwise find a song list (google is your friend).

2. Which is sturdier?

Another toss up. You show me 8 people who swear RB is a piece of garbage and I’ll show you 8 who say the same about GH. The bottom line is to treat all the instruments like they are made of gold. If something breaks contact the manufacturer or the store if you buy the warranty.

3. Should I buy the warranty?

Is the game going to be played? Then yes, chances are you could use a warranty. I joke, but every single person I know (including my uber careful DH) has at the very least snapped the RB drum pedal (POC). Just check to make sure the instruments are covered and that you’ll get new ones quick.

4. Are the games family friendly?

Depends on your family, but they both offer about the same exact level of friendliness. Both games cut nearly all swearing out, but these are rock songs so adult material is always there. Now Lego Rock Band is a different story.
Both games have family friendly options for play modes.
RB has the no fail option. You can’t get easier than that. With it your 2 year old can wail away on your (already broken) guitar.
As far as will my 3/5/10 year old have an easier time with RB/GH? The prevailing opinion is that RB is easier on guitar, but that it really doesn’t matter. The object of the game is to get better, both games are accessible to most ages just about equally.

5. Are they compatible? Will my guitar for RB work for GH?

I’ll try to update when we know for sure about Lego…

6. I have an Xbox/PS3 and a Wii, which version should I buy?

With the exception of the PS2 version, I highly recommend you buy for any system other than the Wii if it is an option. The other versions have more available songs and better download interfaces.

7. Where can I find more information/reviews?

Anyone have Sing It? How is it?

Also, new Wii owner here. I plan to buy the extra remote and the battery charger. Will I be good to start off with that?

We have Sing It and my dd 9 and 12 love it! Make sure you get the one with the microphone inculded, it didn't cost any more. We played it at her slumber party with 8 girls, a real hit!

Quick follow up question, what do you mean by "with the exception of the PS2 version"? My son has PS2, Wii and Game Cube and we are buying him either RB or GH for one of the systems but not sure which system is best. We are leaving toward GH since he plays it at a friends house and loves it. Any advice?

I would buy the Wii version of either game before the PS2 version of either game, but if you can find the ps2 version considerably cheaper, go with that. The Ps2 is technically a dead system, so I wouldn't buy for it based on that.

Babe, Justin the Hook beat you to that like more than a week ago...love ya though. :teeth:

Does anyone have deer hunter? Would it be suitable for 10 year olds?

We have Deer Drive and it's fine for a ten year old. The deer just disappear into the ground after they are shot. It's sort of like an arcade game, lots of deer going by and you shoot as many as you can in a certain amount of time, plus you have to watch out for bears and moose coming at you and get them too. I had heard that some of the other hunting games you spend a lot of time just looking for a deer to shoot, and that is not the case with this one. We have a zapper (gun) for the wii that came with Link's Crossbow Training that works great with this game. Overall not the greatest game ever but fine for what it is and it's priced well at less than $20.

Do you have to have Rock Band to play Lego Rock Band? Can you use Guitar Hero guitar to play it?

We don't know yet for sure, but I will guess that you will not be able to use the GH instruments with it as you can't with regular RB.

Our family is pretty new to Wii, so I thought I'd ask you Wii veterans.

DS asked for Spatster from FisherPrice for Christmas. He thinks it's a Wii game (it isn't). The reviews are pretty bad, mostly about the controller. I wish FP could create the game on the Wii platform.

Is there any type of painting or similar game for the Wii that will be suitable for 5 year-olds? He's very adept at Wii games for his age.

Thanks,
Heather

Does anyone know if the GHWT microphone is compatible with other games (ie - Sing It)? I would assume it would be, but just wanted to make sure.
TIA!:goodvibes

I heard this morning that Old Navy is having a "rock" themed Black Friday sale. The rumor as of this morning is that with any $20 purchase customers will recieve "Lego Rock Band" free. No one seems sure if it's the actual game or just a demo. I'm expecting a demo, but with the less than stellar reviews the game has gotten they might actually be giving it away. I don't know what console it would be for, or any other details, but if it turns out to be the game then it might be worth heading to Old Navy that morning - they do usually have some really good prices on things early in the day. The only possible problem is that apparently the stores are opening at 3:00 am! :scared1:

Just when I thought I had the whole RB vs GH thing worked out Band Hero Enters into the mix...

The songs are what is appealing to Band Hero being that I have two girls totaling into the pop music scene.

Can that play on both GH and RB systems? I am assuming it's available as both a complete set with instruments and just the disk... I would be interested in just the disk depending on which systems it works on...

I have tried to poke around but I couldnt come up with the answers.. sure hope the DIS experts can guide me

Thanks!!

The guy at gamestop told me my DS13 who plays all the guitar heros on expert will definitely NOT want Band hero. He said it's more for younger kids who like Hannah Montana. My DS13 actually thinks he might want it but he's not dying for it.

Don't know if that helped at all but that's what the gamestop dude said:confused3
